I visited this facility

Brookdale Hamilton is strictly memory care. It's an excellent facility. The only reason my brother did not go there is that an opening came up over at another place that's closer to me, but I would rate them five-star for everything. A lady gave me a tour of the whole complex. It's updated and it's a beautiful place. They have an outdoor facility where they've got drums and things where people could play instruments. It was nice. The place was spotless.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad has been at Brookdale Hamilton for 3 weeks now. Everything is great there and we're so impressed, so far, with the way they're taking care of my dad. What impressed us the most is how nice everybody is and how they keep on reassuring us that they would do the best for my dad. One of the things that I like that we always notice is that when we enter the place, it does not smell like a nursing home. Other places smell like urine but here it does not. It's bright and airy. Everyone here is nice and willing to help. Other places are not like that, you'd have to go and say, "Hey look, my dad is wet, he urinated" and it would take 10-15 minutes for someone to come. With Brookdale, when we went to see dad one day, they're the ones who said "Oh he's wet, we gotta go change him" and that was impressive for us. They got him involved in putting green and trivia. They ask him what his favorite music is and they show a couple of videos up on the TV with these performers. They get him up by around 8:30 and they do activities all day. Around 2 or 3 o'clock they take a little nap and then get up for dinner. They do more activities after that like watching movies and then he's in bed by 9 or 10. He's only in his room when he's taking a nap or he's tired but most of the time, they have him out playing bingo or doing arts and crafts. He loves the food. He's a good eater there and he's had eggs, bacon, and salmon. He has no complaints. He's also a big ice cream eater and they make sure he gets it.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is at Brookdale Hamilton. The reason why I picked Brookdale was for a couple of reasons. I put together a spreadsheet of all the facilities that I took a looked at, in terms of monthly cost, memory care cost, number of residents, staff to resident ratio, the additional cost for memory care, cause some of them are tiered by dollar amounts, as well as location, and community pick. I broke that list of about eleven facilities down to about five, and then reviewing them, I just felt that Brookdale had a good staff to resident ratio, how they handle their COVID, the kind of memory care programs that they had, as well as location. Mom lives in Hamilton township, so she wanted to stay in the area, as well as the fact that I'm only about fifteen minutes away from where she lives, so it was also a relatively quick trip if I had to get to the facility. They also have some additional things like weekly Zoom community calls, and until the latest lockdown by the state, they also had in site visits. All things considered, when I rated them in terms of the different criteria, they were the top facility I looked at. There are some others, but overall, they had the best rating. I worked with the staff, the sales people and the director were all very easy to work with. Mom likes them as well. Looking at all the options, based on location, staff to resident ratio, the programs they have, what the facility looked like, that was the top pick. They basically call me with any changes to mom's conditions or medical care, and it's very easy to reach them. They always keep me up to date if there's any change or any question about care that needs to be addressed. Some of the programs are kinda restricted and because of the way they are isolating the wings of the facility, but for the most part, I'm sure that will open up. They have a lot of different programs for the residents to participate in. She also has occupational therapy, as well as physical therapy. They have community activities, a movie night, gardening program, bingo, extensive reading and a library available. Some of them play cards and they have a group dining where they go eat together. Those are the top programs that I know my mother would be interested in, especially the gardening one. They also consider what foods mom likes, what food she doesn't like, in terms how to prepare on menu. They offer a variety of food. They have specials. They'll have certain sets of different foods that they'll prepare but they always have a baseline, should a resident not want the featured menu they have. So there's a variety of food that's available for the resident in case they don't want what's been made available, as like the day's special. There's a large community shared common area, where they were having inside visits. They're decorating it for Christmas, it's clean, they have enough staff available and there's a control entry to the facility. It's a good layout. The rooms are fairly spacious, depending upon how much furniture you may be bringing into the room. The room has a nice layout. Basically the room is, I don't want to say average, but it certainly is laid out well. They also have other opportunity should mom, once her funds are out, goes into Medicaid. They also have the ability to do shared rooms between residents. Right now, mom has a private room. She has her own room, and everything that she need to bring from the house was in the room. It's laid out really well so it can accommodate enough stuff from mom's house to make her comfortable. The cost has gone up, that's understandable. I think mom's memory care tier has just been adjusted. I think the memory care programs that they offer are great. The memory care tiered structured price is up, they just had a 5 percent increase in the memory care programs. It's not the best, it's not the worse, but it's a little bit better than average.

I really liked Brookdale Hamilton. The rooms were a little bit smaller but very nice. The place and staff were very nice. They had a cool movie room styled like an old theater. It seemed like a fun place, and the staff seemed very caring.

Brookdale Hamilton was excellent and cheerful; they have a lot of activities for the patient. The whole facility was very nice and very clean. The woman there that I met with was very forthcoming. When she asked me about my husband’s stay, she was kind enough to say that this was not the place for him. This is for people who have their minds intact, not for somebody who can’t communicate, like my husband.

I visited this facility

We have toured Brookdale Hamilton. It was a very nice facility. The young lady who took us through gave us a very nice tour. She answered any of our questions. She made it really nice. It was a good experience. The only issue, and it is not so much an indictment on the facility itself, is that my mom isn't quite far along in the way of dementia or Alzheimer's. Most of the residents are well past where she is right now. Nevertheless, they had varied rooms with varied choices, and they all seemed suitable. They were clean. Overall, it was a good experience. We walked through the dining area, and it was again a nice area. They had individual tables for smaller groups to sit at. It just fits in with the overall facility. It was decorated nicely.

I was very impressed with Clare Bridge of Hamilton. We were actually scheduling to move my mother to that facility. Their whole thing was memory loss. I was also very impressed with the executive director. The rooms were actually fairly generous. I think they had a couple of dining room areas. The facility was very pleasant. Everything was on the same floor which was nice. It was pretty much surrounded by woodlands, so it had a very pleasant setting. The staff was very accommodating, and they're constantly getting training in terms of dealing with patients with memory loss. They work closely internally with one of the hospitals in the area.

Clare Bridge of Hamilton was nice. I was there for over two hours. The administrator not only took me through every area, including several different apartment configurations, both the memory wing and the regular assisted living, but she also showed me the different activities, including physical activities. They also have less physical activities, like painting and baking. It was good and nice. They had different several different configurations; some are like a dorm style. One side of the suite was one bedroom and the other side was another bed, and then there was a common area, like a small sitting or living room area and one common bathroom but their own private bathroom; they didn’t have to go down the hall. She showed me many configurations: there were one big room with a living and bathroom area. There was a good sized bedroom, bathroom, and big entrance foyer with a little table and chairs. Some of them had partial kitchens or kitchenettes, and she said if your loved one was able to have a microwave they would have a microwave but if you didn’t want it for them they would take it out but no stove. It seemed clean and smelled clean, but it didn’t smell medicinal. Dining room is beautiful, and it’s actually set up like a restaurant with tablecloths. I was offered to stay for lunch, but I couldn’t do that. But it smelled good and it made me hungry. They provide snacks throughout the day at a counter with different individually wrapped things that you could get.

We like the location of Clare Bridge. The reviews I read on it were excellent. I'm really confident in the staff that they have there. The therapists were really great. My father has a problem with balance. He fell a couple of times and they alerted me right away. He was not injured but they still wanted to let me know that he did fall. The rooms are fabulous and my dad has his own room. It's laid out pretty good. There were several dining rooms and it smelled like home cooking.

The facility is very nice but going there is never a good thing. My grandfather has alzheimers so seeing him is nice just not nice under those circumstances. The staff is nice however they will not let him have ice chips which is weird. He seems to be doing better but he has good days and he has bad days as well. The staff also seems to genuinely care about the patients as well which adds a nice touch to an unfortunate situation.
