Arden Courts of Annandale was an excellent facility. It's well run, seemed very caring, clean, they had lots of activities for folks with memory care, and they're very organized. It was created in two sections for different stages of people in their memory care journey. It seemed like a well-run, professional organization that we would consider. The ones we toured were one-bedrooms and they seemed to be well-sized, clean, efficient, and accessible for those who needed care, and it could be tailored to meet the folks' specific decor. They had group movie sessions, group sing-alongs, game activities, and they also spoke of taking folks to outings like football and baseball games and parks. They're on the higher end when it comes to cost.

We are looking for some place where they have the transition once my mother-in-law runs out of her money and Medicaid gets involved. She is in Arden Courts of Annandale, and they don't have that. We took her to Arden Courts when COVID was still going on, so we still haven't seen the inside, but just talking to people, they are very kind and very good to us. She is not a very easy case, but they are pretty good and hopefully now that they are done with their vaccinations and visitation has started we're going to go and visit her more. This place is only dementia and memory care, so everybody is getting the same level of care. They have one price for everybody who enters. I'm happy with them, but I have to see inside to be able to get a better idea. The reason that I picked this place was because it's very modest, very small, and very simple versus places that are very fancy and look like a resort. I just wanted my mother-in-law to not get too distracted by too much going on because her mind is so busy, so I just try to stick with simple things. Another reason I picked them is their prices are not confusing. It's all dementia and Alzheimer's, so everybody gets the same price when you enter. The marketing people are a "five," but I don't know about the inside staff because I have yet to interact with them. We haven't seen her physically. She's not happy; she only wants my husband, but they're trying to take care of the situation right now. We want her to calm down before we even start visiting her, but I am in touch with the doctor and the nurse, and they are pretty good with reporting what's going on. It's not state of the art like the others. The place is old and small, but it's clean. Their price is fair in this area. If they had the transition where they would go from this to Medicaid, I wouldn't even think about removing her at this point, but our situation is such that if she runs out of money, then we have to have a "Plan B" ready.

I moved my father to Arden Courts from another national AL chain recognizing that white table cloths do not equate to quality care! I only regret that I did not do it sooner! The kindness, care and deep understanding of people who are struggling with dementia was immediately and consistently apparent. Barb, Anna and the entire staff are fantastic! Arden Courts is designed to care for people with memory challenges and it shows. My father was still an active man and the ability to have outside exercise was invaluable. There is also a great balance of both men and women which is important as many of the AL facilities are largely filled with very fragile women. Additionally, all of the staff are trained to deal with the unique behaviors associated with memory loss. This is not true at other facilities where staff are rotated from AL to memory care as staffing shortages present themselves. In the end, this will harm your loved one. Memory patients have unique needs that require appropriate trained response. Arden Courts is not fancy but it is appropriate for what a memory challenged individual needs. If you are looking for a safe, loving home for your loved one, please check out Arden Courts. You will be glad you did.

I visit 4 other programs before selecting Arden Courts for my wife. Because this facility only works with residents with memory care, I was impressed with the daily program, the knowledge of staff members, and how they interacted with the residents. They do an admirable job in knowing each resident and this focus on individualized plans. I had read many books and articles about the management and the best environments for those with memory problems. Arden Courts had the research-based approach that I was looking for. My wife has thrived since her entry into Arden Courts and I have found that I have a peace of mind that I haven't had in quite some time. I do not worry about her - knowing that she is receiving top quality care. I have been very impressed how the staff members have managed during the Coronavirus Pandemic. As most of us know, many facilities did not have a good record with respect to keeping residents and staff members safe. This has given me a feeling of safety and security for my wife. The Program Director and all of her staff members have been extremely accessible. The parent company had developed safe and caring guidelines for visitation which I am sure will stay in place unless there are safety issues. I am extremely pleased with my choice of Alden Courts.

Pop, my father-in-law, lived at Arden Courts for several months. We moved him from another facility that had a memory care floor, but this entire facility is dedicated to memory care. We immediately knew that we made the right move. Management and staff were very professional, friendly and caring. Clem thrived there before he was taken ill. He loved to roam around inside and outside of the facility. There were lots of activities that kept him engaged. The Executive Director used to shave him herself! I recommend Arden Courts of Annandale unconditionally!

My whole family loves Arden Courts of Annandale because it gives my husband lots of room to move around, and he can go outside into a very large courtyard. He also has four different accesses to the outdoors, and he can walk in and out through them at his own leisure. The fact that he has access outside made a world of difference in his attitude. He says the staff is very friendly and caring. They have a large community room with activities going on all day. There are 60 patients overall with 15 patients in each wing. In his wing, there are seven other men which is great, because it's usually hard to find senior places where he'd have a lot of other male companionship to watch football with. Each wing is attached to where the nurse's station, community room and dining room are. The food and care is good, and the rooms are very nice. Each room comes with its own bathroom, a tiny chest, nightstand with a lamp, and chair. I didn't have to bring any furniture, and my husband also has his own nice closet. They do the linens and laundry, plus the wastebaskets are lined with plastic bags which I didn't see in other memory care places.
