My sister is at The Madeline of Decatur. There have certainly been some concerns, but our experience has been pretty good. The staff is nice, but sometimes it seems to me that they don't have sufficient caregivers available to care for the residents. That to me is a safety issue. I like their rooms though. They are very nice. They have an activity schedule, so they have lots of activities like bingo, golf, bowling, and sing-alongs. I like that it's not a large facility and that they are divided into four clusters. I like the way the physical space is organized. Memory care residents would roam around and walk all the time, and it's like a circle. So, they have lots of space to walk and they can't get lost. They'll just naturally come back to where they started.

We chose The Madeline of Decatur because my father needed memory care. It's very nice. The staff was professional, neat, and clean, and they were organized. The girl that I've been working with was very professional and helpful. She gave me her cell phone number and work number for when I need to contact her about anything. The cook that they have has been there for years, and everyone says she's really good. The grounds were very well-kept, everything was very clean, neat, and orderly. It's located close to the doctors and things that he's been using, and it's not far from my home.

My aunt is currently a patient there. And I have nothing but good things to say about this facility. They take care of my Aunt very well. She's always in a good mood. Every time I come see her. And thanks for keeping me stress free.

Read your contract carefully. My relative was here since 2017. Remember that Assisted Living Facilities only need to give a 30 day notice if they’re discharging your relative. We got ours on 1/29/21 and are desperately searching for another Memory Care Facility.

My mother gets very good care at The Madeline of Decatur. Her room is always clean, bed is always made, and clothes are always washed. They have different kinds of games, and today they were decorating for Valentine's. The food is great. They have the common dining room, common gathering area, and activities room. The staff is always helpful and willing to do whatever we ask. The facility is very nice. I love the way it's divided into four separate wings. It's nice to see that she's developed and gotten used to her new surroundings. She feels as though this is home, and she's a part of that family.

The Madeline of Decatur was excellent. The residents were with other staff members and there were some who were by themselves on the porch, but they were not left alone to wander about. You can see the residents that were there. They showed us their rooms. The residents put pictures of their family and of their homes, so they have a connection with their past. The staff was excellent, and they gave us some cookies.

The programming at The Madeline is fantastic. They do a great job of engaging their residents in all stages of Alzheimer's. The food served is very appropriate for the population yet still honors the individual choices of each person. The facility is clean, updated and well designed for those with dementia. The re-constructed outdoor areas are a great touch.

The Madeline of Decatur was very clean and pretty reasonable. The people were really nice and professional. Because it's memory care, the rooms were designed for safety, convenience, and comfort. It's a one-bedroom efficiency apartment with a small bath designed for people's safety when they don't have good memory.
