We took a tour of Brookdale Carmel. The people that showed me around were nice, they seemed to be very knowledgeable and caring. The patients seemed to be taken care of. We didn't see a lot of activities happening or anything, but it was the weekend, so that might be why. We saw the activity room and then we saw an empty resident's room, and it was a nice room. We saw the hallway, we saw the areas where they eat, and we saw a little outpost. We saw one whole level of the area.

Brookdale Carmel has been fantastic. Everyone seems to care, and they don't just let the people wander around and do nothing all day. They interact with them and it's amazing. The staff has been fantastic and very willing to talk to me when I call and ask about my husband. They interact with my husband and for the first time I've seen him smiling, laughing, and acting happy. It's accessible to restaurants and all kinds of things. They have activities and they shared some yesterday. They were singing, and my husband enjoyed every bit of it. Money wise, it was not cheap, and I couldn't have afforded it if I have no long-term healthcare.

My father has moved into Brookdale Carmel. It's has only been three weeks since he moved in, so it has been awkward for us because of Covid. Covid has been running with very restrictive visiting and my father doesn't understand because it's like he's in jail. It would have happened no matter where we picked; everybody is restricting visitations. So that's what we're up against right now. My siblings are frustrated because they have problems seeing him. My father is also frustrated because visits are 30 minutes only, in and out, and across a glass screen, so you can't hug or touch, and that's it. I have seen his room through the window. He is on the ground floor. They took me around and I was able to look through the window, but we were not allowed in because of Covid. No families are allowed in. His room looks fine. They did a great job of accommodating us. We brought his furniture and with a floor plan, we showed them how we wanted it made. They did it the way I had it designed, and it's exactly like I wanted. I would say all of that is good. He seems to like his room. I haven't heard him complain about the room. My father is eating well, too. He looks good when I see him. It seems like he has put on some weight maybe even a little bit, and I would say all of that is good. Before he was there and at home, he depended on my mom for cooking. My mom passed five or six years ago, and so my dad has lived on Ensure for like five years because he doesn't cook. They also have activities.

Brookdale Carmel was quite nice, but I don't like the location, and it was quite expensive. It felt comfortable there. They had different things going on. The staff we worked with was very nice and very good. The amenities were pretty standard. They had a movie area, a puzzle room, and an activity area. The room we saw was adequate, and it had everything I needed.

I visited Brookdale Carmel. I liked their layout but it did not seem homey because they're not as new as the other places I went to. The rooms were very small. The layout though was in a circular plan and I kind of liked that aspect of it. They also have little community rooms. The person who assisted me during the tour was fine, inviting, and I didn't have any qualms with her. The dining room was a fairly open area. The person who assisted me was fine; she was inviting. I wasn't impressed one way or the other.

The caregivers are over worked and under paid . The management is awful. They are only concerned about filling beds for $$ Stay away, you'll be sorry if you place your loved one in this expensive dump
