I visited this facility

My father will be moving into Ashley Court of Brighton. We looked at both independent and assisted living. He's gonna be moving into independent living to start, but we'll see how that goes. I was very impressed with the staff and the facilities in terms of care. They have a continuum of care that goes from independent all the way up through end of life if necessary. The prices are reasonable. They provide three meals a day and it's prepared onsite. The staff is exceptional and very impressive. They have all kinds of crafts, physical activities, games, and things that they can be involved with. It's not the most extravagant. It's more than adequate compared to a lot of the really fancy places. It's more about the care there than it is the amenities.

I visited this facility

We're all set to take my parents there at Ashley Court of Brighton, but the other place offered a great deal, that really wasn't a great deal it ended up being. If I have to do it over, I would go to Ashley Court. They had activities and a nice courtyard for the residents to walk. The building was set up nice. It's kind of a square straight line for them to do walks. They have doctors and nurses and medical people that will come in or you can have your own come in. It's a locked down facility. They provide meals, snacks, and 24/7 care. The director seemed really caring.

Ashley Court took exceptional care of my grandmother and gave our family peace of mind during a very difficult time. The entire staff from top to bottom were wonderful to our family. Nurse Lori was extremely compassionate and very good at communicating with us. She truly cared about my grandma and also the wellbeing of family members. We’re so great full for her. The activities director was very engaged with my grandma although her abilities were limited. The aides took the time to get to know her and how best to care for her. I would highly recommend this facility. We had a very good experience here.

Unfortunately, during the chaos of COVID-19, we had to place Mom in a dementia care unit. We chose Ashley Court because we thought it was a good option, but we didn't have a lot of time to research alternatives for her. It was the first time Mom was away from home. She was confused and filled with anxiety. Nobody could visit her. She didn't understand. She wouldn't eat. I tried to call her building all weekend to talk to her, but nobody answered the phone. They are short-staffed. They have limited 'nurses' on staff, too, especially on the weekends. The only way I could talk to my mom was to call the main desk in their building and ask the person answering to get my mom. I never was able to 'connect' with her. Three days after she was admitted, she fell in her room and fractured her femur. Her body was blocking her door, so nobody could get in. They had to crawl through the window to rescue her. Mom had surgery the next day and was never able to recover. She died in her sleep three days later. We never received condolences from the staff at Ashley Court. They were cold and uncaring. They charged Dad for two months of care and said they would file a lawsuit if he didn't pay. Please think twice about placing your loved one here.

I visited this facility

I toured Ashley Court of Brighton andit was acceptable. I wasn't really fond of it. I understand what was required, and it was set up nicely for that . The staff did very well. It would be OK for the patient. The surroundings were very nice, the layout was more of a community, but the rooms were average (nothing special), although it was clean. The dining room area was set up very nice, like a family restaurant. I liked that they eat together and they were socializing.

Ashley Court of Brighton was absolutely wonderful. They've got a good handle on the patients right from the start. They seemed to know how to take care of them and manage them. My husband was there for a week and he was well taken care of. At the start, he was aggressive and he calmed down. The staff was great and they had activities going on all the time.

If I could give this facility a zero star I would. My mother was at Ashley Court for two years in building two. At one time it was a great facility. But the last year that mom was there it was horrendous!Always short staffed and the owner has no business caring for older people. All they care about is the old Mighty Dollar. I would never Place anyone there again my mother passed away in the hospital due to a fall for lack of supervision and Staffing.

Great place with wonderful staff! My mom has many special needs and the staff is wonderful and the management has been so easy to work with. The staff to patient ratio is above average, the care remarkable.

At the point my father was unable to care for my mother any longer, we searched the region for a reasonably-priced facility that met our needs and comfort level. Leaving her for care with strangers was not easy to do, but the staff and management Ashley Court quickly put our minds and hearts to rest. They immediately worked to make us and her comfortable. Their management of medications was miraculous. Care was superb! Someone from our family visited every day, so we were well aware of care levels. Other than some occasional problems with staff retention, we were relieved, pleased and comfortable with having her there. My mother spent several years at Ashley Court and I can honestly say they fill a need that is hard to find in our area and do it well.

My mother currently lives at Ashley court. She was put there about a year and a half ago after a broken hip. She was so frail I knew I couldn't care for her at home. Although I felt so guilty leaving her I had no choice . Mom gets great care there. And in no time Ashley became her home. The staff and nurses are all wonderful. I am never left in the dark when changes happen . Picking a place for her to go was so nerve racking. I toured almost every home in Livingston county. I picked Ashley Court because it was clean. And all the residents looked well cared for. It has been almost two years now and I can honestly say I wouldn't change my choice. She gets great care and I can sleep at night and not worry about her.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I was kind of surprised because I didn’t know my husband was dying until a few days before. I think Ashley Court was a good place. The staff was good. The only thing is my husband was very combative. He wouldn’t take the medication, and he wouldn’t eat. I guess he had really gotten bad because at home I couldn’t get him to take his pills, and he was threatening me, so I can’t blame Ashley Court. They tried their best. Some of the staff was better with him than others. There was one woman who kind of looked like me, so he would take showers for her and stuff. He was strong, and he needed to be changed and when they try to change him he would fight. He seemed to be better in the evenings though. They have home-cooked meals there, and they have some kind of activity everyday. It’s clean. To be honest I'd want to go there. They have their own rooms where there’s a bedroom part, and there’s a sitting room part. They have a beauty salon right there, and they have a doctor that comes in once a week. They also have dental services. They have like four buildings, and I think they have twenty people per building.
