We chose Holiday the Fairmont for my sister. It was close to us, it was clean, and it's like an apartment where they don't get into your business. They just want you to pay your own rent. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind. They have a gym, salon, dining hall, and chapel.

The tour we had at Holiday the Fairmont was wonderful. We really like them. The sales director was very informative and tried to give us a real picture of the services they were providing, emphasizing that they're not the assisted living type of home that's going to level you up as soon as you're enrolled at the home. We discussed at length the amount of independence my parents would have in that situation, which we certainly liked the sound of. She was very well informed as to other services that we can add on if it's necessary, but she has no vested interest in pushing those on us because they're independent providers. So understanding that structure, it's really a great selling point for that community because certainly the price is prohibitive with a lot of assisted living homes, and that type of independent living just seems like a better fit for our parents while still being in a relatively safe environment for them. The staff members were lovely and wonderful. It felt like a hotel. The dining area was clean and well lit. There was a lot of natural light and it felt very nice. The layout was fine, but the size of the room that we toured was actually pretty small, and the staff did say that they have a limited number of two-bedroom units. We toured a one-bedroom unit, but it was a little bit small for my parents, so I think if we do move forward with The Fairmont it would only be if we could get a two-bedroom unit.

Everything was very nice at Holiday The Fairmont. The size of the apartment was adequate. I had lunch with them and it was pleasant. I've met some of the residents. The food was good. The staff gave me a tour and showed me the apartments. They have a plan where you can go to other Holiday places in the country. They have these facilities all over the country. If you want to go visit somebody down in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Georgia, or Dallas, Texas, or whatever, you can go for a week or two, you just have to get on their list. I liked that aspect of it. The price was reasonable, but I'm not ready for anything like that quite yet. It was a nice place. Everybody seemed pleasant and they had a lot of activities and things to do. They had a game room and a very small gym. Somebody comes in a couple of times a week and plays piano at different times during the day in the big lobby. They have a movie room. Each unit has its own small kitchen. They have a big kitchen that's fully furnished and if you want to, you can schedule to use that if you have guests coming to visit you and you want to prepare a special meal or whatever. It's not really adequate to do major cooking in the units, but you don't need to do that much cooking when you live there. It's an older facility and I think they're trying to do apartments one at a time as they come available. They could freshen up the apartments a little bit, but they're bigger and roomier than they are in a lot of the places.

My father-in-law has moved into Holiday The Fairmont. It was conveniently located near our home in Manassas. We met with several other facilities, but we received such a warm welcome at this facility. Terry, the director, was just so kind and spent time with us. We didn't feel rushed. She invited us back for lunch and she explained the whole process wonderfully. It's independent living, but they have services offered through outside resources that the director provides to the community member so that they can reach out and get the support that they need. Onsite, they do laundry service if you would like it. They have housekeeping and they do three meals a day. They always have coffee and tea. They make fresh baked goods. The food is fantastic. Everyone is extremely friendly. They genuinely care about the people that are there. You can see the way that they interact with all of the members of the community and their family and friends that come to visit. It's just a really warm place. They have a fantastic library. They do different scheduled activities. They have a movie theater. They have activities where they go out into the community. They'll take you to the grocery store. They'll take people out to lunch sometimes if they all want to go out to lunch together instead of eating at the facility. It's low cost, but you get a lot for the price that you're paying.

I visited Holiday The Fairmont. The salesperson, Terry, was very helpful. The grounds were well kept. It was very bright, and they have a couple of different options. They're willing to work with us, which I think is good. Their price seems pretty reasonable to me. We looked at a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom, and they seemed pretty spacious. There's a lot of good natural light, which is good. Each room has a balcony. On the ground floor, they have a little patio you can go out on. They do a pretty good job of renovating the place when a resident moves out and a new person moves in. They have a pool table, a fitness center, and a movie room. They have lots of books, puzzles, games, and social activities. Everything looked good.

My uncle moved into Holiday The Fairmont. He gets three meals a day. The price was just unbeatable. My uncle only has to walk down the hall, get on the elevator, and get onto one floor. The proximity between family members was good because he lives between me and my brother. The staff members are helpful. I've had a few issues getting the payments squared out, but it's all good now.

The staff at Holiday The Fairmont was very friendly, warm, and professional. I met residents there, two in the elevator, one in the beauty shop doing her hair, and a gentleman in the lobby. They said the residents could bring small appliances in there. The facility was very nice, clean, and very organized. The staff during the tour was well spoken, well mannered, very polite, and very friendly. She enjoys working there, and that's something you can feel. I was very impressed. The rooms were fine. The dining area was really big. They even have a big piano.

My dad is in Holiday the Fairmont. He seems to like it. The caregivers are very good with him. I like the caregivers and the services that they provide for the patients there. I know it's an independent living facility, but sometimes, them being there for a long time, if they need additional services, they provide for them. My dad likes it, and they know him, and it's like his home. The staff are there to answer your questions. They're very polite and courteous. I've never had any problems with them. They have activities. They always announce the activities that they're going to have, and they also have a schedule where you can sign up for different activities. They're going on trips to anything like that. When it comes to certain things that you need, they're always there. Any problem you have, they respond pretty quickly. However, I think they should have more amenities. They have a small gym, they don't have much in there. They have a barber shop there, but my dad never used it. He never took part in it.

Holiday The Fairmont was pretty nice. I went back there twice. However, there were a lot of older people. I'm still in my mid-seventies, so I'm not looking to go to a place with people in their eighties or something. I wanted to be a little bit more social. The meals and everything were included. So, the price was kind of high. I didn't like taking the elevator up to the room. The rooms were spacious though. The staff was excellen and they have outings and a fitness center for the residents.

I was very pleased with Holiday The Fairmont. The lady that was in charge of the tour showed me the atrium and the dining area and explained how the meals were provided. The second floor had all of the services such as the beauty shops, the libraries, the chapel, the health room, and a specific little theater room if you wanted to have your family over for evening movies and popcorn. Then I was taken up to the third level to see the one-bedroom apartment, which was lovely and very large. I was shown the studio apartment as well, which was available at this precise moment, and that I liked to put in for. The sample menu looked lovely. It had a lot of choices. There were lots of activities. They try to have a family day or family weekend twice a month where your family is invited and have picnics, cookouts, or little carnivals once a year. On the 4th of July and other holidays, they have things planned out. They had a bus that takes you into the city of Manassas for shopping, doctor's visits, etc. Everything was just sparkling clean and well kept up. I was not expected to visit that day, so it's not like it was staged. Some residents were sitting in the atrium, either listening to music or playing on their cell phones, or walking their dogs in and out. It was lovely and well taken care of.

I toured Holiday The Fairmont, and it was very nice. I loved it. I actually love the location better, but it's just overpriced. Everything was top notch there. They had a bingo game going on while we were there. They had a laundry room, a barber, a library, and a theater room. The rooms were very nice, and very comfortable. We actually showed up an hour early because I had the time wrong, but they accommodated us. They got somebody else to help us. They were very nice, and they followed up.

The Fairmont offers a decent quality of service at an affordable price. It had a decent library area, a small chapel built into the facility, a beauty shop, a theater room, an arts and crafts room, and a small physical fitness room. They serve you dinner and you may have the option of having it served to your room. The staff was friendly and outgoing.

The person who showed us around at The Fairmont was very nice, knowledgeable, and seemed to like where she worked. The people that were staying there looked like they were pretty happy also. My mom likes the library, and we saw a couple of different 1-bedrooms and a studio. The rooms seemed clean. There was one that was in the middle of a remodel, so that one wasn't particularly clean, but we were expecting it to be that way. Otherwise, it seemed just fine.

The community is definitely many years old, but they got new furniture for the resident common spaces, but not in the apartments themselves. It helped, but it seems as though there are still many challenges that have ebbed and flowed over the last few years, like having enough staff to help their residents live an easier life, quality of food(ham and cheese sandwiches and grilled cheeses are common), the number of inadequate activities, the outdated amenities, like their "gym", and a lack of excitement and technology. It's such a mixed bag of pros and cons that I would not encourage anyone I know to take the chance to move in there.

The activities in The Fairmont were good because they had art and crafts, they had some guests there, and they could play the piano. So they had a grand piano sitting out there that they could play if they wanted to. They also had their happy hours on Friday, which I thought was so cute where they're playing games, and sitting around, enjoying each other. The price is excellent and I told them that was one of the ones I was going to look at again with my sister. They had transportation like if you had to go to the doctor or something like that. They had a beauty salon, they did the laundry, and they had a facility doctor that actually would come there. They had a veteran military wall. One of the nurses there was on the wall. She works there now as a nurse. I thought that it was pretty cool.

When we visited The Fairmont, we saw the whole building, but I don't think we were able to see the units, although we had seen them online, and he showed us brochures. They didn't have a unit available; I don't think they had one to show us. They were totally booked, but otherwise, we liked it. They had a fitness room, and they were wonderful. The gentleman we spoke with was wonderful.

I was able to visit my friend who is staying in The Fairmont. Overall, it's a nice facility, and the staff is very nice. He has his own apartment, and it is a 1-bedroom apartment. When Covid was going on, they brought their meals to their rooms; however, they have a big dining room. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I saw people in the lobby doing exercises, bingo, and those type of things.

My mom has been at The Fairmont for about a week now. She's actually in quarantine because they gave her a COVID test. I've been calling to check and see if they've gotten the COVID test back, so far they haven't. She absolutely does not like the food, but a lot of that has to do with the way it's being served because they have to serve it in reusable containers in the room. I don't know if she would have a different opinion if she was actually sitting in the dining facility. There are people that smoke in the facility, and I know it when I go in. I was with her helping her move in, and the hallways were kind of smoky. The people seem really nice. She likes her apartment. The units are pretty nice sized, and the bedrooms are pretty big compared to some of the other places I looked at. She has a large living room, a pretty good bathroom, a bedroom, and a pretty good sized balcony. The rooms I saw only had efficiency kitchens, which means no stove or anything. It's just a plain sink or a small sink and a very, very small refrigerator. I saw other places that I thought would have been better, but my mom likes The Fairmont, that's why we chose it for her. I'll be able to have a better assessment once she actually is able to get out into the general population. Right now, she's quarantined, so she is absolutely not very happy right now. They talked about the activities they have. They bring people in like artists, dancers and singers. It's just with COVID, everything's changed. I'm not sure what kind of activities they have right now. I think everything's kind of on hold because they're not really bringing people in to the facility to play music or do anything like that.

My tour of The Fairmont was great. I would recommend them to others. We didn't meet a lot of the staff. The Fairmont is great. I completed the tour, but I was not able to afford the monthly fee. I thought it was a place for low-income people, but evidently it wasn't. It was an in-person tour. It was very nice. Their staff was very nice. The room was a one-bedroom. It had a walk-in bath, which is important to me. It had three closets, a living room, a dining area, and a kitchenette. I did not try their food. From what I've seen, the facility was very clean, and very inviting. I think the value for money is a little high for a low-income place.

I went to the Fairmont and it was a very nice building. It was closer to what we were looking for, but it wasn't quite there yet. It had more independent folks, and all meals were provided, but my parents were looking for a full kitchen. The price was more reasonable than the others places. Mr. Miller, who gave me the tour, was super nice, and the staff was very pleasant. The facility was older, but it was very well maintained. When I went in, they were finishing lunch, they were doing a trivia game, and everyone was fully engaged, which was nice to see. Behind the lobby area is a sitting area. Someone brought in some jewelry that they were selling, there were some folks checking those things out, and there were some ladies sitting in lobby with their dogs. It was so nice to see a pet being welcomed; it gave people a real sense of home to see a pet.

The Fairmont is very good. The people are very friendly and the management follow through. The staff is very nice and attentive. What they offer is really great for the price. The place seemed very friendly and there are activities all the time. It's very inclusive and has a nice atmosphere and ambiance. The meals are very good. The actual apartment that my mom has is much larger than other places of similar category. The general appearance is being kept up and the layout is very good. It all heads towards a central area where they all come together, and there's a lot of light which I think is important for older people. They have activities thoughout the day. They have a shuttle bus that takes people places, they have people come in and clean once a week and do the linens, and it's all part of it.

I would say that it's a disappointing tour to The Fairmont when coming down the road to reach them. It was in a depressed area that has an empty feel, it's in an industrial section that they're trying to convert into residential. To locate the community, you're travelling on a road where you have to find a church, turn into a church area, go through the church parking lot to get to their area. It wasn't attractive in appearance as well. The staff who accommodated me during the tour was very helpful and polite. There wasn't any pressure on their part or anything, they're cordial, and they provided information and answered questions that I had. The place looked to me like they're good. The people that were there were in wheelchairs, they looked well cared for as far as appearance.

They were open with the information and the questions that we asked. The apartments were very nice. The one-bedroom seemed to be sufficient, but, if possible, we want to put my mother-in-law in something larger. We wish it was closer to where we live. The grounds were very nice.

My mother-in-law was over at The Fairmont for about a year. It’s a retirement facility where they prepare all of your meals, but she wasn’t happy with the food. We couldn’t get her to eat anything. She refused to socialize and snubbed her nose at everybody. She needed more help with everyday things, and we were wearing ourselves out even though it was only maybe 2 miles away going back and forth -- sometimes 1 to 2 times a day. The rooms were spacious. She had an efficiency, and she had more than enough room. We had a bed, a dresser, and a bookshelf. She had 2 living room chairs and a coffee table. It had a kitchenette, so she had a sink, a refrigerator, a microwave, and pantry. There were no stoves in any of the units because it would encourage the members to go down and have dinner in the dining room. She had a full-sized tub with a walk-in entrance to it. Everything was handicap-enabled. They had the emergency pull cord in the room. She had one of the smaller units. Some of the bigger units are quite big, and we would see people moving in and moving out bringing in full sets of furniture. The room was as big or as little as you wanted. They don’t provide a lot of care. You had to hire from the outside to provide care. The only thing that they provide is housekeeping service. The Fairmont is for somebody who has all their faculties and is still very independent.

The Fairmont is a beautiful and large facility. The lobby and dining area are large too. But the apartment itself was very small and I could not imagine how we will be able to get anything in there besides a single bed and a chair. Both gentlemen who assisted me were very cordial and friendly. But they kept on calling me, trying to convince me into signing the papers as soon as possible which I am not prepared to do because my mom-in-law is still in the hospital with pneumonia and I still could not make a decision. My first impression of The Fairmont was highly favorable but because of that, my final impression of them was quite the opposite. I really felt like they were badgering me. I felt like they were trying to sell me a car. I am giving them a rating of one star because of that. If not for that, I would have given the facility a four-star rating. I suggest they focus less about sales and focus more on what is really best for the prospective residents and their families.

The Fairmount was OK. It was $1,500 cheaper than other places, but I don’t think I really like it here and don’t know if Mom is going to stay for long. The staff helps her bathe, dress, and clean her room. The rooms are really nice and brand new. They have marble floors, brand-new carpets, and are very clean. They have doctors there, and the food is good. I don’t like the manager, but otherwise, I like everything about it.

We found a place for mom! Ron and I toured The Fairmont, in Manassas, VA. We were both very pleased with what we saw and heard. We also brought our mother out to the retirement community for her to see it and to get her feeling and opinion. We also had the opportunity to have lunch at their dining facility, with which we also had a very pleasant experience. We met and spoke with Jed. He was very easy to communicate with and more than willing to answer any of our questions. As an Independent Living Community, we were all pleased with the entire facility and the environment. So much so, that we signed a lease with this community for our mother, with Jed! Our mother was very pleased with the surroundings as there was much to like about the entire community. Thank you so much for all your help and patience and for all the information you have provided. Your assistance was very helpful and informative to both my brother and I, as we transitioned our mother into a retirement community. We are both very appreciative of your support and assistance. On behalf of my brother, Ron, and myself, and my mother, thanks again for all you valuable assistance.

The Fairmont was a nice place, but a little distant from where I live, and it would be hard to visit my daughter too often. However, the people and the programs seemed much better there than anything else we've seen. They had things set up, so they could take the residents shopping and to movies, and they had three films a week in the facility. They had a lot of other activities and clubs there. I am a friend or relative of a resident

I think the staff at The Fairmont is very friendly and professional. They seem to encourage the residents to get out and do things. My parents are limited because they are disabled. My mother can't walk. But the bingo and games that they come out with, music and trivia and stuff and whatever they do is always encouraging people to get out and participate in any way they can. That I like, and that is really good. They kind of like force you into it. That is what the people in this age needs. My parents need the encouragement, and they need to be pushed to do things. Physically, they can't, and my father has a case of Alzheimer's so he follows another round. Even the residents seem to be very friendly. Of course there are one or two people who are obnoxious, but you'll find them everywhere. The staff is great, and most of the residents are just helpful and friendly. I really have no complaints, and they seem to be happy there. It was a good choice. Not seeing many other places, I find it to be pleasing to the eyes. The dining area is in an atrium, and it is bright and sunny. It is an old building, but it has been maintained, and it has been upgraded. Having a lot of people in and out, it is going to have wear and tear, but they do maintain and keep up with it. The only thing I find odd since it is independent living, they don't have any cooking facilities. They come to the sink and a small refrigerator. We bought a larger refrigerator for them and bought a microwave. They didn't come with a microwave or anything to heat the food. My mother is a cook, and she loves her cooking. That is the only thing, but we knew that coming in. I can't really find any fault with the place or the staff. Right now everything has really been great. They communicate, and they helped when my mother needed some medication, and they were right on top of it. They called the pharmacy, and the pharmacy delivered. Whatever the needs are, they are there. They immediately reached out to me and my then daughter. So I think that was very good, and it was immediate. They didn't waste any time, and they just went and hop right on it. That I like because I think they put their residents first.

I lived in Fairmont. The management didn’t know what they were doing and they didn’t keep the place up. The staff there was wonderful and they got a great management team before it was changed and the one they have now is terrible. They have the greatest activities director but the management was lazy and was piling work on her. She had entertainment come in for the residents and she started a writing class. The rest of the staff were super great. They need to have a management that really cares about the residents.

I visited this facility

The one that we spent most time with and they spent most time with us was The Fairmont. We were attracted to it for several reasons. First of all, they were several floors high, but they did have one-bedroom like an efficiency apartment on the first floor with outside exposure. I had two dogs, and they said that they welcome them in their community. It seemed like it would work for me, and all of the people were extraordinary. They went out of their way to coordinate the availability of this particular unit. However, they only offered independent living.

The Fairmont was more affordable, and it was a smaller community. For independent living, it seemed to be kind of attractive. The dining area was nice. It was a little bit more family style, and it was toned down. It was not a big production and it was more of like a personal dining room. The food was better than hotdog. The room was adequate. You could have everything from efficiency apartment to a larger one-bedroom with a den. For a single person, they were adequate. They provided some transportation to take people to doctor's appointments. Occasionally, they would take them out to an outing, a shopping mall, to a theater, or something like that for those who don't drive. However, they were looking for more active seniors I would say between the 60 or 75 or so age bracket. They were not looking for people who needed nursing care. I would recommend them for the younger and more active people.

The Fairmont was very clean, and the people were very friendly and gave us a good tour. We looked at the rooms and the size of it. The place was secure and safe.

I liked best the staff of Fairmont; they were just very friendly. The facility was OK, but the crowded neighborhood was unappealing, and so the entrance or where you drive through to get there was unappealing, and that was why we ruled it out. The facility itself I would give a five, but the issue was the neighborhood frankly.

My mom is in The Fairmont. I like it overall. I like what it provides for the money. It is a nice place in a nice area, and it meets her needs. Everything is fine. It is very catering. It is like a home community. The key staff lives on site. They are there 24/7, and they go out of their way to accommodate the residents and make you feel you're in like a real community home. They provide very personalized service. They assign a mentor to each newcomer to the facility to help people acclimate and settle in. They introduce them to people and help them get used to the activities and show them around. I have no complaints whatsoever. They are over and above. We ordered a new TV for my mom, and when my sister went there to install it and hook up the cable, one of guys in the office did that for her. They do everything, and they are very accommodating. It is a reasonable and affordable place.

I visited this facility

The Fairmont was an older community and very dated. It didn't have that warm, cozy feeling. It was clean but the atmosphere was dated. You walk in and right to the right is their really big room where everyone dines. That was inviting but the furniture looked old and the pictures looked cheesy. It didn't have any elegance to it, it just of had a basic look and feel. It was clean, the outside was okay and the inside just looked okay. The rooms were average size and the windows looked dated. It had a little kitchenette, a little mini sink and a little mini refrigerator. The dining room was 2-story open and looked nice enough. The residents seemed happy so that's a good thing.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The Fairmont is an extremely friendly environment where the residents are known by their first names & watched out for by each other & the employees at the facility. There are two live-in couples that look after the residents & manage the facility, as well as, help serve at meal times. There are two washers & dryers for each floor & there are three floors. Everything is kept very clean & decorated for different seasons & is cheerful & tastefully decorated. There is a nice area around the facility for the residents to walk & enjoy the outdoors in seating areas as well. There are snacks & fruit & drinks available at all times within the dining room & my parents enjoy the three meals provided each day. The employees that clean the resident's apartments are consistently the same so that the residents get to know them & there is consistency in the same employees employed within the rest of the facility from the chef, cooks, servers & the bus driver who are all very personable, friendly & respectful. The activities director is very interactive & great with the residents as well. Overall, my parents enjoy living at the Fairmont!

The Fairmont is a property overseen by Holiday Retirement which oversees & maintains approximately 300 properties in the U.S. & Canada. Because of this, the standards of their facilities are well maintained. The Fairmont is equipped with many wonderful amenities including a Fitness room, Billiards lounge, T.V./Media Room with Nintendo Wii (commonly used for group bowling tournaments), three nutritious chef prepared meals a day, weekly house keeping & linen service, and a private dining room for special occasions. An especially unique perk to living within a Holiday Retirement community is their exclusive travel program wherein a resident may choose to visit any of the other 300 communities at no additional cost. It's a great opportunity to experience new areas, new communities, and meet new people. The rooms at the Fairmont are nice, standard & comfortable. Although nothing extraordinary or ornate, the community is such an inviting atmosphere that residents are invited to spend much of their time enjoying the various amenities. Also, four-legged friends are welcomed which is rare in most senior living communities. There's a full calendar of events from exercise classes & bingo to crafts & various card game nights. All in all, the Fairmont has many innovative & unique approaches to the network of communities they've created for their valued residents, and is a wonderful, warm environment for your loved one to thrive in.
