I visited this facility

The Residences at Thomas Circle was great. I have nothing against it. I was really surprised. It was nice. It's a beautiful place. The person who greeted me on the tour was wonderful. I thought the place was just what I wanted and just what I needed. I like that it's in town because I don't like being out in the country somewhere too far from town. The young lady there was very personable, very knowledgeable, very caring, and just very nice. I went into 3 or 4 of the apartments. I looked at two bedrooms, one bedroom and I looked at the den, which I fell in love with. I liked it because I didn't see a lot of seniors sitting around in wheelchairs looking sad and lost. It was a very busy place. It had a lot going for it. It has all kinds of activities. It had everything. It had a movie house, a family room, and two kinds of exercise rooms. The halls were nice and clean. The floors were beautiful. Everything had been renovated and remodeled. I saw the menus and where they ate. They have a bistro. You can even buy sandwiches. They can sell their stuff twice a week. They have a little store they open where they can sell their makings.

I visited this facility

I visited The Residences at Thomas Circle. The staff was terrific. There was a lot of activity going on. There was a good art room, a library, and several open areas to sit and chat; they were all very nice. The apartments were not luxurious, but they were very nice. They have a van and cars that can take you places. They have maid service, physical therapy, and meals. It all seems to be very comparative with other places. I thought it was a very nice place and very diverse. I am thinking about it. They really don't have much of an outdoor space. It's in a city block, and that's one of the downsides. They have a garden that opens up that you can sit in. It's very nice, and it's not expensive by any means. They have a pool up on the roof.

Provider Response

We know there’s a lot to take in when touring our community! Why not stop by again for a second look? Thank you for your visit, and thank you for this outstanding review.

I visited this facility

It's really the only good choice for a complete Senior Living Community in downtown Washington. It has everything I need - a tierred system, some meals, parking, pool, activities, cleaning services, gym, etc. Unfortunately, it is very expensive.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If I had another living parent who was interested in independent living, I would look no further than to the Residences at Thomas Circle. The staff at TC is excellent - caring, considerate, amiable, and knowledgable. The apartments for independent living are well appointed and an in home care facility is on the premises, making scheduling an aide easy and affordable as they offer half hour increments. A PT studio and a beauty salon are also easy to get to on the Lower Lobby. The meals are quite good. The location of Thomas Circle is also great - close to several grocery stores, pharmacies, and entertainment once it opens again. A bonus to my mother who moved in Jan '21, she and all the residents and staff were vaccinated against Covid. I cannot speak more highly of my family’s experience with Thomas Circle, especially staff members Denise K. and Laticia R., and Cameron B. of Life Matters

I visited this facility

We visited the Residences at Thomas Circle, it was very nice, and it was a much bigger and older building. You only get two meals a day, but they have a rooftop pool, and it was very nice. They have everything you can imagine there, with a beautiful outdoor garden, lovely tables, and umbrellas. It has a beautiful bistro in the basement, a big movie theater/auditorium, and lots of stuff like that. But you could tell it was painted many times over, and it wasn’t fresh. While we were waiting for our tour, the chef brought out a platter of pastries.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is a resident of The Residences at Thomas Circle, and our experience is very good. The staff seems to be very good to excellent now compared to the past. They retained staff now, although there's some turnover but that's expected. They seem to have some good activities and an excellent activities director. The food has been very good.

The Residences at Thomas Circle was overall fair, but I don't think the clinical services were as comprehensive or coordinated. I think the living, social environment, and activities were fine. My mom stayed in both the rehab and the assisted living. I also think it was overpriced for the comprehensiveness of the support offered.

I visited this facility

The apartments at The Residences at Thomas Circle were nice. My biggest issue with them was that they didn't sell their units. I'm looking for a place that I can buy, not rent. The dining area looked very nice. They have bus service to all kinds of activities, shows, museums, and other cultural events. They have a beautiful lobby, some outdoor space, and parking, which is important, because they're om downtown DC. The staff seemed great.

The Residences at Thomas Circle is very neat, bright, and cheerful. It looks more like a hotel than an assisted living place.

My mother-in-law has moved to The Residences, and she is very happy there. It is full care, so if she needs assisted living or skilled nursing, it is all there. We chose it because of the full range of care as well as the culture of the place. There are a lot of retired professionals there and people who have a similar intellectual background as my mother-in-law, so it seems like a good fit. There are so much activities, like movies and concerts in-house and out every night, and talks several times a week. The place is casual and not too fussy. The building is actually an old hotel.

I am an employee

The assisted living and memory care areas are understaffed. A gentleman was lost and died as a result. None of the actual staff who cares directly for your loved one is a native English speaker. The staff, esp. nurse has excessive turnover. Even in assisted living, you will need to hire private aides because the staff is inadequate, inattentive, and unskilled.

The Residences at Thomas Circle seems to be an adequate facility. It's well-kept and clean. The rooms were of adequate size as well. I was only interested in a one bedroom, and there was enough space for me if I intend to go there. They do provide three types of living from independent all the way to end of care life. Everyone was friendly too.

I visited this facility

I like the location of The Residences at Thomas Circle. It was an older facility. It was nicely done but it was definitely aged. However, it was very clean. One thing I didn't like about their rooms was that they didn't have central heating. The staff was adequate but I didn't have much contact with them. They did have activities like movie every nights and games. They have specific-interest groups like German club and French club. They would have people come in and do lectures. They also have religious services there.

The Residences are well run, immaculate and have a lovely, caring staff. Along with the day to day services there are a plethora of extra activities. The residents are varied but have one thing in common - they are well educated, interesting people who expect to live in a stimulating atmosphere.

My grandmother is a resident of this facility, and she loves it.The people there are very friendly, and they have a lot of great amenities..The apartments are spacious, and most of them have balconies, and my two favorite amenities are the 24-hour emergency call system and the special bathroom fixtures for the elderly. They offer movie/bingo nights, exercise classes, and bible study/Sunday services, which my grandmother enjoys thoroughly. The community boasts a bistro, a fitness & wellness center, a chapel, a salon, a convenience store, a computer lab, a theater room, and MUCH more, but the highlight of the community has got to be the rooftop patio and swimming pool. My grandma loves it, so I love it.

This facility offers independent and assisted living and memory care"”and recently added skilled nursing care. It's in a very nice, beautiful building that has a downtown feeling. The rooms are of a nice size; most residents have a private bedroom and bath. There is also a common bathing area for those need assistance, and a common dining area and dayroom for activities that everyone can use. The activities in the memory care area seem fitting for the residents' abilities"”and the nurses are right there supervising them. For those in assisted living, outings and many other types of activities are offered, in addition to group exercise classes. The quality of care is pretty good. The nurses seem to be involved and engaged with residents. There's a good staff to resident ratio. Occupational therapists, physical therapists, dentists"”all different disciplines are made available conveniently. As for food, there are several options provided for the more independent residents. The food is varied and appealing. Snacks also are provided throughout the day. There seems to be a variety of residents at this facility"”from very independent who can still go out in the community to those who need a lot of care. The cost is moderate, and Medicaid is accepted.
