Rossmoor is in dire need of repairs. The sidewalks are fall and trip hazards due to tree roots lifting the cement up in various places. The lighting along those sidewalks is so poor (25 watt yellow colored lights) you need to bring a flashlight to see after dark. The transitions from the sidewalk are poorly marked - all the paint has come off which makes it very difficult to see where to step. The staircases are wobbly and bolts are loose. The grounds are not kept up because the trees continuously drop gigantic pointy seed balls which litter the already uneven sidewalk. My parents have fallen numerous times and they refuse to repair the sidewalks (need to rip them out and replace). I imagine it is cheaper to try and placate the few people who actually have family that will take Rossmoor to court than it is to make necessary repairs to ensure the health and safety of the residents. As for any other care needs, such as assisted, etc, Rossmoor does not provide this. There is a horrible dump outside Rossmoor where the residents go when they need a higher level of care. Unfortunately, the elderly do not complain, and their cognitive limitations preclude them from seeing things as they true are. This allows Rossmoor to get away with housing the residents in dangerous living spaces.

I've lived here for 10 years and have never seen a safer, more beautiful place to live. The Bay Area is not a cheap place to live, but relatively speaking, Rossmoor condos cost about half of those outside our gate. Rossmoor is located in the heart of Walnut Creek, 25 miles east of San Francisco, a brief BART ride away. Its condos and coops surround a mile long valley with two golf courses and a creek running down its length. Shopping and medical facilities are just outside the gate. With over 200 clubs of every imaginable sort, it isextremely easy to meet people who shared the same interests, values, age, and activity levels. There's always something going on, and it's always voluntary. Choices include free movies, cultural events, sports, concerts, organized travel, educational workshops, and much more. A great place to keep active, if you want. There are five clubhouses, eight tennis courts, three swimming pools, world class lawn bowling, a first-rate restaurant, and much more. Although I have lived and traveled all over the world, from Tokyo to Heidelberg, I now find that when I go on vacation, I look around and wish I were back in Rossmoor.

My wife and I lived in Rossmoor Walnut Creek for five years. It's a smaller duplicate of my current community, and we were very happy there. It's a beautiful and well-maintained place, and it's in a small valley with a running creek. We had a nice 2-bedroom, 2-bath residence. The deer, does, and bucks, and so on would come and lie down on our patio in the spring. I would have stayd there, but we had to move because of my wife's condition. It has all the amenities and clubs for the residents. There's Wii bowling, basketball, ping pong, and there are many things to do. They also have two golf courses; a nine and an 18-hole. The residences and the grounds are well maintained, and the facilities are beautiful. They have a good restaurant, they have a theater where they have plays, and so on. It's just that it's only a retirement community and they dont offer any kind of care. If I had someone come in to assist me, that would be an additional fee. The staff is warm and accommodating, and less businesslike.

I'd like to correct some misinformation. Rossmoor is an active adult community with neither an assisted living center or place for memory care. We not only have friends who live there but have thoroughly checked into it for our selves. One place is called congregant living for people, like us, who like the option of sometimes eating with others and having someone else do the weekly cleaning. People truly needing assisted living need help with daily tasks, like taking medicine or bathing. And they wouldn't be making use of the washer and dryer and a full kitchen in each condo in that building.

Rossmoor is very big with seven swimming pools and a golf course. The units are new, very clean, and well managed. They have a fancy club and a lot of activities. They have a monthly HOA fee, and you can buy a single house, or condo. The staff is great. If I live there, I think I will live a happy life, but it's far away from my daughter.

I didn't care for Rossmoor Walnut Creek. It is just too big. They have 20,000 residents, so it is like a small town. The dining area was very good. There is a nice golf course, swimming pool, and tennis court and all kinds of other activities.
