I visited this facility

My husband and I had been searching for a place for my parents. Mom has had recent falls. Mr. Currie gave our family a thorough tour and professionally answered all of our questions/concerns. The reason we did not pick "The Lodge" was because another place had a heated indoor pool that would benefit my Mom's recovery, and my parents really wanted a full kitchen in case they wanted to prepare meals occasionally, for themselves. Should our needs change in the future, we would happily choose "The Lodge". The staff and residents are very friendly and the facility is kept very clean!

I went to look at The Lodge at Wake Forest. The price is reasonable. The facility is clean. The staff was wonderful. If I had to go to a place, I would choose them. I saw three different apartment models. I saw one bedroom, a small two-bedroom, and a larger two-bedroom. You could bring your own furniture. Some of them had kitchenettes. You can have people wash your clothes or wash them yourself. It includes three meals a day. It was just a very classy-looking place. It smelled good. Everything was neat. They had a physical therapy area with maybe 3 or 4 pieces of equipment. If you wanted to be away from everybody else, they had places for you to sit. You could sit outside. The cable was included. They had a salon and a barbershop. You pay for that separately. They would provide linen and sheets. Somebody would come in and clean once a week, which was included. The staff was not pushy. He was very calm, informative, and caring, and made sure all your questions were answered.

I chose the Lodge at Wake Forest for myself. Everybody is very, very friendly, and there's a lot of activities. My apartment is quite cute. It's a one bedroom, one bathroom, living area, and it's very nice. The cleanliness and upkeep is very, very good. The food is excellent. We have a game room with a pool table and other tables where you can do puzzles or play games. We have an activity room where we play bean bag baseball or bingo. There's a lot going on. The staff here is wonderful.

The Lodge at Wake Forest was probably my least favorite. The residents seemed very friendly. They had three meals a day, but the kitchen was not a kitchen. It was just a refrigerator and a little sink. We would like to have more than that. Also, the laundry room was at the end of the hall. There were just a lot more cons than pros. We had a meal there, and it was OK. We had a choice of salmon or roast beef, a vegetable, a salad, and a little dessert. They had little common areas and did different activities, but the activities didn't really interest us. They were like card games. They only had one elevator. If that was broken and you were handicapped, you had to stay on the first floor or you had to stay in your apartment. That was a big no. It just didn't appeal to us, but the staff did well.

I visited The Lodge at Wake Forest. The tour was one of the most thorough ones. It was our second one, so we knew some more questions asked and we were more willing to give time to it. The person who gave us the tour was very informative and very helpful. She knew what was going on and spoke to the other residents by name. It's a nice place, but its location is sort of a main highway. When you're old, you don't want to be in that if you can avoid it, but you do the best you can. It's very nice, and the floorplan is depending on what you're looking for, whether you want a ground floor or upper-level, elevators, the whole nine yards. Generally speaking, it's a very nice place. The only factor I didn't like about it was the location.

I would recommend The Lodge at Wake Forest. I like that the rooms are spacious. The food was great there. They had a ton of activities to keep everybody going. They had a bus if you needed to go to any sort of doctor's appointment. All around, it was a great place. Tina was very upbeat and energetic. She was in contact with me, and the communication was great. I didn't eat anything, but the cook sent me back with a bunch of homemade cookies that he just made.

Provider Response

Thanks so much for your recommendation, Shari!

I moved into The Lodge at Wake Forest a week ago. The experience has been very, very good. The residents are very, very nice. The staff has been wonderful. I chose it because it was close to where my son lives, and I had heard real good reviews. Also, the price was a little bit lower than some of the others. The food is excellent. They're doing some renovations and updates right now. What they are doing is beautiful. They have activities and amenities every day. I have not been able yet to take part in any, but I plan to in the future. They have bingo and volleyball. They have the Wii. They have a chapel. They have services. They have movie nights. It's just a variety of things. Plus, they have their bus. They'll take you wherever you need to go. They have a day for shopping for all things that you need.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad moved into The Lodge at Wake Forest. I don't know if it would be the perfect fit for everyone that may need more care. It's retirement living, not assisted living. There are assisted on-site that you can hire, but you have to hire them separately, so it's not all-inclusive. My dad is in independent living with a hired home care. The staff members are very knowledgeable, very kind, warm, welcoming, and attentive. The food is amazing, and that is one of the biggest positives. They have a chef on-site who meets with the residents weekly to talk about the menu that they want to see next week. They make every meal to be like a restaurant outing. They treat them like they're being served a special meal. Every meal is like a social event, and it's great. It feels more like a home than an institution. The facility is very clean. The resident's rooms are maintained weekly. The laundry rooms are very well-kept, and there's a laundry room on every floor. They have a choir and regular worship services of several different denominations. They have bingo several times. They have live entertainment, like a piano player that comes in for meals sometimes. They have bingo baseball, and all the residents come out for that. They have puzzles and a library. The residents are the ones that run the activities. So everyone's involved and friendly. I'm just ever thankful that it's within my father's budget because of all the things they have to offer.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have lived at The Lodge since January. I think the apartment is fabulous - it's just what I wanted. It's got great light, there is nature outside and there is plenty of space. I have plenty of room for storage and all of my belongings. The good thing about the smaller spaces in a community like this is that you don't have to walk long distances to get where you need to go. The staff is always very efficient, caring and kind. They are very empathetic but they get the job done. I like participating in group crossword, trivia, beanbag baseball, volleyball, and jingo. I benefit from the onsite therapy and our weekly exercise classes. I think the chef has a wonderful variety of food options. He does a great job of preparing the food and it is always exceptional (and I am a food person!).

I had a good tour at the Lodge at Wake Forest. They showed me a little apartment, but it's small for me, and they only had a 1-bedroom left. They have a lot of games like bingo, and people seemed to enjoy and interact with each other. The cafeteria was very inviting, the staff was very nice, very pleasant, very accommodating, and I have nothing but praise for them. I had a special luncheon with them, it was outstanding, but when I looked at their menu, it wasn't the same. The layout was very nice, with sun coming in the windows, and so it was very inviting.

I visited the Lodge at Wake Forest, and I enjoyed it. It was very nice. The people were very friendly. I liked all the amenities they have. We stayed there for lunch, talked to a resident who had been there for a long time, and she was very happy. The food is good, we saw the menu, and you can select off the menu every day. They serve snacks, sandwiches and cookies all day long, and you can always go there to take something. The meal times are set, so you can eat if you missed the meals. However, the rooms were a little too small for my furniture, and they don't have a kitchenette, and that's what I needed. It's in a good location. The staff member was very helpful, she showed me the rooms, and the staff member in the dining room was very pleasant.

The Lodge at Wake Forest is fabulous. It is the nicest place I've been to. It is top of the line. I wish I have gotten my senior there quicker. I've never seen anything cleaner and as well kept as this one. The food is fabulous. The cookies were delicious. I was also very impressed with the way they serve their residents. I saw a one-bedroom, which was extremely clean and nice. It was very good. They have a beauty shop for haircuts for people who can't get out. They also have physical therapy right there for them, so they don't have to do anything. I would recommend highly to anybody that is looking. The staff was so nice and so kind to me. They were very helpful. They keep me informed and up-to-date on what's available.

We like The Lodge at Wake Forest. It was very good. As a matter of fact, after we got there, we learned that my wife has two or three friends who are residents there. The rooms were very nice and accommodating; however, once you see facilities that have a laundry in each apartment, you're disappointed at other facilities like this one that only have two laundry rooms on each floor without good access to them. Nevertheless, the grounds were excellent. They had porches and rentals for garage parking available for cars, which impressed us. The place was very clean and well-appointed. The food was excellent, too. The staff was very good.

There wasn't anything wrong with this facility; it's just I liked others better. The residential units were very nice but didn't have a kitchen, just a kitchenette and were fairly small. Staff and residents were very friendly and knowledgeable.

I was treated very nicely at The Lodge at Wake Forest. I like all the people that I met and I like their facilities. It is close to my family, and I have a friend that will be there. It had everything I needed. The meals, the location, and the friendliness are what sold me on the place. It was very nice and very clean. The apartments were beautiful and well decorated, and the food was good.

We went to The Lodge at Wake Forest. It was close to my house, and my mom decided. We went and looked at the facility. It was a very nice place. It looked like the accommodations would certainly work out. For her, I thought it was reassuring just to find that that kind of place was available. They showed us the area, but we did not have a meal. We did not schedule a visit with them; we just dropped in, but we could certainly go back and have a meal if we wanted. The residents seemed to be very pleasant and seemed to be enjoying themselves playing cards and talking in one room. I thought it was an outstanding place from what I saw.

My mom is at The Lodge at Wake Forest. The room has got a bedroom, a huge living room, and a kitchenette. The food is delicious, and the menus are well put together, very professionally done. The dining room has tables set, scattered around, and you’re free to sit where you want. They have a section off to the side for private dining. They have bingo and several other things. They have outings to different places as mom talks about them all the time. The safety and security of the place is very good. You have to have a E-card to get in and out.

My wife and I visited The Lodge at Wake Forest. We thought that was an excellent place. It was just very attractive. The dining room had a high ceiling, two or three stories high, so it’s not a noisy place. It had wide corridors. The staff was excellent. We went to seven or eight different places, and we put them the highest.

I liked best the friendliness of the people at The Lodge at Wake Forest and the open dining area. Their kitchen area was too small. It was really one of the deciding factors. The staff was friendly; they were terrific. It would have been a harder decision if the kitchen area was bigger. But it was just a little corner of the apartment that did not have a stove. That's what we did not like about it.
