I toured Holiday Diamond Ridge. It was clean, bright, and sunny, with a lot of windows. The rooms were spacious. It was nice. They had a nice dining room. I only spoke to one person and she was lovely. They had a barbershop, a game room, a library, and a puzzle room set up. They had a lot of nice places.

Holiday Diamond Ridge was nice. I absolutely loved the whole apartment. I would have taken that one in a heartbeat, except for that it didn't have a kitchen stove in it, and also the price was a little high for me. I said to the guy that I can only go at a certain income, because my husband and I only have so much that we get per month, and I don't want to go beyond our means. The guy was very friendly and most knowledgeable. There were a few things he wasn't sure about and he admitted to that, but if you can tell me that you're not sure of something instead of hiding it, I respect you more. He was wearing multiple hats. He was here and there and doing a few different things. So, he was very professional considering that he was multitasking. The people that lived there were friendly, too. We were almost there at lunch time and the area where they ate seemed very clean, very neat, and very professional. Everything was there, even your meals. They actually cook and provide your meals three times a day, which I'm not used to because I cook my own food still. I like it, but I like to cook sometimes for myself.

I visited Holiday Diamond Ridge, and I was impressed with it. I kind of liked that idea of independent living, but I still like to cook and all 3 meals were included in the rent, which was nice. But if you don't feel like eating what they got, you're stuck, in a way. I saw a lot of people milling around, people getting together and enjoying each other's company. The staff showed me a chapel and they got all these other rooms that are available to you. I, myself, was looking for a 2-bedroom apartment because I wanted to use one as a so-called office. I was quite impressed with the cleanliness and how friendly everybody was. I thought the apartment was a good size. I was quite impressed when I first drove up because it was very nice, and the inside was very clean and well-kept. They were remodeling and updating some stuff, which was good that they kept up on that. The staff was very pleasant and very knowledgeable, and you could tell she enjoyed her work. She enjoyed meeting the people and she was very friendly, not pushy, and very nice. I saw the menu for the day, and it was pretty good. They were getting the dining room ready for lunch. If I decide and I have to go to someplace like that, I would consider this facility.

We went to look at Holiday Diamond Ridge. My first impression was that it was amazing. It looked beautiful on the outside. The apartments were way more spacious than I expected. It was way cleaner than I expected. The staff and residents were super nice. It was just an overall great experience, especially for my first time. My grandfather ate there, and it was good. It's kind of far from where I currently live, but other than that, it was great.

Everything seemed to be OK at Holiday Diamond Ridge. It's beautiful there. It's nice, clean, and quiet. It's a comfortable setting. The dining room was awesome. I met a few residents, and everybody seemed happy. However, it's not in my parents' budget. They also want something that they could do on their own, like to cook. So that's not really the environment that they want right now.

Holiday Diamond Ridge was clean, but it was an older facility. I felt as though it was like being in a hotel with several different wings and I was just afraid mom might get lost in there and that she would come out of her apartment not knowing which way she needed to turn to go to the dining room. So, that was kind of one of my concerns, but Lisa was very nice and did a very nice job. I liked the idea that they offer a snack bar area all day long. They had sidewalks that you could walk around and gardens that you could sit and look at.

Holiday Diamond Ridge was just close by so that was a selling point for me. It's only 20 miles away from where I live currently and my father can afford it. The facility was beautiful and had a lot of benefits. You would have three different laundromats on site and it is free. You would just pay for your detergent. There are three meals provided a day with snacks. Once a week, housekeeping would come in and do some light housework. Dad would be in a handicap-accessible unit, which would be wonderful. It's all just been refurbished so it's got fresh paint, fresh carpet, and fresh flooring in the kitchen. There's transportation to and from doctor's appointments, not to mention just all of the socialization you're going to have just living in a community with other people as opposed to living by yourself. There are three different floors. They have studio apartments, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. They have a library, a gym with workout equipment, and a room where they have occupational and physical therapy. Now that's not included in the costs. You would have to pay extra for that. Dad is going to get one of those life-alert necklaces that he's going to wear. So should he ever need something, there's always some staff on hand that can come to him.

I visited this facility

I toured the Diamond Ridge and I found it very acceptable as far as accommodations. However, I was more reluctant in joining as of yet because of the age of the population. When I finally decide to go into an independent living situation, I will be looking for a younger crowd. The only thing that concerns me is the entrance to the main area. There was a huge sort of welcoming overhang and one of the pieces of vinyl on the ceiling was hanging. I was saying, 'Why don't they fix that?' It's right there where someone was going to walk under. Also in the apartment, there was a hole that was in the ceiling part of the balcony for the next balcony, and the person that was guiding me through said that that is the vent, but it's like unfinished because it doesn't have a vent cover. It was just like a hole in the ceiling about the size of 6 square inches on the balcony on the corner. In general, everything looked comfortable and clean, except for those two things that needed to be fixed. The most important thing was the vinyl covering to the ceiling of the entranceway. It was a walkway that was covered that had a piece of vinyl hanging. The facility in itself, the indoor part, was a 5 because it smelled clean, and looked clean. They have an exercise room with some equipment, they have an arts and crafts room, they have a social area, they have a library, and they have garden areas. It was very nice.

The Diamond Ridge facility was nice. It's probably not a choice that I would have chosen, because it felt a little older and the single studios or 1-bedrooms were kind of dated. I kind of wanted a newer feel and more up-to-date type of facility. The dining room looked gorgeous, very clean, very meticulously set up, and very lovely. But the living quarters themselves were not anything that I would be interested in because I thought they were dated. The gentleman who assisted me during the tour was very nice and knowledgeable. They have a happy hour for the people, they also had an outdoor area which would be nice to go out and you could have your animal or your dog come and visit. Some people have them live with them, so that's a very nice feature. It's very nice and quiet. We didn't try the food but they showed me a menu.

I visited this facility

We toured Diamond Ridge and that was my least favorite of all the places we visited. It just seemed like we were an inconvenience to be there to be given a tour. It just started with that. The facility had all the amenities that the others have like the weight room and a salon. They are also due for renovation. It's only independent living so if you need anything extra, you would need to arrange for it from outside contractors. They could make arrangements for them to come in if you need assistance but that's all they can do. It's all because of the impression and the impression we got there was that we were an inconvenience. The person who was supposed to deal with us didn't know that we were coming, she was busy, and didn't have time so I'm not sure where the communication breakdown was. It's on the very north end of Troy, what they call the Lansingburgh area, and about a mile or so down the hill, there's a supermarket, there are restaurants around, hospitals probably about two miles away. So they are not far from all of these places.

We love Diamond Ridge. This place is perfect for my friend. They had everything that you could imagine. Everything is in one building. So my friend likes it, and it's five minutes from us. The staff was wonderful. We watched some of the other staff members with the tenants, and they were nice. The facility is very clean. The room is very clean and accommodating. They set the heat and stuff, so it was nice and warm. The whole atmosphere was comfortable. The people were comfortable. They have a community center, arts and crafts, theater, and some exercise equipment. They have a pool table, library, barbershop, and hair salon. They have onsite laundry for free. They have everything but a pool. They have a smoking area for smokers. You can have a grill if you have a patio. It's the next phase of living for older folks. I like the place. If I was 65, I would go there. Everybody was friendly. They all had smiles on their faces. They were happy to have us there. We talked to the arts and crafts lady, and she was a pleasure. We weren't rushed at all. The building was very well taken care of.

My brother moved into Diamond Ridge. It's independent, but with meals. He likes the apartment, and he likes having meals. There are people there, and if he needs something they can help them with things. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. They have an activity director, I believe, who plans classes or activities. They have bingo, a jeopardy game, and a trivia game. They have a bus for transportation to doctor's appointments. They have housekeeping and they do housekeeping once a week. They change the linens once a week, and that's very helpful. It's a little outdated, the dining room could use updating, but it's very clean, very nice.

My tour at Diamond Ridge was good. I didn't see too much staff nor do as much there as the other place I visited. It's very clean and the interior was appealing. We were looking at a studio at the time, it's good and there's nothing wrong with any of them. It's just a matter of preference. They had a library, exercise bicycles, and a dining room. It's a different layout but it's fine. They have about the same activities such as bingo, painting, puzzles, arts, and exercise.

I visited Diamond Ridge, and I was very impressed with it. I would have no qualms about my mother going there. She is being a little resistant about things, so I'm still trying to help them to see if I can get my mother to go out there and take a look at it. They had everything; they have dining and housekeeping. The apartments looked very nice. They have a library. It's just lovely, the grounds are lovely, and a pretty dining room. They have a private dining room that if your family wanted to go out and just be there, you can have that dining room. So, I was very impressed with that. They gave me a salad when I left. It was chicken with walnut, strawberries, and greens. It was lovely and it was very good. They have a lovely patio, and a little fire pit out there. They have flowers. It was lovely, and very nice. The staff was very good, and I met the other director; he came over, Bob. He was excellent. They both followed up with me. Laurie called me yesterday, and Bob called me this morning.

My overall tour experience at Diamond Ridge was very good. The staff member that walked me through during the tour was wonderful. The facility was fine, it was very nice, and it's more than what I needed for myself. They have three meals a day. It was a little too far out from where I want to be, but it was nice. The food was wonderful and the variety was very good. It's definitely a positive place for sure.

I visited this facility

Diamond Ridge invited us for lunch, so we ate with one of their resident ambassadors. The facility was nice, the dining room was big, bright, and airy, and the food was alright. They have waitresses that come around and you have choices of items you want to eat. It's a three-story building with a capacity of maybe 200, so it was big. It's a setback from the road and a bit isolated. There's nothing around it. It's on top of a hill. The rooms and everything was nice. They showed us the rooms, they were unfurnished since it's an independent living, and you have to supply your own furniture. They had a salon and a library too. It felt like a hotel. The biggest turnoff we had was the staff being very pushy and aggressive. They play with dynamic pricing. It's like a supply and demand thing. They showed us two rooms and we asked about the price. She had an iPad or a tablet with her and she said, "Let me check. Oh, the pricing today is X, but if you sign today, we can guarantee the price. If you wait for it tomorrow, the price could be X plus Y." So, it's not a fixed rate. She added that we had to sign that day, otherwise, the price would move up. We didn't sign it and said that we would think about it. Also, there's a big entrance fee that you have to pay which is about $2700. We didn't reply for two days and she called me back two days later and said "Oh we waived the entrance fee." If we signed right away, we would have had to pay an extra $2700. That was kind of aggressive marketing.

Provider Response

Hello Edward and thank you for taking the time to review Diamond Ridge. We're happy that you had the opportunity to check out some of the common areas and amenities that the community has to offer, as well as enjoy lunch with a resident. Our goal is to help seniors find a home in our community and part of that process is to find them something that is within their budget. That is why sometimes community rates are dynamic based on availability as well as any monthly offers that might be applicable to help save some money. We appreciate your feedback so that we can always continue to improve.

We chose Diamond Ridge for mom because it was affordable for her, and the place was beautiful. They have a beautiful dining room. The whole place is beautiful. They have flowers all over, and it's very pleasant looking. Even out in the patio or backyard, they have rocking chairs and a firepit. It's very, very nice. They have a great chef. The rooms are perfect size. She has a studio. She has a walker, so she doesn't need that much room. It's a perfect size for her. The food looked good to me. When I dropped my mom off as we were leaving, the chef gave us homemade pickles. They knock on her door for 8:00 breakfast, 12:00 lunch, and 5:00 dinner. She can walk around. She's not incontinent. She just has a hard time with her arthritis sometimes. That's why we have people come and get her for dinner because she needs help with her food, and she can't cook. The staff is great. The home health aide is the one that goes up and gets my mom for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She also gives her a shower, and my mom loves her. She thinks she's great. The staff also brings them to doctors' appointments. I personally haven't had the food, but it looked excellent. There's a lady that comes in and does games: beanbag games, archery, and dartboard. A lot of people were doing that. They have a lot of activities, and everybody gets involved in them. It's worth the price.

Diamond Ridge seemed fine, but it was not quite what I was looking for. There were two staff who assisted me. They were both fine, informative, and helpful. The room is not what I'm used to living in. I did not like the showers. They had shower curtains, and I hate shower curtains. Otherwise, it was a fine place. The grounds were lovely. The rooms were not quite what I was hoping for. They have a dining room. The hair salon does not currently have an operator. The exercise equipment is quite empty. I saw some activities. They were playing board games and sitting outside. The grounds are very nicely done there, and that's very nice. I looked at the menu. It looked fine, but I have a lot of food intolerances. It needed some new carpeting, but it looked clean. It's too far away from my friends and family.

My father has moved into Diamond Ridge. It's very clean, and everyone is very nice there. He has a cute little apartment, and I think he is happy there, which is important to me. He doesn't get around too much because he's got his own health issues, but they give him his meals, so all in all I think it is a decent place. I think their service is good. It's clean, it looks great, and it looks very appealing. From what I know and from what I hear from people there, their activities are good. Also you can either go to the dining room and they set it up, or they bring it to your room. He is happy with his meals, but they probably give him too much of it as he has plenty. The staff members are very friendly, too.

this is the worst place ever, management changes regularly, staff is not compassionate nor caring. Rent is ridiculous and they don't give 3 meals a day any more. Food is not dietary at all. Rooms are nice however the air conditioning hardly works. Elevator goes out a lot so people are trapped on the floors. There used to be actives but staff doesn't care. If your family member is very ill they will take you in and charge over $2500 a month for nothing

Provider Response

Hi there, thank you for your review. Our team has continued to provide 3 meals daily, as well as 2 snacks per day. Our activities have also continued, socially distanced, and within only small groups to abide by the guidelines. We have not experienced any issues with the elevator within the recent weeks, and our tech has recently visited for his monthly maintenance check. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please feel free to reach out to the community directly. Thank you

My mother is at Diamond Ridge. She likes it there, but she misses her friends. There is a lady that takes care of her pills and her laundry once a week, and she's absolutely terrific. It's a nice place, it's clean, and I have no complaints. They play bingo pretty much every day, and they really seem to keep them busy all the time. My only worry is that they will raise their price so much that she won't be able to afford to live there, which is what happened at the other place.

I didn't choose Diamond Ridge because I didn't think it was capable of handling my father's needs. It wasn't that expensive, but I didn't like it. The room we saw was like a mile from the lunchroom and I didn't think he'd be able to handle the distance. Their dining area was OK. They have a library/game room. The residents were elderly and most of them used walkers. It would be good if the person that was going to live there was a little independent. I met the head of admissions and one of the nurse's assistants and I felt like they were pushing me to go there (and I didn't like that).

The dining area was beautiful, and they did have a private dining area that you could use for private parties. It was perfect.

I'm in Diamond Ridge now. I was having a lot of trouble with cooking, and this community serves three meals a day. They have activities, and the people here are really nice. If they had a pool, I'd give it a 5, but they don't have a pool. We do have somebody who comes in and washes the floor and vacuums some stuff. Other than that, the apartment is left to me, but I'd say it's very good. The hallways are really clean, and the common areas are clean, so the cleanliness is good.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We chose Diamond Ridge which is a retirement home. My husband’s sister in law is there. They don’t have a nursing facility, and she is beyond that. We have to pay extra care for her there which is not good. They don’t provide any extra care for the person who stays there. If anyone needs nursing care or help with their pills, you have to hire someone to come and do that. However, this place is great for a retirement community. This is really a lovely place; it is really very comfortable and spacious. The grounds are lovely. They have two bedroom places. Now what she has is just a kitchen and just one room. That one room has her bed in it. She has a single bed, a chest of drawers on one side, her television stand with her tv, and she has three chairs on the other side. It has a large bathroom with a shower. There’s a refrigerator and three closets too. Her bedroom is carpeted; the kitchen is tiled. They provide the linens for the bed and change the bed once a week. They also provide the towels for the bathroom. They will come in once a week and clean. Now if you want to clean it more often, you have to hire somebody to do it or do it yourself. Everybody in the place is lovely. The person who manages it is very nice. The staff is great. They’re very nice. Actually, when my husband and I retire and we don’t want to do any cooking, I think we will go there. Their food is good. They serve three meals a day. Sometimes when we go there and decide to stay there for lunch, we could go in to the dining room with her and have lunch, dinner, or breakfast and there’s no charge. We can just go in with her and sit down and eat. It’s great. They have entertainment that comes to the place. They have a bus that can take you to different places. She pays $2000 a month here for everything, and that is all she can afford.

I found Diamond Ridge, which is close by, when I made some inquiries. She is very happy and very much enjoying life in her new home. She has nothing but good things to say: the staff runs well and the meals are good, keeping her healthy. She looks the best I have ever seen her look. It’s a nice, clean place, but I noticed that the residential leadership people in the program keep rotating in and out, and I think that causes some confusion for some of the people who live there about who is running the place right now.

My mother of 86 years old has lived at Diamond Ridge for about four years. Each year the rent has risen dramatically. This year tops the cake -- her rent is being increased by $1300!!! She can no longer afford to stay at Diamond Ridge. What person on a fixed income can afford almost $4,000 in rent for mediocre meals and questionable staff. This is ridiculous!
