Holiday Birch Heights

I loved the setup of Holiday Birch Heights. The dining area was beautiful and there were a lot of places to go and sit. We toured the game rooms and 2 one bedrooms. One was bigger than the other one and everything looked very nice. The grounds looked well kept and it was bigger than I thought it would be. It's very spread out. There's only one elevator and I have trouble walking, so I need to bring a walker to get around that place, depending on where my room would be, but I enjoyed the tour. The residents were friendly and the staff was very good. It's independent living but they make your bed and change your sheets, which are all terrific to me. They provide three meals a day, so you don't have to worry about cooking. If you need someone to help you get dressed or shower, you can hire someone on your own, too. They have a shuttle bus that takes you around to different stores or they'll take you to a doctor's office where you can make arrangements to do that. So, that would fill all the needs I have for sure. The staff was very helpful and very knowledgeable about everything. I got a lot of information to take back with me. They gave me coffee and it was good. They even had snacks or a sandwich there or a fruit. If you got hungry during the day or maybe you didn't get up for breakfast or something, you could still go down and grab something if you don't always get up early.

Mom is at Holiday Birch Heights. It's all independent living, but they provide three meals a day and they can have entertainment and other activities. Overall, they do a good job. They've got a staff that looks over all the people and then a full kitchen with chefs that prepare all the meals. They also go downstairs to play bingo. They have a pool table. The grounds are kept up nicely and they do a good job in landscaping. The rooms are nice as well. They have a studio apartment, but they also have a one and a two-bedroom.

My tour at Birch Heights was very good. It was open and there were lots of lights. It just seemed very inviting. They have a game room, they have different clubs or groups, they have a movie night, and they do activities and take them to plays and concerts. They have a salon, they have a laundry room, and they have church services like non-denominational services. It was a very nice area. Nice people.

Birch Heights was very nice. That's the place I'm hoping to get my mother in. I was impressed with the cleanliness, the whole setup of the place, and the people that run it. I also noticed that they have all kinds of activities which my mother would enjoy. They were very informative. It just seemed like a nice place for my her to be.

Birch Heights is very nice. The place is beautifully landscaped. It has walkways around it so that you can get some exercise in. The apartments are a good size, and the meals are included with what you're paying per month. They've got beautiful facilities in the place. They have a library and a beautiful dining room. It's beautifully set up. Each floor as you walk down feels welcoming.

We chose Birch Heights for my parents because it's right around the corner for me, and they don't want to leave Derry. It's pretty much the nicest in the area. The thing that we like is that it's close to me. They have a lot of onsite amenities like they don't have to go to the hair salon; it is already on site. They have a bus that can bring you to different places, so you don't have to worry about driving, and everything is just updated. It's just nice. The dining area was bright, open, and clean, and everybody seemed friendly. The person who gave me the tour was very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave lots of information that I didn't know previously like different resources that we can look into for other things that they might need, so that was helpful. They were very helpful in giving me ins and outs of what to do, and how to look for other things as well. My parents won't be involved in activities because they keep to themselves, unfortunately. But Birch Heights does have a common room where they do things in. I told my mom, 'Let's get you out and get you involved with other people,' but they don't do that. That's not something that they care too much for whereas somebody who is more outgoing would enjoy it and be able to be more active with other things. There were a lot of people around, but I just wasn't paying attention to what they were doing. There was a rec room on site where they could play cards, play music, or just hang out with everybody. I didn't try their food, but I saw the dining area. They have different options like diabetic options and things like that, so that was very helpful. They try to cater to what dietary needs and what everybody needs, which is helpful. Everything was clean and very well put together. They have landscaping. The apartments were nice.

I toured Birch Heights a while ago, but that's out of the question because it is only independent living. If I started needing help, I would have to move to assisted living. I couldn't stay there. I liked the apartments. They were bright and cheery. The place was well kept. Mostly the apartments had nice windows, so there's a lot of light that came in. They had all kinds of activities that I did not pay attention to once I realized they were strictly independent living. At the time I wanted independent living, but then as things changed, I realized I couldn't do it, so I didn't pay that much attention except to the living arrangements. The staff I met were very pleasant. It was quiet because it was still COVID, everybody had their masks on. The facility looked very good. I thought it was well done and well kept.

I liked Birch Heights very much, it was very nice. It was more affordable than the other places, but it did not include any type of nursing care, so that was the downside for us. For somebody who doesn't need a lot of assistance, that would be very nice. But for someone who needs any type of assistance, you have to supply or hire your own caregiver to come in and take care of things, like administering medications, so that's not a good fit for us. It's a beautiful facility. I only met with someone who gave me a tour of the facility.

Birch Heights had very pleasant people. They all seemed very happy to be in the community. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. They had lots of activities for the residents. They had a decent sized library, a game room, and a dining room. Everyone was eating lunch when we got there, and there was a lot of happy chatter. It sounded like friends having a tea party. Jennifer was wonderful. She didn't skimp on spending time with us. We said that we're just beginning our search, and we don't even know how to get our mother in law to go from selling her home to moving into a community. She just shared all of her expertise with us, and she was very helpful.

I really like Birch Heights. The person who gave me the tour was great and I had a good experience. The place was great. The dining area seemed really nice. The apartment was very nice, roomy, and clean. They have a pretty active and social community.

My parents are in Birch Heights. So far, it's been an excellent experience. The staff has been wonderful. The residents are very welcoming. The food has been very good so far. Everything in the apartment is new, like new paint, and new carpets. It's spacious enough and very clean. The dining area is restaurant style. They serve you. There are all kinds of activities. There's a salon, a library, a chapel, an exercise room, pool tables, a card room, and game room. They also have shuttle services available for shopping and doctors' appointments, and things like that.

The staff at Birch Heights was so good to my ailing mother in law. I cannot speak highly enough of the management staff, their care, concern and compassion. Our family is grateful for the time they spent with her and the care they showed her.

Birch Heights is good, attentive, and they feed my father-in-law well. He moved in at the beginning of March. I have a very good impression of the place. Every day there are several things for him to do whether he wants to participate or not. They serve three meals and are always have snacks and fruit available. They'll take him to stores and to the doctors.

I loved the dining room atmosphere and the hostess was exceptionally friendly and informative. We had the opportunity to chose from 2 rooms that were larger than my aunts current facility and at half the price. Birch Heights is independent living and I was looking for a more vibrant community than the assisted living facility that my aunt was currently staying at; however, the residents there at the time of our visit were in similar or worse shape than her current neighbors. For the price, the free cable and dining for visitors, I would have jumped at the opportunity. What stopped me cold was that there was only one community bathroom on each of the floors and both were unsightly (I held it & we went to a gas station to pee) I do believe that half of the residents there need more care and guidance, but are there because it is affordable, My aunt only needs a facility because she doesn't drive and her husband and 2 daughters had passed away from cancer. She is somewhat forgetful and cannot live alone. If the bathrooms were clean, I would have given it a 5 star, but they had been used by residents that actually needed assistance to go to the bathroom; which is not available. It is possible that the type of neighbors I was looking to see were out and about; fit to drive and do their own thing and the ones present were incapable of the same, which left me with this impression.

Birch Heights was a nice and fairly new building. The apartments were nice, too. The people seemed to be nice, and there seemed to be a lot for the residents to do. Birch Heights was clean and organized, but my mother-in-law is not ready to go. They had nice, different-sized rooms that are all carpeted and fairly new with cable TV set up and kitchenettes, too. You can have one or two bedrooms and decent-sized living rooms.

Birch Heights facilities are outstanding. It has a lot to offer for the money they want. It is well worth your rent. It is a very good situation. I have a nice 2-room with a small kitchenette and a lot of closets which I need. It is a very nice operation, but I have not moved there yet. The food is outstanding and healthy. I like the location. It is the nearest I can find in the area that I can afford.

We saw Birch Heights. It seemed clean, they offered lots of activities, and everybody was friendly. They had nice transportation offered, and it was near a medical facility. The food was fine; it tasted like normal food at a restaurant.

Birch Heights was good, they looked more than enough, and my first impressions were favorable. The staff seemed to be caring. The dining room seemed clean enough and pretty nice. I liked the dining room atmosphere it was more like a restaurant.

I helped my dad move into Birch Heights. It's a very nice place with nice and professional people, and my dad loves it. The room is a small studio, but it works for him. It’s what he can afford. They have card rooms, a pool table, and other activities like that and events happening all of the time. It’s pretty busy. I ate some really good food in the dining room.

We love Birch Heights. We have only been there for about eight weeks, they feel like it’s their new home, they are settled, and they couldn’t be better. I like the exterior appearance; it was set off the road in a quiet neighborhood When I went inside, the staff greeted me right away, and the thing that actually sold it for me was that they didn’t try and talk to me about it. They just tried and sit and eat with a couple of the residents. The residents were so happy that I know that my parents would be too. The residents told me about their experience and how much they loved it there. The food was delicious. My mom is a lifelong cook, and she loves the food. They do have a very full calendar, and my parents will be enjoying it. They feel all the pressures of their own home taking off of them, and you can see that they are doing better a week from eating a better diet, and they have pink cheeks from being out of the sun and walking around. I think they could help more my folks get more involved in the activities than they are.

My mother is in independent living, and she is doing very well. She is at a place called Birch Heights owned by Holiday. I think the facility is great. I even think the food is good. Everybody there has been very nice. I was there through the holidays, and I went to their Christmas party. They were very nice and very accommodating. There were going to put their roll away beds so that I can stay there a couple of nights while I'm there. I like the people, and I think the facility is fine. She is staying in a one bedroom but a larger one-bedroom. It is an end unit, so it has a larger porch that she can sit on. It also has extra windows because it is on the end, so it is really nice. I like it there. They don't have any stove. She eats three meals a day which initially she wasn't doing. She was only eating breakfast and lunch. But now she goes down every night for dinner. They say it's like a 30, 60, 90 day thing, and they were right. After 30 days, she was comfortable because there were a couple of people that she knew there. It's in a small town. She got more comfortable as time went by. I don't think she hasn't taken the bus yet because she has lots of friends and family there. She has an aide that comes in one morning a week to make sure my mom showers and does some of the laundry. I think it is really nice. There is one thing that I do not care for is that they only have one central elevator. I know it is expensive, but I think it is very poor planning. They should have two elevators.

Birch Heights was beautiful. There was a very calming effect when you walk in, there was a lot of stuff to do there, and it was very clean, the apartments were very nice; it was just very nice. The staff was excellent. We were there after lunch and before dinner, so we didn't get to see anything in the dining room. There were women playing dominoes in one of the game room and like I said it was very peaceful in there.

My father-in-law had been at Birch Heights for a couple of months. I am very pleased with every aspect of it: the cleanliness, the people, the friendliness, the activities that they do, and the food, and I am very pleased that he is too. I've eaten there several times myself. They have a very well-balanced menu. He is in a studio apartment. The space was ample. The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. They have a bus where they will take them to church. They have different activities outside of the building. They visit restaurants and they take them shopping. They have the activities within the structure itself such as exercise classes and wellness programs. The facility is only about five years old, so it's in very good shape. I would most definitely recommend this facility.

Birch Height was very nice and the person who took us along the tour was just very thoughtful, and she had anticipated all the questions that we would have had. Like I said, my uncle fell in love with the place. Actually, I did email the lady who I had talked to and told her that he had moved in there, asking for her assistance because she was also very helpful and she continues to send little tidbits of information. They showed us a variety of different rooms, some of them were furnished and some were not, just to give him a look and the opportunity to see the size of the rooms. The dining room was just extravagant -- we actually even met the chef and they opened the door of the kitchen to let us see the kitchen facility. It was very nice. They had tables for four and the chairs actually had rollers on them -- so if somebody has difficulty moving on chairs, they can roll and I thought that was kind of neat. At this point my uncle is still independent, although we did have to get him some assistance because he had a wound on his leg. He has been going to the wound center and he is not able to change his bandages, although they have a company called Integrated Health Services -- when we needed help for him, we were able to just call Integrated. Then, they called Wound Center and got the authorization to help him out, which I found very convenient. You can walk around outside if the weather is good and you can also walk the hallways, and they have a room where you can play cards, and a room with a large screen TV where they offer movie nights. They just seemed to have more activities. In his case, he wasn’t cooking a lot, so he was going out to restaurants all the time and he has three meals a day. He is really enjoying it and claims that the soup was fantastic. He is extremely happy. It’s more like a community because people walk the hallways, elevator and to him, that seems to be what he wanted. They seemed to have an abundance of activities going on, and they have a table that tells you what’s on the menu for the day, and also tells you the different activities. They have exercise activities. I actually stopped by to see him about a week ago on a Sunday, and they had about 20 residents in a room, and they had somebody singing and playing the guitar. They have had politicians going there and if anybody wants, to go listen to the politician. They seemed to have activities that people want to join in. I called him last Friday to see how he was doing and I got a callback on a Saturday morning and he said, he was in the game room until midday and apparently, some gentleman asked him if they could play, and he ended up playing, so he is making new friends and they do have things to do. If you are religious, they have a little chapel, so if you want time to spend alone and reflect, they have people that will come in for services. For instance, they will take them to some of the local churches. I noticed that they did have time to go church on Saturday afternoon or Sunday at some of the local churches. They seemed to be a very good facility and he seems extremely happy. He is the type of person who, if he is not happy, he will definitely let you know.

I'm at Birch Heights. My daughter found this place for me. I have been here for four years. The staff's work attitude seems fine. The rooms and apartments are very nice. There is a choice of apartments, i.e., one-bedroom apartment with living room, bedroom, and bath. They have some two-bedroom apartments, and they have studio apartments. Food is acceptable; however, they could improve on the dining experience. Regarding security, this place is very safe.

We liked the good sized rooms at Birch Heights, as well as the monthly payment. The room has a refrigerator, and we can also have a microwave. But there is no stove, and that is one thing that bothers me. I will have a wheelchair there, and a bus will take me where I need to go. We were there for dinner and we really enjoyed it. The meals are served in a cafeteria. In addition, it’s wide open, clean, and everybody is really kind.

Birch Heights is a really nice place and I noticed that they were having activities when we went there. They were lot of people around and that was great. It was a bit expensive as far as I was concerned.

My mom was in an independent living facility called Birch Heights. It was lovely. This community was wonderful. There were two people who run the facility and they were absolutely wonderful. Everything was positive. It was simply that my mom got to a point where she needed more than independent living, otherwise she would still be at Birch Heights because it was really a terrific place. My first impression of it was that it was very attractive, clean and neat. The people there were happy. The caretaker who toured us around was so nice, so helpful, warm and caring. The staff was very attentive. My mom was in a studio apartment, but it was just typical. However, it was certainly spacious enough for her. They also had one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms. The food was very good. The wait staff was young people. They were friendly, fun, attentive and good. For activities, they really had the same things as every other place, e.g. games, card games, groups coming in, movies, and all that sort of thing. They also had a van that would take them to places. The only thing I didn't like, and it is significant, is their parent company. When we tried to get her deposit back, which was guaranteed that we would get it back in 30 days, it took them almost three months to give us our money back. There were a lot of hassling and I actually had to resort to threatening to inform the attorney general of New Hampshire if they didn't refund us. So the parent company was bad but the Birch Heights itself was wonderful.

Generally the staff are very good to us when we had our visit at Birch Heights. What I like about them is that they have a lot of things going on for the residents. Their rooms are small, but adequate. I didn’t eat there, but their food looked good. Their rates are not cheap, but very competitive. I also like that they have a short term option and that looked very good.

Birch Heights was very clean, neat and had no smell to it. The rooms were very nice as well as the dining room. The staff who gave us the tour was very good and she gave my husband some muffins. They had a bar where the residents came and had muffins or snacks anytime they wanted to. The people seemed friendly there. I would recommend this facility to others.

Birch Heights was a very nice facility and I had a good impression. It was well kept. You could use your car too. The people and the residents were very nice. They have different programs going on.

The staff were generally friendly. A number of the residents often complained about the co-live in managers who often ignored the complaints of residents. Their complaints were often related to the dining room. Though the menu changed from day to day, it was still very restricting, and the majority of the dining staff were overly rude and unwilling to make accommodations for the residents. As far as maintenance of the rooms goes, it often took far too long for things to get fixed. Most of the residents weren't able to change lightbulbs, and would sometimes have to wait as long as a week for maintenance to help them. At least the actual facilities were nice. There was a large garden outside, and transportation around town was provided. There were lots of events planned for the residences, and apart from the lack of response from staff, the residents seemed generally happy to be living there.

I visited this facility with my husband, brother and mother. We were given a brief tour of the facility. The tour consisted of two model rooms, the dining area and the excercise/activity room. We were also given tasty cookies. I was very impressed. This facility serves 3 meals a day to its residents and also has drinks and healthy snacks available during the day and evening. If you are looking for a 5 star assisted living area....this is the place.
