Cedar Crest is quite a large place. They have their own restaurants and their own bars. I was interested in it, but it's very busy. There are a lot of things going on. We did memory care for my wife and senior living for me because I'd be moving in, too. I would be in my own apartment and my wife would be in memory care full service. I was impressed with it. It's clean. It's got a lot of amenities for seniors that are not in the memory section. As for me, there are a lot of activities. They have a pool. The staff was very knowledgeable and had been there for a long time. She just retired. She's been there for 30 years. The rooms were very nice and clean. They had a free lunch and it was good food. There were like five restaurants, so we just ate in one of the bistro restaurants. If you want one meal a day, it could be lunch or dinner, and usually, people do a large meal at dinner. You would do your own breakfast and lunch or you could buy it there, but the one meal a day was free. It's included in your services. Your options are available for whatever you want to do. You can walk from one end to the other to the different restaurants. Everything's accessible.

My mother has been a resident at Cedar Crest. It's nice because it's big and they have everything, except I was expecting something with a little more personal care. I have no problem with the staff, it's just that they don't seem to have enough. They need some more people. Her room is fine. Everything is functional and clean. They just renovated the whole place, so it's very nice. They have a lot to offer my mother as far as daily activities and things to keep her busy, which is very nice.

My mother got accepted at Cedar Crest, so she's gonna be going there. It has independent, then in the same campus it has assisted living, and then it has full care. In other words, she can stay in the same facility. Everybody was friendly and welcoming, and the place was clean. They couldn't be more helpful. The food was excellent, and they have a lot of variety. They have several different kinds of restaurants, from a formal type restaurant to a bistro. It's a little bit expensive, but for what you are getting, it is definitely well worth it. The one she's gonna take is a one-bedroom. It's small, but it has a washer and dryer, which is wonderful. They were telling us everything from what to do with the trash takeout to how she gets her mail. They have mahjong, they go out, and I saw a lot of things going on, and a lot of people around doing things. They have shows there. They have a gym, a pool, and a hair salon.

Beware of the ENTRANCE FEE! My mother was a resident of Cedar Crest, and like all residents, she provided an up-front entrance fee of around $300K in order to secure an apartment. She was told that the majority of the fee would be refunded to her family upon her passing. What she WASN'T told is that the refund takes over a year for them to process. Oh yes, there is vague mention in her 50 page contract that refunds are processed based on a waiting list methodology, but they don't talk about that during the sales pitch. In addition, you should know that Cedar Crest invests more money into their landscaping and facilities upkeep than they invest in the care workers. Our experience is that the assisted and long-term care areas are woefully understaffed, but the hallways are constantly being repainted, carpeting is updated, and lawns are meticulously maintained. So what is YOUR priority? Ensuring that your loved one is well cared for? Or seeing a beautiful view when you drive around the campus?

We went to see Cedar Crest, and it was very nice and beautiful. We would totally feel comfortable with my parents-in-law there. The problem is, I don't think they have the proper income to go there. We visited the assisted living part, and the rooms were very clean and very tastefully done. The people were excellent, and the community was very, very nice. There was a lot of camaraderie with all the activities that they have for everybody. It was like a city within a city. It was very, very nice and excellent. They took us through and showed us everything. There's a theater, a game room, a ballroom, an actual bar, and a community area for playing games and chess.

Cedar Crest is large. It has many buildings that are all interconnected. It was very nice. They have transportation around. They seemed to have a lot of activities. They do have a lot of a lot of things, like doctors and that kind of stuff right there. The staff was excellent. They're very friendly. The facility has good security. It's quite big, but it seems very nice.
