The Conservatory at Champion Forest was wonderful and it was only five minutes away from our house, so it was the best place for my grandparents. We met with Marcia. She was very nice and she helped us out each time and called us and checked on us. She even tried to contact a realtor to see about selling their home in Conroe. She was very helpful, very kind, very warmhearted, and very personable. It's an excellent facility. We loved everything about it. My grandmother wants to live there. It's just my grandpa is not ready to cut ties with his house yet. We didn't try the food, but the staff offered it each time I visited. We just didn't have the time allotted for that, but it looked good. They have it sitting out like a display right at the door of the dining room. They have two plates sitting out of their choices for the day. They also have other dishes and things like that. They looked appetizing and smelled good. The facility was beautiful.

The Conservatory at Champion Forest was a nice place. The paintings and the decor inside were very traditional, which I liked. They were also updating the outside of the building when we were there. I particularly liked the dining experience, it was very professional. The menu was set up in such a way that you thought you were dining in a 5-star restaurant. You could go down and order and take it back to your room if you'd like to do that. The layout of the one apartment that we were looking at was ideal because you had a private entrance from the parking lot through your sliding door without having to go through the main lobby. The staff who gave me the tour was very professional and she knew what she was doing. She was organized. There was no interference. She introduced me to the different people that worked there and to some of the residents there, as well. They had an excellent program as far as people getting involved in different activities. They had a putting green for those who like to play golf. They had a happy hour every Thursday night where they served wine and a couple of different refreshments. They had a theater and the gym was well equipped. They took their residents on tours twice a week. It was a top-notch facility. You had to furnish your own Internet, but they would provide cable TV with 150 channels. They were probably on the upper end of the price range, but their amenities were worth the extra.

My mother will be moving into The Conservatory at Champion Forest. It's lovely. It's very tastefully decorated. The rooms were very nice. Everything we saw there was top-of-the-line and first- class. The staff during the tour were Marsha and CeCe, and they were outstanding. They were like ten plus. They were just absolutely wonderful. They have a pool, a physical trainer on staff, a hair salon, a nail salon, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social events, a room full of games and card games, and a movie theater. They have everything. It's amazing. The food was great. We had several complimentary meals, and they were just delicious. The service was fantastic, and people came over and welcomed us. It's a very lovely place to be. The staff was great. I was so impressed. They were just across the board, top of the line. This is where mom wanted to go. She had a lot of friends from church there, so she already knew people there.

I like the staff, the place, and everything about The Conservatory at Champion Forest. My only problem with it is that they're not continuing care, but they're still on my list. I like their amenities and rooms. They showed me everything, like the dining area. They explained all the ways that you could get food. You can put your order in, come pick it up, and take it to your room, or you can dine in. I love the Conservatory at Champion Forest.

The person that took me on the tour at The Conservatory at Champion Forest was absolutely excellent and very helpful. It was an expensive place. They serve three meals a day and you can eat their breakfast and one other meal included in your monthly fee. They have a swimming pool, too. One thing I liked about it was that they had someone that was there all night and so if you have any kind of a medical problem or anything, you call and they answer the phone. They help you with whatever your need is or they get you an ambulance or whatever. I liked that. I just didn't like that the only apartments that had been redone were on the first floor where it had flooded.

I'm very interested in The Conservatory at Champion Forest. I had toured it, but my son has not seen it, so he wanted to see it. I've always liked my son to give the final word. I like the different layouts of the apartments. I'm looking at a 700-square-foot apartment. I even talked to some of the residents, and they were saying they have been there for four or five years, and they're very happy there. They have a big dining room. I looked at the calendar of activities, and it looked like they were full of activities. They even told me they provide bus service and car service if you have to go to the doctors or something like that, although at this point, I plan to keep my car. They have a secure system. They give you a pendant to wear like Life Alert. Everybody I saw was very friendly. They gave me and my friend a bowl of soup to take with us, and it was excellent. I saw the menu that they have every day and that seemed wonderful. The one thing that I was very impressed with was the fact that they have a washer and dryer in each room. Most of the other senior living spaces have them on the floor, maybe they have two washers and two dryers on each floor, that's great, but it is much nicer if it's right in your room. I was very impressed with the rooms they showed. Each had a balcony and it looked like they had plenty of room for the furniture that you need.

I've been to The Conservatory at Champion Forest several times. It's an independent living, it's a beautiful facility and it appears to be well-run. I have the opportunity to interact with Janine who gave me the tour. She told me all about the community, showed me several different apartments and the price range that we were looking for, in the budget that we had. She was very honest about it and answered all of my questions. I sensed a not-just-a-sales pitch from her, but a genuineness and caring about our particular situation. I went on my own first and then I took my mother back when my mother came to visit me and she had the same consistent care, a genuine concern for my mom and her situation. She's very authentic. We also had the opportunity to interact with the executive director, Daryll, and he was very warm, genuine, great to work with, and talked with the brief time that we had. So, the experience was just positive overall. I felt like they worked hard to find what would work well for my mom. The incentives that they were offering during this period time are what drew us in, in the end. We were already interested but those just really kind of sealed it for us when we saw that they had great incentives for us to move in. One of the things that my mom and I appreciated about the tour was we had lunch with two ladies who live there as residents. Janine, the staff, pulled away during lunch and my mom and I had time just with these ladies to really ask them questions about what it was like to live there and a lot of great information. They were able to be honest with us about what it's like and we really appreciated that opportunity just to get up close and personal with some residents who live there. During the meal, we were able to choose something to eat off their menu. I think the opportunities for engagement and involvement for my mom seem promising and what they have to offer. We had a chance to interact with a number of residents that live there, just from walking around the building and people were very friendly and interactive, they seemed to be enjoying living there. That was just our observation. It appears to be, just from the visits we've had there, a very positive place.

The Conservatory at Champion Forest was newly remodeled, at least on the first floor. The apartments were bigger and they might have the same square feet as the other places, but they were built out better, the floor plans were better, newer, and they were completely remodelled. I liked the atmosphere. The people were very friendly. The menu looked good and the amenities were very nice.

The tour we had at the Conservatory at Champion Forest was excellent. Janine was over the top as far as making us feel comfortable, and was interested in getting our needs met. I had not had a tour like that. She was so conscientious, and really let you know that whatever you needed, no matter what it was, you could call her, and I enjoyed that very much. I liked the piano in the lobby and the elegance of the place. I liked elegance, and that is what convinced me to move in there. I wanted it to feel like home, and it did. Even though they were reconstructing the floors, it was neatly done. I didn't feel like if I went there to live, I would be distracted with the upgrading that they were doing.

People who just visit may be "taken in" by the elegant lobby areas and nicely landscaped grounds. The facilities are indisputably nice, but the customer service is lacking to say the least. Food qualify goes up and down, mostly down, attitude from some of the staff, especially in regards to the transportation they are supposed to provide. They also tell you "no tipping" then squeeze the seniors at the end of the year for $780 - $1080 "bonus" for the staff, (they give them a suggested amount in that range, across their 190 units, meaning they could rake in an additional $200,000 out of the residents). They also do not have any back up generators, so if you have someone on oxygen, or heaven forbid a hurricane comes along and knocks out power, then they will be left in dangerous heat with no electric. Very dangerous if your loved ones are on oxygen! Also hope the downstairs doesn't flood like it did in Harvey, because yes, that happened.

I visited The Conservatory at Champion Forest and it's beautiful. The apartments were very nice, and they were having a crowd activity the day I was there. I had a meal there and it was good. They have a swimming pool, convenient parking spaces, transportation to the doctor, and things of that nature. They also have chapel. It was very nice and the person who accommodated me was very nice.

The Conservatory at Champion Forest had a nice standard of living. The staff was friendly. It was under construction when we visited, but the location was very nice and beautiful. The apartments were top notch, and they had the most extensive list of amenities compared to any other place in the area.

If I was ready to go in one, and even if I am not ready, I loved this one. I mean, if I am of the age where I like somebody to cook for me and everything, and everything was beautiful. The only thing was they didn't really do VA because it wasn't assisted living; it was more for someone that still was a little independent. The rooms were really nice and spacious. There were several different sizes; one was one big room with a big closet and a small kitchen, and then one was a double room. And they had the monitors on the door, so if they fell or whatever, they would immediately be notified. I loved it; it would be like living in a swank hotel. They were extremely helpful, and they would have done anything to get us in there. The only thing was they would not let my brother-in-law have his girlfriend spend the night. I would give them a five as far as independent living. They are really more for someone that still could live on their own sort of, but doesn't want to cook, clean, do their laundry, or anything like that. They had a swimming pool, I believe, at the Conservatory; they had everything. They had a theater room with a really nice theater. It is somewhere I would want to live. They had an exercise room with machines, and it wasn't just little balls or anything, but they had the full-fledged things, and they had a time set up where a trainer would come in; it was nice. They had activities set up everyday for them if they wanted to go somewhere or whatever.

I found The Conservatory (The Conservatory at Champion Forest) very clean and very warm. Everybody was very personable. They have a lot of activities for the seniors, so I think it's awesome. The staff was very warm and very personable. The rooms were very nice. They're very well structured. The food was pretty good. They have three full meals. They have activities for the residents. They would have people come in to do different services. Regarding security, I would say it is a safe place. There is one main entrance, and they have emergency exits. It is impossible for the residents to leave without being noticed. They have a structured system where they have to check in and check out. They have like Valentines and Mother's Day. At Christmas, they have vendors come in so that the residents can do a little shopping. They have different things that would make them feel that they're still a human being with a purpose.

The Conservatory use to be a great place to live. It is expensive and at one time it was worth. However, since a management change the quality has drastically dropped. Included in your monthly rent is a dining fee that covers your meals at the on-site restaurant. This is not an optional fee. The food is inedible most of the time. And to make matters worse the service is just as bad. There have been numerous occasions where I left hungry after over an hour because the wait staff never came to take our order. They also lose the orders or get them mixed up frequently. If you do get your food it is normally very bad. The new management is aware of this after numerous complaints from the residents, but do not choose to address the issue.

Provider Response

I am sorry you have some negative feelings about our community. I wanted to take a moment to address some of your concerns, and would very much welcome the opportunity to meet you and listen so I might better understand them. Regarding our monthly cost, we are very competitively priced for all the services we offer. We also offer something in addition that none of competitors offer, a three year rent lock for all of our residents. This is included in our rent. Meals are also included in our monthly rent, as is weekly housekeeping, transportation, entertainment, etc. Our community, like most of our competitors is an all-inclusive community. Meaning, all of our services are included in a single monthly fee. Those who choose our community do so in order to take advantage of this. I am sorry if you were disappointed at our dining service. We have high expectations for both the quality of our food and the service we provide. But we admit that at times mistakes can be made. All we ask is that we are made aware when our effort falls short of expectations, so we can promptly address the issue to satisfaction. In addition, we use tools to help us remain accountable to our residents. These tools include ongoing residents satisfaction surveys and a monthly Dining Forum where residents can voice their opinion and make request. We have found this to be a tremendous resource for our residents to let us know how we are doing. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you if you choose. We are committed to making all efforts to satisfy our residents.

My dad has been at The Conservatory at Champion Forest for a year and half, and it was good. They do have housekeepers that come once a week and they had activities. It was really nice and everybody was nice and would go out of their way. When dad had his urinary tract infection and they missed him in the dining room, they called up to see how he was feeling and they brought him up dinner and that was a voluntary thing.

The Conservatory at Champion Forest was a much newer facility. We had a very delightful visit there. We actually ate Sunday brunch there. They have an ongoing Sunday buffet where a lot of families come and visit. We met a lot of very pleasant people who live there. They were all very friendly. The facility did have very, very lovely appointments, and it was like being in an art gallery. The lady who owns it appreciates European art, so when you're walking up and down the hall, they have a lot of beautiful framed reproductions of artwork. It was very lovely for somebody who wants a more upscale kind of appeal. A lot of seniors would really like that. It was very nice and very lovely. It was sort of classy with a more European feel almost to it. However, it was just not my mother-in-law's preference. She thought it was too fancy for her. She said she felt like it was a museum. It just wouldn't be a home to her.

My parents are going to be moving in Conservatory at Champion Forest next week. This facility is right down the street from where I live. It was just a very nice place. It reminded me of a cruise ship actually. The people there were pretty nice. My parents are offered a two-bedroom-two-bath apartment. For amenities, they have a shuttle service and they have outings for their residents. They have a buffet-type snack bar thing. They have a bar where they would have a happy hour. They have all kinds of stuff. They also have a regular restaurant with varied menu everyday. They have standard menu and varied menu. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is pretty much open most of the day.
