The Villages has everything my body needs, and my friend who lives there loves it. I've had lunch there, and the food is great. The area is kind of close to the college, so it's a little bit busy. But it's nicely landscaped and they have a swimming pool, which is nice. It's beautifully maintained and it's in an area where you could go for a walk. The staff is very hard working. But mostly, I've seen the people that maintain the place, and they're always working, so the place is impeccable. They have a lot of activities. They have a movie every day. My friend likes to play bingo. They have transportation, and you can go into the city for a concert and a play. The transportation is only on the weekdays. My friend's room is sufficient. She has a 2-bedroom apartment, and it's probably too much room for her, but it's nice and she has an outside patio. She lives right across from the swimming pool, so she's got a great spot.

I toured The Villages. I liked the gardens, the amenities, and all of the activities. The apartments were older and didn't have full kitchens. Everyone we met there was very nice. They had many activities and trips out of the facility. They had a swimming pool, a hot tub, and they had a wine tasting. They had 2 dining areas. One was the formal dining area, and the other one was more like a cafe.

I was able to tour The Villages San Luis Obispo, CA for independent living. It also has assisted living and memory care. Of all the places we visited, this was our favorite, it was beautiful. It didn't feel like you're in an assisted living place when you walk in, it's open and airy. It has two swimming pools, and the downstairs apartments have little patios with their own little picket fences that have an entrance. So it's just adorable and it's very charming. The person who gave us the tour was very personable, very informative, very happy to be there, and enjoys her job. She was wonderful. The apartment was very roomy and nice, they're older but they're doing updates and they're very accommodating. We had lunch there and it was excellent. The people that live there have a community garden, there were lots of areas to walk around. It's very close to businesses, you can walk outside and turn right and go to a store or whatever you would need. People were swimming in their two pools, it was great.

My parents have moved into The Villages. They're at The Oaks part, and the food is excellent. The gardens are beautiful. The staff is very good and nice. They have a good variety of activities. Unfortunately, my parents don't want to participate in them. The rooms are spacious, and they keep them clean. They have a small gym room. They've got a heated pool, and they have an outdoor jacuzzi, although it's not terribly warm. It could be warmer, but they probably keep it down on temperature due to the elderly there. There's a good variety in their food. They have a good choice of alternative items from the specials of the day. They have a great salad bar. I think it's expensive, but that's California, too. They have transportation. They're in the independent living. You furnish your room yourself.

I had an in-person tour of The Villages. They have tons of two bedrooms with tons of closet space because it used to be used for student housing, so they're bigger. They have two pools, a movie theater, two different menus, and two different dining areas. They were just like twice the size of the other recommended facilities. They have more activities, and my dad's super social. They have like three buildings, so they have an assisted living if they have to move to that one. It was just really beautiful landscaping. And then they have more amenities, like to drive you to doctor's appointments, and things like that. The staff did a really good job. She was fantastic. She has been doing it for 10 years. The other two people were brand new. They were nice and everything, but they were brand new to their jobs, like a month and two weeks. The units we had to look at were just vacated, so they had yet quite clean them, take them, and stuff like that. The facility itself was older, so it's not kind of as nice as the other facilities, but just bigger for practicality. The Villages was a walking distance to a shopping center; it was right behind it, so it was pretty convenient that way.

The Village at The Palms was beautiful, it was very nice. The staff was nice. It has 3 different buildings, and it was like being in a resort. The staff who gave the tour was excellent. The dining area looked like you're in a nice restaurant. At the time we were there, they were not serving, but they showed us the menus. I talked to a couple of residents, and they said that the food is perfect and they love it. The menus were very impressive. The rooms were beautiful; everything was kept up, I didn't see anything in the hall that anyone could trip on. The surroundings are beautiful, the garden areas are very well-kept, and they have a large pool. They had a creek running through between 2 of the buildings. Everything was very, very nice. It seemed like it had everything like transportation. It has a very nice atmosphere. They had a movie theater set up that was just beautiful, and it looks like the residents were very happy. The rooms were very well lit, very cheerful, and it was just very, very nice. We were so impressed.

They are very friendly at The Villages of San Luis Obispo. The one that gave the tour and the information was excellent, not pushy, very caring, and very good at follow-up with my mom, emailing her, calling her, and giving her more information. She is in an apartment, which is on the larger side. She is quite independent and that appealed to her. The dining rooms are beautifully decorated, warm, and lots of natural light coming in and there are two for the independent living, which are decorated differently. They have apartment buildings that are just for independent living and another area that's just for assisted living.

The Villages was absolutely beautiful. It had a beautiful garden. The rooms had real size fridges. They were very new and up-to-date. I tried the food there, and it was very well prepared. However, it was a little more expensive. They don't offer three meals a day. It was also spread out, and I was a little worried because my mom had a little bit of dementia and the courtyards all look kind of similar.
