I was a resident of Campus Commons Senior Living. It was okay, I had to cook my own food and they did give me a discount there. They had bingo, and they had a hairdresser. It was just a block away from CVS and Raley's, and that was nice. I could just go into the store. It's independent and if you need help, you have to hire your person. I use a scooter to go shopping, and they take you shopping also and to the doctor's, that's the same with everyone.

I visited Campus Commons Senior Community with my mother, she likes it a lot. The place was very nice, the dining area was nice, the recreational activities and plans were nice. The people were very, very friendly, both residents and staff. And she liked the layout for the various apartment with the accessible bath bathtub, and accessible showers was a big deal. The facility was bright with flowers. We looked around the dining area and heard about the menu, but didn't sample the menu. There was a dog run area to be off the leash in a big fenced yard area. So that was nice, it was refreshingly very pet-friendly.

Campus Commons Senior Living is a really lovely setting. It's clean and inviting, from the way that the lobby is decorated and the rooms that I saw. The atmosphere was very friendly. The staff person that assisted me gave a lot of information and answered my questions. I had a concern about diversity, and we talked about that. I had not seen a full representation of the members, and I've been assured that it is a diverse community. I like the fact that they're involved with Sac State. I have other activities that are part of a senior group called Renaissance Society, so I had visited the Campus Commons to attend some activities that were done along with Sac State. It was one of the things that make it seem like a place that is very stimulating. They have activities that, I think, are good for seniors. I had lunch there (they call it brunch), and it was very satisfactory. Nothing spectacular, just egg sandwiches and a salad. I saw the menu of the day too, and I was impressed with it. It's independent living, and it's excellent. I saw an empty room, so there's not a whole lot to judge by. I like the setup and the kitchen. There are a lot of trees and sunlight coming into the three different units I saw. They're very clean and very nicely set up.

Campus Commons was very comfortable. The people were extremely friendly and would just gather themselves together, not necessarily in planned activities, like ladies getting together after lunch playing a game in an alcove on the floor. It was nice. It was on the older side because it was built in 1976, but it was a warm place with beautiful grounds. I thought it was a great location. They had exercise, outdoor and indoor activities, and a gardening club. The food was OK, but the selection wasn't great.

I think Campus Commons is a beautiful place. My mother was temporarily in a different facility, but fortunately, a place at Campus Commons opened, so we switched her since the differences between the two places are day and night. I’m so pleased with Campus Commons. The rooms and apartments are very comfortable and roomy and include a full refrigerator and a small burner oven and stove. There's not quite enough counter space, but it’s large enough for other pieces of furniture. The seats are not assigned for meals. There's continental breakfas, plus a wonderful menu to choose from. On the very first day she was there, another couple came and sat down with her. It’s a bright place. They’re very close to Sacramento State University, so one of the things that they are doing is hooking up with professors there who will teach classes at the facility and students who will come over to take these classes.

We found a place for my dad. It's called Campus Commons. It is very nice. They have lots of activities. My dad is in an apartment where he could live independently, but they do have a continuum of care should he require more care in the future. His apartment is nice. It has a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a small kitchen -- your basic apartment. The place itself is in an off the beaten path in a wooded area, so it is safe if you go for a walk or something if you want to do that. When I was there, the staff was fabulous. They were very friendly and welcoming. I know my dad hit it off with one of the secretaries there. They're both from Kansas, so they enjoy chatting. All the staff that we came in contact with was very friendly.
