I visited this facility

We got a tour of Holiday Lodge at Cold Spring. The staff did a wonderful job, but it's not my type of place. It seemed like it was a place for rich people. They didn't have a stove in the kitchen, and I couldn't understand that at all. The facility was very decent and very clean. The amenities that they had there were the same as the other place. You could use the bus, you could get your hair done, you could go to recreation, and you could have PT. The marketing person who gave us the tour was very good and gave a lot of information. She gave me a folder with a menu in it, and the menu looked pretty good. The dining area was very nice. I met the recreation director and the maintenance guy, and they were all very nice.

The rooms at Holiday Lodge at Cold Spring did not have a kitchen. There was no stove to cook at and that kind of turned us off because we wanted to have a one-bedroom where we could cook if we wanted to. They only had one meal. When we went in, they were having a fish dinner, and if you didn't like it, they were not going to substitute it with something else and we didn't like that because of my dietary needs. And Not having a stove to cook at, what do you do? Also, I swear it smelled like urine when we were in the elevators. The staff was OK. She was new and she misquoted us on our numbers on how much the rent was going to be. She didn't tell us the actual price. We didn't learn this until we got home and looked at the brochure. I didn't see many amenities. There was a puzzle room where they did puzzles and books on shelves in the corridor you call that a library.

I liked that Holiday Lodge at Cold Spring had a very comfortable feel. The woman who gave me a tour was very welcoming, very kind, and nice, not formal or anything. She showed me a few different options, which was great, and we went over the whole building to see the different things that were there that I could do or use. Like there was an extra kitchen with an oven and stove because there isn't a stove and oven in the apartment. The dining room was nice. It was very big and open. It's like a dining experience where there's a type of waiter that comes to you and a buffet or something, and wouldn't like a buffet. I saw a couple of menus and that was concerning to me because there's a minimum amount of choices for me, because I don't eat meat. So for me, it's a little harder. The studio was way too small. I'm claustrophobic, so I would never be able to do that. There were different-sized studios. The one that she showed me was a Z type that I didn't like at all because you walk into the bedroom and then you go to the bedroom to get into a small living room that has the kitchen in it. So, it's a big room, and I just couldn't do that except that it's split up a little with the Z formation. Then we went to the one-bedroom and it was small (I'm used to bigger rooms. I have a dining room and living room) and this doesn't have enough room for my dining room set. So, I'm going to have to see if I can fit things in. It's a lot to consider going lower and smaller than what I have, but I liked that one-bedroom. The bedroom was a really good size. The living room was OK. It was open, but the kitchen and dining area was very small. The patio outside was very small. You could fit a chair, maybe two chairs, but nothing else. There's a paved walking path that goes around the building, like a walking trail that they use. That was right by the patio that I looked at for the one-bedroom which would be good. It's easy for me to go there. Overall, I thought it was very nice and comfortable. Jessie toured me and she was excellent, very nice, and very kind. She answered all my questions. We kept talking and we kept discovering things. The facility was very clean. I know if they have somebody that comes in and cleans once a week for your apartment. So, that's nice. I saw somebody coming out of an elevator with something and he was cleaning an area. They said that they're going through a renovation right now. So, there were people fixing the roof, putting new tiles on the roof. She said they're going to be repainting and putting in new fixtures. It already looks nice, but I guess it's going to look fresher with the new stuff. I would have liked more outside the area. It's very narrow around the back, which is where the apartment was that she showed me. It's a narrow strip of grass and a small area of trees that you could see through and you see traffic. So, I would have liked to be a little further away from traffic in the back and the same thing in the front. They need more grass for people to walk around the outside. Maybe bigger patios, too.

We toured Holiday Lodge at Cold Spring. I think the people there were very friendly and very helpful. We had an interview with some people there. It was independent living, as well as assisted living. There were different pay levels for how much care you required. The apartments were very nice. They had chef-prepared meals, which looked very good. They had a lot of activities. It was great. We saw the menus, and we saw the food that was put out on the table. It was very good; it looked like restaurant quality food. They had a social room. They had three meals a day. They also had a short menu that you could order anything you wanted, if you didn't want the three choices that were offered during the day. They also had what looked like a snack bar, but it was coffee, tea, cold drinks, yogurts and sandwiches. Food is available all the time. They have a bus that will take you to appointments, and they also shop three times a week. You can also have your car there. The place was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff I met were wonderful. I just think it's a great place to be, if you have to go into independent or assisted living. You can go in independent, and if you need assisted living, they can still do that there. You don't have to leave and look for another place should you need assisted living.

I toured Lodge at Cold Spring. It felt very welcoming. The person that took me on the tour showed me a bunch of different options and really discussed what they had to offer. We were taken to all the different areas, and they have a lot of different options. They have a bus, they have a library, they have a pool room, and they do video games. They just seem to have a lot of activities. You can even bring a dog if you have one. It was a very pleasant and welcoming place. The tour manager and the assistants went out of their way. They didn't rush us through. They took out their time. They showed us the entire complex, and there was no time limit placed on the tour. Like some of the other facilities, they would rush you in and out. Many of the residents came up and said, "Hello, are you looking?" They had a beautiful lunchroom and dining hall, and they had a special room where you can have birthday parties or any kind of party. I think my mom will be very happy there. Everywhere they took us, even into the rooms that were ready to be leased, they were spotless. It was very nice. Some people have cars, and they go out. There are nice sidewalks around other areas to walk, and they have a bus that will take you different places, you just have to see the schedule. They have a library, they have this huge TV room where you can play Wii games or whatever on the TV, they have a billiard table in a different room, and then they have a room where you can get snacks all day, like all kinds of coffee, tea, drinks, cookies, and fruits so that you can get a snack whenever you want, and it was like being in a hotel.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was staying at Atria Retirement Lodge at Cold Spring. One advantage of this place was if she wanted to try a residence in a different area, she could do that. In other words, they don't have any exchange programs where if you wanted to stay for 2-3 weeks in another facility with the same ownership, you can't do that now since it's run now by the Atria. It was independent, so she doesn't have anybody watching her at night. There's nobody there 24 hours, while in other places I visited, somebody's there 24/7. They just changed ownership and changed hands in April or May of 2021. The staff was good. It has a library and a separate dining room if you want to entertain your family or friends. She had a 1-bedroom, it's nice, it just needs to be updated but they just don't have the funds. It's spacious, it's a pretty good size for a 1-bedroom. They have an outdoor area. The food has gone downhill in terms of the quality and the amount of food. They had one room with a big TV in it and they have a library. The place needs to be updated.

I checked out Lodge at Cold Spring, and I was very interested in the place. It was extremely clean. They have a patio out in the front that we could use. If you go for a one-bedroom apartment, it's on the second floor, and you would have a balcony. I was more interested in their studio, which was on the first floor. It had no patio or balcony, but I have a pet which I would be allowed to keep, and it would be easier for me if we were on the first floor. The lady who showed us around was extremely nice, very accommodating, and very informative. We were absolutely happy with her. I liked the fact that if you do not care to eat in the dining room, you can take your meal back to your own room. They also have a little snack room so that if you don't want to eat at their times, you can go in there for a cup of coffee or something. So, they have everything. It was very, very nice.

The grounds and the building of Lodge at Cold Spring are very attractive with a very, very elegant appointment of the furniture and artwork. It's a lovely and very pretty place with a lot of options as far as the types of units that are available. I liked the options for activities and the interactions I had with the residents. They have a small gym, which is also very nice. It's an independent living and they provide a lot of services that I didn't realize like transportation and many other things. It was very surprising. I didn't quite know what to expect and this is the first one I've looked at but I was very, very pleased with it and I'm very interested in it. The staff was very nice, very knowledgeable, very patient, and answered all my questions. We even went into one of their models and the chef made us a dish of snacks. We had cookies, yogurt and fruit, and coffee and things like that. That was a very nice touch also and I liked it a lot. The dining area was very nice and very large. They were just starting lunch when I left. I met the chef. He came out and introduced himself. I also saw the menu, and what the menu was for the day and it was pretty good.

I toured Lodge at Cold Spring and the person who took me around was wonderful. She answered all my questions and explained everything. They got a nice dining area and it was large enough to accommodate the residents. The apartments were just too small for me. I have a three cushion couch, but they have put in a couch in there too, so I have no room for anything else. I like to sew and I have a special table for that, but there's no space for that, as well as a stove to cook my own meals. It's a beautiful place though, and all of that. I saw a lady who was sitting and putting puzzles together in a TV room, then there's a beauty shop, and a library. Residents can basically come and go as they wish. They also have a private dining room for special occasions. There was one resident who just had a birthday, and the family wanted to give them a little birthday party, and were in that room. The place was nice and clean.

I visited this facility

We toured Lodge at Cold Spring. The apartment-style does not work for my father. It's too small. They were very nice. The facility was very, very small, like their square footage with their apartment was within like 800 and 900 square feet and that was the very first one he saw yesterday, so that kind of just shocked him at how small they were. It's a small facility, but I like the amenities. We did like the way they described the checking to make sure all of the occupants were OK every day, the linen changing, all of that sounds wonderful. It's just not going to be big enough for my parents. I'm a little concerned that everybody wasn't masked. I was just surprised that there were a couple of places where it says please wear your mask, but then the tenants didn't have masks on and that might be perfectly normal and that might be what it is right now as a process, but that just made me a little concerned. I'm walking around amongst people and they're not masked from a tour perspective. I'm sure this doesn't sound fair because if you live there and you're not needing to wear a mask, it's not your fault. My father said the facility was very, very generic. He said, "It looks like somewhere you would visit, not live." I don't know if there's much you can do to make it maybe a little homier, but he didn't see any open spaces that looked inviting, like to just go and sit, a study-like, an area with a book or something like that. It did not have that warm, sort of cozy like your house feel. I'm not sure you're going to find that anywhere, but he felt that way about the Lodge. We looked at the menu and they were very, very nice. They baked some little stones. We had just eaten breakfast, so he didn't have any. They offered water and we did go to the cafeteria area. The staff was very nice. Everybody that we walked by that work there, we were introduced to. We spent a couple of minutes talking with the maintenance folks, as well as a woman, who I think is responsible for checking every day to make sure everybody is OK once they check-in for meals. If she doesn't have you recorded, she will call or go and find the individual. We spoke to her and her passion and commitment were evident. It was very nice.

The Lodge at Cold Spring was nice, but the price was a little bit too much. That was the main problem. The staff was good. It was very clean. They do a good job keeping it clean.

Both my parents moved into Lodge at Cold Spring. It is great. It feels like family there. It's wonderful. My overall experience was awesome. Their staff is very helpful, warm, receiving of us, very informative, and they've been over the top helping us out with everything. They first spoke to my mom and dad and their accommodations are wonderful. They've got a two-bedroom apartment and they're loving it. The same for the amenities, everything's been great so far. It is just very warm and welcoming. It is a local location. It is in an area where there's close by shopping and different grocery stores, and so forth, and major highways to be able to go anywhere. We toured the whole facility and the whole building. We personally haven't tried the food, but it seems to be OK. They have a nice choice. You don't get the same thing every day, so it's nice. We walked in and they were having a Saturday evening or afternoon get together. We were there the day we went visiting and they were having fun being involved in that and then again this past Saturday, it was kinda like a little Halloween party. With COVID, it's kinda hard. People gotta be kind of still social distancing and wearing masks, but it still looked fun. For what they have to offer and everything, it's wonderful.

Lodge at Cold Spring seemed OK, but it was a little more expensive than where my father-in-law is. Unfortunately, after we had already booked him into the place where he is currently, the guy came back to me and was willing to cut the prices down a little bit for us, but we had already signed a lease and everything at the other place. They seemed a little bit more expensive after having extra services put in. The staff members all seemed nice. They had activities going on there, but everything was very limited. Because of COVID their bus service wasn't completely in place yet for getting him to appointments, so they would make accommodations using Uber, which I wasn't thrilled about, but at least they still offered the service. The facility was nice. We didn't meet many people other than the woman at the front desk and then we just met the sales guy, and he was very nice. If he had given us a true price to begin with, it might have been different, and maybe my father-in-law would've been in there instead.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've been in Lodge at Cold Spring for almost two years. I don't have a stove in my room. We have a breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant, which is included in my rent. Activities vary every day. We have bingo, movies, an exercise room, and shopping every other day. They provide transportation to and from places and doctors. Most of the staff are easy to get along with. They clean the place every day and the rooms once a week. They change your bedding and clean the floor.

I know my mom was very impressed with The Lodge at Cold Spring. They were very nice, and it was kind of a rush job to try and find some place for her to go. They accommodated her, and it was really a nice experience. My mom dealt more with one of the managers, and he was very nice and explained everything. He let my mom and grandma stay in there while her little apartment was being readied. It was very nice. They let them stay there and eat the meals. The dining setup is a big room which looks like a restaurant where you go in and they wait on you. They have little menus on the table, and they'll come and ask what you want. There are some two-bedrooms, one-bedrooms, and what they call a studio, which is one large room. They have refrigerators, sinks, and some cabinets but no stove. It is very nice. They have housekeeping so she doesn't have to worry about vacuuming and all. They have movie nights and bingo. They have poetry classes and fun day evening where one of the managers plays the piano.
