I visited this facility

My tour of Coburg Village was great. I walked in without an appointment because I just did it on the spur of the moment. They accommodated me, so that was wonderful. It's very attractive, very warm, and welcoming like a home. They have two very, very nice dining rooms, and I remember that you can have a certain amount of money put in a card so you can purchase meals in the dining room. Or in your apartment, you can have your own kitchen, so you have an option. They have several different kinds of apartments. It's a very big place. They have cottages. The building is very big. The tour was great. They gave me a map, I sat down with a staff, and she went over everything. I looked at three apartments. They were all very nice, just one a little bit bigger than the other. I saw the dining rooms. I understood what was available. They explained everything. And I saw the activities area. They have a library where you can volunteer to help out. I saw the little gift shop, and you could also do volunteer work there. They have a reception area, sitting areas, and a dining room. It's very inviting, very comfortable, and lovely. It's like a hotel. The only thing there is that it's independent living. But they had a lot of different options for people, which was very nice. There are a few little stores there, but it's in a country kind of area. It's not overly developed, but it's a pretty area. The grounds are attractive, and you could have a car there.

My dad moved into Coburg Village. I feel like the people who work there and live there are very friendly. It just felt cozy when we were there. My dad has a regular apartment. It has a pretty big, full kitchen. It has an L-shaped dining room and a living room section. He has the one that has a little alcove off of it and a little patio outside. And then it has two bathrooms and a bedroom. They have tons of activities that go on every day. They have volleyball, cards, and swimming. They have speakers coming in. The kids come in to do Christmas carols around Christmas time.

Coburg Village has the option of three meals a day. They also have a 25-mile shuttle bus to doctor appointments, which is better than some of the others that only have ten miles. So, if you have doctors that are outside that ten mile, you wouldn't be able to take the shuttle. Coburg Village has some apartments that they call "no-frills" where it's cheaper because you don't have to do the meals and you don't get the shuttle, which makes it good. Yet at the same time, if you want to have meals, you just have to pay for them, but it's no more expensive for other people to buy the meals. One thing I didn't like about the rooms is that it's all carpeting and it was cream colored, no less. I don't like carpeting and even the dining room area was carpeted. That I think is just a cheap way to do the floors and doesn't make sense for hardly anybody to have light-colored carpeting. They said you have to have carpeting because of the noise issue. It's three levels and all the levels have carpeting, but if you were on the first level, the lady said you could remove the carpeting and you pay to have different flooring put down. It didn't look like their activities were good. I saw very few people out in the hall when it's a big facility. The few people I saw were quite old. Some of them had oxygen. There's no nursing staff or anything. You can bring aides if you need an aide, but once you start to have too much difficulty getting down to the dining room yourself (because they don't deliver meals to your room), it's going to be very limiting as to who can be there. Some people had scooters and walkers. Again, from my perspective, it looked like the people were older.

Coburg Village was very clean and pretty modern. It had a couple of different places that you could go to dine and all of the amenities were operated by the seniors themselves. They have a huge greenhouse and if you were to go away in the winter, some residents take care of your plants. They also have a library that is run by a retired librarian. They offer a wide variety of activities and things like that. They got physical therapy there, a hairdresser, and church services from a variety of different denominations. It was just a very nice place. The facility was shaped like an octopus. It's got a central hub and then there were many arms off of it and my mom was fortunate enough to get an apartment where it's near to a lot of the activities and the meals and things like that are going to be, but there are also a lot of apartments that are quite a distance away from all of this. So that's the only downside.

My mom had her heart set on Coburg Village initially. She had seen it with a friend of hers. She was always leaning towards moving there, and she did. They just renovated her room. She has lovely carpet and a beautiful porch. They do cleaning twice a month. It's really nice. She loves it. It's a very active community. They have arts and crafts, bridge, meals, and buses around the community. She loves the food.

I was very impressed with Coburg Village. The facilities themselves were quite nice and well maintained. There was a range of options available for people. You could eat three meals a day or just one meal a day. You could pick which meal you wanted. In addition to that, there's a bistro available where you can go and just order food separately, apart from the dining program itself. If they had guests over, they could go to the bistro and grab something to eat there. It had a fair degree of flexibility in the food options. The layout of the places was quite practical, and they also had a fairly extensive workout area. Even though it's designed for seniors, they had a pool, and they had other equipment that would be useful for strength conditioning for an old population, as well as anyone rehabbing from an injury. It was quite impressive. However, the one downside would be that they don't provide any assisted living at all. If you get to a point where you need some form of assistance, you have to move to a different facility. You can't age in place. The staff was wonderful. I didn't get to try the food, but I looked at it. I saw some other people eating it and it looked better than what I expected. I thought they kept the facility quite well. They maintained it well. If something got old, it seemed like they were inclined to replace it, which was nice.

I will be moving into Coburg Village. My mother was there for seven years, so I think she was happy, and the big advantage there is there's good food. They have a pool, and they have a workout area. They have outdoor golf putting, and they have an indoor area where you can raise plants. The staff is great. They have a restaurant-quality menu with all the cooks, waiters, and waitresses.

Coburg Village is an excellent facility. I've eaten there and the meals were great. I've gone over there and played cards with people. It's a very nice community. My church is interactive, so every Christmas time we've gone over there and put a Christmas show on, except this year, which is nobody can go anywhere. They've tried to limit the number of people who'll come this year. The ones I've interacted with have been nice, polite, and caring. The food was good. I believe they all come from a meal plan with three meals per day. They also have a little cafe where you can eat. The rooms are very spacious; they are about 800 square feet. I think they all come equipped with full kitchens. They're either one- or two-bedrooms. The facility is brand new. It was built from the last ten to 15 years and then expanded within that timeframe also. It was well-maintained. The staff comes in and does the housework. I believe they also do your laundry. Inside they have recreational rooms, they have an auditorium, and a chapel area. Those are about the only places I've been.

I found a place, which seems nice enough. It is called Coburg Village. I think my mom likes the place, but she said they were not completely open or transparent about some of the additional fees that would be involved. They talked about whatever the monthly cost would be, but apparently there has been some additional fees beyond that that she said she would like to have known about beforehand; after she got moved in, she found out about it. Overall, the place has been adequate. She is still adjusting to it. I think the staff has been good. My mom has met some people that she likes. She has had issues with is her internet service. She is still having some problem with that as far as being able to get on her computer and send emails. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. It would be nice if there were like an IT person there who can help out some of the seniors with that piece of it as well. My mother is there in independent living, and she is in an apartment. It is a 1-bedroom apartment. It’s very nice. It’s a very nice place.

I am/was a resident of this facility

We're very happy here in Coburg Village, and we've been here for two years now. The staff are great. They are extremely helpful. The apartments are very nice. We live in a very nice sized cottage which we like. The food is delicious, and we're very happy with the food. The dining room is a very pretty venue, and we have a swimming pool. There is a bus that will take us shopping, to medical appointments, or to the airport. They have all kinds of sewing and knitting groups, a library, card groups, movies, and outside entertainment coming in several times a week. It's very active and very secure. You need a key pass to get in through the doors. We would definitely recommend this facility.

Coburg Village is big, spacious and very nice. It's also very comfortable. They have a swimming pool, salon, barber shop and a garden. People are assisted very nicely there. The staff were gracious, people say hello when you walk through the halls. They called residents by name which is nice to see. They go out of their way to take care of their clients and there's a full time nurse even though it's an independent living facility. A lot of them are very elderly and needs a little bit of assistance. The apartments were very adequate, spacious and nice. I've eaten there several times, food was good. There were several choices of dining rooms and they were very spacious. They have all kinds activities – crafts, bingo games, book club, computers and off campus activities like shopping and cultural activities.
