I have chosen Covenant Living of Florida for my dad. One of the biggest pieces was the proximity to where my family lives, and the other piece was the pricing. For an independent living community, compared to some of the other places that we looked at, this one is fairly priced, taking into account the services that it offers. The staff members were very, very helpful, and very caring. The place is really beautiful. There's a lot of variety of activities and spaces. They have a gym and a different kind of fitness area. They have two restaurants, one that is more cafeteria-style, and another one that is more like a dining style. They have a couple of pools. They have a spa center. They have a hair salon, a barber shop, an art studio, and a woodworking shop. There are all kinds of things.

Covenant Living of Florida was very spread out and as far as getting around for someone who has limited mobility, I think it would be hard. I feel like it was very expensive, so it's kind of out of our price range because you had to do the buy-in. The facilities were beautiful. It's just a different type of senior living. It's more upscale. They had a dining room plus they had kind of like a cafe for quick ordering. They had more options than the other two places. The dining company that they use is called Sodexo and they always produce the best food, but it comes at a cost. The staff was very nice. They've got stuff that's still under construction and it was just too big for what we're looking for.

The rooms are shared. Some of the staff can be friendly while the other cannot be. My grandmother was placed here after a hospitalization and they prematurely sent her home without educating myself or my grandfather about her medications or physical therapy progress. She was not fit to go home and ended up being hospitalized within 24 hours of being discharged. No physician ever kept me or my grandfather updated. Terrible administration and terrible care.

Covenant Living of Florida is the one I'm leaning toward for my mother. What I liked the best was the fact that every new resident is paired with a resident who has been there for a while to help the new resident acclimate to their environment and the activities and everything available. I thought that was very helpful. I thought the place was very well-kept, very clean, and reasonably modern. Everything looked on the up-and-up. I was very pleased. The ones I met were very attentive and very knowledgeable about the units and the processes for everything. The facilities seemed ample. I saw a library and a gymnastics room, and I toured the actual living areas and the restaurants. I was very pleased with what I saw.

I only did a tour with the sales Director. He was very pleasant and the facilities seemed decent. The food was decent as well. Nothing special. I saw a couple different units and one of them was quite pleasant. The costs are high but that’s what you expect nowadays with inflation, having led to higher labor cost as well as upkeep, repair, overall facilities management. Location was good because it’s adjacent to a large city parking plantation which amplifies recreational potential.

I went to tour Covenant Living of Florida. I loved the staff. Her name was Kimberly. She was super nice. She's a very, very nice lady. It was a beautiful community. But what I didn't like is the fact that, where the dining room is and where the buildings are where you might have to move, the walking distance is too far for me. I broke my neck, my hip, and my leg back-to-back from 2021 to 2022. I am walking, and I'm getting around, but if I had to go to the dining room for meals once or twice a day, and let's just say it's raining or whatever, I wouldn't want to have to walk from wherever I'm living to one place to get my meals. It just doesn't make sense to me. I would want to be in the building and maybe go down an elevator or just have access to the dining room closer. That's one thing I did not care about the facility. They had a pool, which I'm not interested in. They had a nice little snack bar area. They had a gift shop, which could be very, very nice, but it was probably 75% empty. There wasn't much stock in it. If you wanted to buy a gift or a card, there wasn't much in the gift shop. I had lunch there, and the food was very good. They had a very elegant dining room. Very, very nice dining room. I was with three other ladies. One of the ladies got sick because she had had a procedure called the sleeve on her stomach. So she got sick after lunch and we didn't have time to look at an apartment. So, I did not get to see an actual apartment, although I have several friends that lived there, and they rave about the community. However, it's just not for me. Their staff was excellent. My food was excellent. However, the facility could use some work. It's an older facility, but I think they do their best to keep it updated. They're working on it from what I can see. It's a work in progress. There was no activity whatsoever going on that I saw when I was there, and I was there for a good two hours. There were no activities at all. Maybe it was the time of day, which was lunchtime. Even the lunchroom didn't have that many people in it. It just didn't look like there was very much going on.
