I chose The York House for Mom. The prices were affordable. It includes rent, utility, and cable. The staff is friendly and helpful. They do have bingo and different activities that go on monthly. They have a gym and a playroom. They are near the hospital.

It is apparently a non smoking building but residents smoke and ventilation brings it to all the other apartments making it hard to breathe. So many complaints filed but nothing being done. People already living with health issues are suffering. If you want to destroy your peace and health then rent York house senior housing.

My father has moved into The York House. It's a very nice and quiet community. The people there are willing to work with you no matter what your income is. It's very clean. There are lots of activities for you, too. Because of the pandemic, they haven't opened up their cafeteria yet. Right now, you have a kitchen in your unit. You just cook your own food or you have them delivered. The staff is very good, very personable, and took care of us. Good customer service. They have a gym and a recreation room (where they do all kinds of activities like bingo and karaoke). They put out a calendar monthly of the different activities that are going on.

The York House was the only place we visited, as it is near my client’s place. We were both very impressed by the place, especially for what it was. They seemed to offer quite a bit and at a relatively reasonable monthly rate. The only concern was that this is completely independent living. For instance, the laundry facilities were located at the basement level. There was elevator access, but I could sense that was going to be a real challenge for daily living needs. The staff was very good and helpful. They took us on a wonderful tour and followed up with us. The facility was very clean and nice. She was really leaning toward making that decision before things turned in the wrong direction for her physically.

When I first moved in I was lonesome; but the residents that I met on the elevator,in the lobby or sitting in the lounge made me feel welcome. The activities are numerous: they have a bus to take you to the supermarket and back, Jazz night, trips to casinos,Reading Terminal Market,Oldies night, exercise classes, big screen Tv computers and library for residential use. The health aides that come in are very friendly. The building is always clean including hallways and trash rooms. I was there it felt like home
