We moved into Somerby Mount Pleasant. This community has a number of educated people. There is a large proportion of men which helps my husband a lot. It doesn't have all the facilities that some of the other communities have, but for us, the intellectual stimulation is worth everything. Sometimes, the food is good and sometimes it's not.

Somerby of Mount Pleasant is a well-managed place. My mom is there and they always have the resident's best interests at heart. The rooms are small, but they're very clean and updated. The staff is excellent. They are caring, friendly, kind, and very nice. The food has not been very good, but it is improving, now that they hired a new chef. They have a gym room, a swimming pool, onsite physical therapy, some classes like chair yoga, and social activities like themed parties. Then they have daily activities like Rummikub and Bridge once a week (although you could play bridge every day if you find people). They have a rosary group and they also take you to church or grocery/stores if you need to. Someone will take you on a bus. If you need a ride and you ask way in advance, they are very nice about arranging that. The only problem is it's expensive and the price goes up every year.

I went to tour Somerby of Mount Pleasant. The person that was showing us around was very informative, and she told me everything. The food was very, very good. It has lots of amenities like a pool and gym, all kinds of stuff and things to do. It was one of my top three. They have two main meals, which are usually lunch and dinner, and breakfast was just continental breakfast. Everything about the place was nice and it was very clean. It's located near everything, hospitals, shopping, and they take them shopping during the week. It had a lot of facilities because it was brand-new, it even had a saltwater pool.

My first impression of Somerby of Mount Pleasant was it's clean. It had wide-open spaces. We visited two facilities and their Covid protocol was better than the other facility. They took it more seriously and required us to check-in and get our temperature and wear a mask. We worked with Christy and Annmarie and they were very professional. They were both busy but the tour was pretty seamless, so they were good. The food seemed pretty nice and they had good options. I don't remember seeing the activities, but we got a calendar and we learned about some of the activities that they do. They have a pool and a salon. We saw some bugs that infiltrated the area though.

I toured Somerby of Mount Pleasant in person. I saw all the activities, and I was overly impressed. They have an arts class, a movie class, an indoor, heated pool, weight room, and they have a PT onsite. The staff was very nice, and we had an actual tour guide. It was also very clean.

We looked at Somerby of Mount Pleasant. I've seen it in person, and I did the virtual, but I thought the amenities were a lot better at the other place. I wasn't impressed with the staff; they weren't friendly. The facility was very clean, and well kept. As far as the facility, I would give it a very good rating, as far as presenting itself; it all looked well cared for. The staff members weren't quite as friendly, and there didn't seem to be as many staff members.
