I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Let me just start by saying the staff is amazing, they are always polite and smiling. It's amazing how they know all their residents' names and how attentive they are with everyone. My friend has lived at the Hampshire for about 6 months now, he really enjoys it and has made tones of new friends. They have a calendar filled with activities for the entire month, which I thought was amazing, it keeps them busy! They even have live music every other week or I think it could be once a month, I'm not sure but it is live music and fun. I was worried at first but that all went away after visiting a few times and seen the progress he made. If you are looking for a good Retirment home for your loved ones, you have to come here first and see for yourself how AMAZING this place really is. PS. I loved the fact that this facility does not have a bad order like others we visited, they do a great job keeping it very clean.

My mom is a resident of Holiday The Hampshire. The people are nice, and the facility is great. They serve really good food. I got the turkey and gravy the last time I ate there. They have an exercise room, a little movie theater, a pool table, and a poker table. They also have internet. Plus, they have a little garden club. If you want to join the gardening club, you can have your own little area to plant things. The staff are very friendly, really nice, and they remember everybody's name. The place is really clean. They also have bingo and exercise classes, and all kinds of stuff.

What a magnificent staff and living facility!! Been trying to get our Mom to move out from Florida to Cali for 7 years, since Dad passed. She finally decided to come, but wanted her own space, rather than living with us as we all desired. She's a little high maintenance and bougie--Dad's fault. So, it was very important that the 6 siblings and Mom-Grandma-GGMa could agree on a nice place that she could call home, close by us, but that had the internal support, amenities, security and surroundings she needed. We discovered all of this and more in the Holiday Hampshire by Atria in Merced! Once Mom sealed the deal, we moved all her stuff in, so that when she arrived, she would see her belongings already set up in her new place. We will never forget--She walked in the door of her apartment, looked around in awe, and with a smile said “Wow, I’m Home! I’m Home”. And she’s been loving her new home ever since! Such a joy to have her near us and see her happy and thriving! From viewing and renting the place to moving Mom in, the staff has been the BEST EVER! Robin, the manager, is amazing—and one of the main reasons we chose Hampshire. She catered to us from the first time we “showed up”, giving the siblings “several” separate and joint tours of ALL floor plans, on the spot! Robin arranged video tours for Mom and answered several phone calls/emails/other contacts—even after hours. Robin was so attentive, kind, friendly, detailed, patient, knowledgeable –explaining everything fully and answering every question (and we had lots and lots of questions, even after the tour). She is absolutely wonderful with the residents. Whenever we were on site, we noticed she always spoke to every person by name, which all of her team does as well! She listens and radiates with an “I care” attitude, and that was the atmosphere we wanted our mom in!! Shout out also to Ana, Lydia, Nancy and Reyna who are pretty awesome as well! Our family visits Mom much, so they see us regularly, and have been helpful, outgoing, personable and enjoyable—and they treat Mom, aka "Ms. Maggie", with such respect. Like she's family! They participated in her “exuberant” greeting on Mom’s move in day—sooo precious-made Mom feel welcome from the start and they keep on doing so daily. Floor plans excellent layouts, spacious, clean and new carpet. Amenities--above and beyond! 3 sit down meals daily with fantastic food—guests can eat with their families any time, which we and the grandkids have done often—scrumptious meals from their head chef “Guy”-- great variety, served restaurant family style—with an option to have food delivered when sick. So much is included: on site staff most of the day, medical alert system, WIFI, cable, utilities, maintenance, weekly housekeeping, on and off-site activities galore, church services, live performances, crafts fairs, exercise, shuttle bus for appointments or leisure, salon, nails, and social interaction in so many ways including sports on the big screen TV in the atrium—IT’S ENDLESS! Everything needed is in place for Mom to enjoy! And she’s made many new friends—and loves dining with “her crew”. The place is beautiful—immaculate, pretty landscaping, lots of lighting all around the facility—very safe and secure (we went by there at all times of the day and night—yes midnight and 3am too , just to review lighting and safety—it’s well lit—no “stragglers” or critters hanging out--even went and tried all the doors that give outside access to see if we could get in--safe and secure--passed the test with flying colors-we don’t worry at all about Mom’s safety.) Inside, the decor and portraits are gorgeous—seasonal decorations on going year-round, and on Christmas, even Mr. and Mrs. Claus joined the festivities in the dining room at their table featuring an extravagant meal spread set up—so cute! This Holiday Team simply keeps it live, upbeat, homey, and fun for the residents! They also keep open communications-hosting safety meetings and open chats with residents for performance feedback. Mom knows exactly what to do and where to go in an emergency. What an excellent, cost-effective living community, considering all they provide and the top-notch staff. Absolutely NO regrets about this decision! WE LOVE IT!! LIVE HERE, AND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE GONNA LOVE IT TOO!!!

I am/was a resident of this facility

Holiday The Hampshire is a nice community of people that I can interact with. I like my room. It gives me a lot of privacy. We have a really good general manager here named Robin. The other staff is very good, too. When things need to be fixed, they are right on it. The food is real good, and I enjoy it. We do chair exercises every morning (which works well with my balance), movies, art classes, and a couple of Bible studies. The facility just needs some updating, but they keep it real nice. There is a nice dining room and a community area. There is a nice garden outside that's well-landscaped.

My father moved into The Hampshire last year. He really liked the fact that he no longer was going to eat left overs, and TV dinners. He also liked that he did not have to eat sandwiches, often! The meals were great, that's all he talked about. After a few months the quality of the meals declined. Change of Chefs, staff, costs savings measures, what ever. With COVID, meals are just outright terrible. Inadequate portions, cold, lukewarm at best! We have been patient during this pandemic, but the Hampshire has failed to develop a better way to serve there residents. He told us about Sundays meal with the miniature chicken legs (probably drumettes) a ball of rice, with no season, butter or flavor and spinach that was cold. Most people have a hard time eating spinach in the first place. Today he was looking forward to having pot roast for lunch. He stated the serving was about the size of a credit card. He said it was not just terrible but Exceptionally terrible! Small portion served with burnt potatoes and green beans again! My father is not the type of person to complain. but the meals are just outright unacceptable. He has voiced his displeasure with us on the quality of food on numerous occasions.

Provider Response

Hi there, thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that your father is a resident of our community, however, there seem to be some concerns. We understand that the local team has been able to communicate with you further regarding the food being served. We also have a new community chef that we are very excited to bring into our community, and have been receiving positive feedback from the residents. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to reach out to the local team. Our goal is to have happy residents and family members so your feedback is important to us. Thank you

My parents are in The Hampshire. The building setup is convenient for the elderly. It has a nice dining room, a little exercise room and a lot of amenities for the residents to enjoy. They have a library, a TV/media room, and a game room. They offer three meals a day. The staff is very good. The carpeting throughout the main area is old and needs to be replaced.

I visited this facility

I visited The Hampshire and Sandy. The lady that interviewed me was wonderful and explained everything. If I would have to go anywhere I'd go to this community, because they have a room I like and they're letting me take my two little dogs. It's a wonderful place. She made sure to tell me everything. They showed me a room they had on the bottom floor. The rooms have a patio for the dogs. There's no fence, but she said we could put up a fence if I wanted. Everything that I really needed was there, and they encourage everybody to get out and not just stay in the room. I was there during lunchtime and the food looked good. They invited me to go back and try the food. They take you shopping once a week, they have a place to get your hair done, and they're everything that you need. The building itself is clean and nice.

My son moved into independent living of The Hampshire. The staff was fabulous and really worked with him. The place is lovely and so clean. I really love it and had everything a person could want. The dining room is beautiful, the menu is wonderful, and the food looks beautiful. He really likes it and the people. He met some other veterans he can identify with and likes them, too.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I like The Hampshire very well. I have moved in to a 2-bedroom, and I like living here. The food is very good, it's prepared for those of us who are older and have special needs, and it's quality food. The staff is very accommodating and nice, and they have quite a few activities here. They have an exercise room, they have a nice grand piano, and occasionally they have people come in and entertain there in the lobby. They have movies once a week, and they have a library.

The Hampshire was so nice. The guy in charge was very, very kind and showed us around. I thought, "God I could live here." The facility was spotless, gorgeous, and brand new. I fell in love with it, but my brother needs more care. The dining area was beautiful; I was really impressed. I wish that we could afford to live there. That’s how much we like it.

I visited this facility

I had an appointment in Hampshire at 1 p.m. and I was running late. I didn’t meet with anybody there -- I wasn’t sure who to go to. Nobody came out to talk to me, but I met a lady that I knew from church. She lives there and has a studio apartment, so she invited me to look inside. Then I saw the lunch room and it was packed when I was there. They said the room was finished and I guess it had a desk and a chair. It had an air conditioner, heater, and a good sized bathroom. The doorway was wide enough for a wheelchair to get in and out. It had a small sink and a small refrigerator. It didn't have a stove because they served all the meals in the lunch room and this was a few months back. I noticed there are a lot of people in the dining room and there was really no place to sit down. They have a sign in front that says you couldn’t come in anytime and have lunch there. It looks like it’s a new place and it’s cheaper. The place is nice, neat, and clean. Their apartment is condominium style and it looked nice. They would take the residents on bus rides for shopping or to different places. The person I talked to felt that it was nice and she enjoyed living there.

I like the yard and maintenance at Hamsphire. The inside was nice and clean as well. The room was great and the ones I looked at had a kitchen, living room, and bedroom. Everything is great, although I feel it was small as I’m used to a big house. The dining area looked good to me and the staff was very friendly.

The Hampshire had good proximity, and better food. It’s very bright, and I like the openness of it. I really liked the staff. They were very friendly and the people who served the food were very nice. The residents were also nice. They also have residents’ ambassadors who met new people. They have exercises and bible study, and the guys played cards. We liked that there were activities attended by guys. My wife’s uncle moved in over a week ago.
