I am/was a resident of this facility

The rooms are quite nice. Some of them have electrical problems. That's probably due to previous tenants. The food is not always good, but improving. The art on the walls leaves much to be desired. I can't tell what the artist was trying to portray. The staff is excellent, but not well-supported. The grounds are well-groomed and generally beautiful.

Holiday Laurel Grove was very well laid out. It looked very clean and homey. My mom was with me when I visited this facility, and she immediately felt a sense of peace almost like she was at home. The staff was wonderful, very caring, very energetic, and intelligent when she spoke about the facility. She was concerned more for my mom's happiness, so I'm hoping that's going to continue once Mom moves in. We had lunch with them one day, and it was very good. In terms of activities, people were getting ready to go to Walmart, just a little get-out-of-the-house type thing. And there were people playing games. Some were putting puzzles together. We had heard of other activities like choir practice and different things. One of the reasons we chose this place was because of the activities. The food was healthy, it tasted good. It was not what you would stereotypically think for an old age home.

Holiday Laurel Grove was located in a heavy-traffic area. You could hear the traffic from the rooms. Getting in and out was kind of inconvenient, too. But that was the only thing wrong with that place. I loved the people and the rooms. The staff who assisted me with the tour was very friendly and very outgoing. They had a movie room, sewing classes, crafts, a computer room, and a library. I saw a duplex and it was very nice. It had a refrigerator, a stove, and a washer/dryer. There weren't a lot of outdoor spaces. It was very urban. It was mostly what was in the building, but they had some walking trails in the front.

I toured Holiday Laurel Grove. The people were very informative. Great tour. They were very polite and they explained everything. My take is just the room, even for a one-bedroom, it is too small. I saw a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom. The staff who accommodated me was very kind and very informative. She described the facility well. I came during lunchtime, and it seemed to be very orderly and great service for the tenants there. They explained all the activities that they have and the levels and the areas where the activity is being conducted. Overall, the facility was great, and the tour was great. It's just, for me, personally, the room that I looked at (especially the one-bedroom) was just too small. They are undergoing renovations and upgrades, especially in the amenities area and activities area, so I cannot wait to see once those are completed.

I had an in-person tour of Holiday Laurel Grove. The grounds were beautiful, well-kept, and very picturesque. It was a very nice community. Their staff members were very attentive and very passionate. They have a lot of tenured people there, which is good. They have intimate knowledge of the seniors there. They had a pool table, a theater room, puzzles, games, activity rooms, and a parlor for getting your hair done. They had a number of activities, facilities, and a calendar of events. It was very impressive. The rooms were quite big. We looked at the studios and a one bedroom. They were big and well-kept. They had balconies, which was good. They also had cable TV.

I did a tour of Holiday Laurel Grove. They were excellent, as far as the management people who were touring, but their prices were considerably higher. The staff, she had not been on the job that long. Her name's Patricia, she was just very attentive to details and making sure that you understood everything, showing you everything, even going around speaking to the different residents who were there, and they were very embracing. Her manager, Janet, made it a point to come and meet me. She was very friendly, and a couple of days later, even followed up with me. They did tell me they have a chef on staff, but I did not taste it. I like the physical appearance, but it needs renovation, the apartments, and even the common areas. The common areas did look a little better, but the apartments themselves were a little dated. They had been taken over, but they were going to be under new management. So, they were going to be doing some renovations over the next year to the common areas first before they get to the apartment. The people were very embracing, they do everything they could. They did an excellent job with following up. They even texted me, just kind of finding out how's your touring going, or any questions that you might have. They did a really good job with that. They had everything. They had a beauty shop, and transportation. They did tours even to the casinos, I thought that was nice. They had the activities director. She did a lot of stuff, and had a lot of activities planned. They had a reading room and library. They have cardio machines.

Laurel Grove was lovely. It would have made a great choice. They offered us a good entry package. I met with a woman who was actually visiting that campus from the corporate facility. She was very helpful and welcoming. The facility was clean, and it's real easy to access the building. They were in the process of replacing the furniture and reupholstering the common area. It was getting a little facelift. The unit that we were shown and offered was a studio apartment. It was small, but really well laid out and very handicapped-accessible. It's ground level, and it was light and bright. I was told that if the resident had an order for physical therapy/occupational therapy that was available. They also have a shuttle that can take residents to local shopping. I think they were getting ready to have some kind of celebration/party in this one meeting room, and we saw several of the residents out in the hallway. They have an ambassador program where an incoming resident would be checked on by one of their other resident ambassadors. They would invite them to join them for a meal and to just kind of break the ice and make them feel welcomed, so that was nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law is a resident of Laurel Grove, he likes it. He prefers to stay in there rather than come out and visit. The staff is really good, and the lady I talked to was wonderful. They have enough activities that there's usually something to do if they care to. If they don't, they have nice rooms that they stay in. They like eating in the dining room with the rest of the residents, they enjoy that. It's very nice, clean and attractive. I can say that myself because I've been in there. The staff hasn't always been that way. They used to have some administration that he didn't like, but they are gone, and the ones that are in charge now are just great. Most of the rest of the staff was good all along, it's just there was some boss person that wasn't good for a while, but they got rid of them. It's like going into someone's well-kept home, more like a well-kept hotel. It's clean, got nice furnishings, and it's decorated nicely. They play good music. The only thing I've heard about is balloon volleyball. He has a girlfriend up there and they play balloon volleyball. I think that's about all the physical activities he takes part in anymore, but he's in his 90s. He has a unique case because he is paying for a room that he does not use. I don't know if that's Laurel Grove's fault; his girlfriend had a large suite, and they moved in together. He's tried to work it out with Laurel Grove to allow them to split the rent, but I think they require him to have a room. So, he's paying for a room that he doesn't even know is there. He doesn't even go in it; he stays in the room with his girlfriend. There's someone else that he pays to come and do some of the support for them. She comes in from the outside, does their medicine, laundry, cleans up, and takes them to doctors and stuff like that. So that's somebody hired from the outside. That's how they can still be in independent living, and stay out of a more supportive thing, but they like it that way. It's a good place. When we first went there, he grumbled and grumbled. But as soon as he made a friend there, he loves it. He's happy, and it makes it easier on us. The room that they are in is on the first floor, and they have got their own little patio. I think the higher levels have a little deck or something, and it's nicely landscaped. I've been there only briefly, but everything they have looks nice and they do have little patios.

My mother has chosen Laurel Grove, and we're very, very pleased with that. The people are very caring and very friendly. They're there to help people, not just to get a paycheck. The place is very clean and happy that's why we picked it. She gets assistance with certain things. They have a lot of activities, from arts and crafts to balloon volleyball. They have all kind of things.

I liked the people that I talked to at Laurel Grove. They seemed to really enjoy it there. The rooms were OK, but they did not have full kitchens (which was one downfall). They had a shared kitchen out in the main area that if you wanted to bake something, you could go out there. There's an oven and stuff. In the room, there was a refrigerator, a sink, and a tiny little countertop; that's about it. You're allowed to have a toaster or microwave or something like that. There's no washer or dryer, but the rooms were nice. It was relatively affordable. I enjoyed the staff very much. They seemed to know all the residents. They would personally greet each person that they passed in the hall. They have game rooms, movie nights, and happy hours. The facilities were nice. They were clean. Three meals were included in their price. It was very pretty. There's enough seating areas where people could sit around and talk or do whatever. They also had travel options for you. For instance, if you wanted to go visit somebody in New York and if they have a facility in that place, you could stay there. So, that was a nice feature and just the building itself was nice. It had a big open atrium, so there's a lot of sunshine. We felt comfortable there.

My mother seems to love Laurel Grove. I have not visited it though. I live in Oregon, and they are in Georgia. She says the food is great, and they have lots of activities. The staff seems to be very kind and caring. She is very comfortable there. Her apartment is almost 600 square feet, so it is pretty big, and she loves it. There is no carpet. They do Wii activities. She used to be a big bowler when she was younger, and they have Wii bowling. She has really gotten into that. They seem to have socials two or three times a week for everybody to get together Everyone that she and I have had contact with have been wonderful. They are very responsive. If I send an email to ask something, I get an answer back the same day. She doesn't have one bad thing to say about any meal. I know they have a library because she borrowed a book. They have a little exercise room. There is a living room where they can go and there are snacks, coffe, tea, and bottled water. She will go and hang out sometimes in the afternoon there and just talk to people, whomever shows up.

We loved Laurel Grove, it's really nice. I saw it three years ago when we started all these for my mom and brought her up here. I've been in it. For the price, that place is the best, it's clean, neat, organized, plenty of parking, the facility was just very, very nice. I've only dealt with the sales manager, but she's been awesome.

I like Laurel Grove. I've got friends over there but apparently, they've switched their chefs lately. One of my friends said the food is not appetizing in there now. They also supposedly bring the food to the rooms during this COVID thing. But my friend's husband can't go down so she told me, "We didn't get meals twice this week.", and she had to go out for him. I don't think they have any activities right now because my friend had said it's been very quiet. They're not doing the regular stuff, but I have seen them play games when times were good in the main room, and they got a girl, who was actually from our church, to play the piano for them. I know they play games, but I've never actually taken part in any of that. I just usually go over to visit and end up staying for lunch or dinner sometimes. I thought the food was fine, but that was two chefs ago, I'm not sure about now. The staff has been wonderful and very good. The facility was clean, neat, pretty, and looked alive.

My father is in Laurel Grove. They're very accommodating, helped me through the whole process, and they're very attentive. He has a good-sized room. He's been there for two days now. I was able to go in, and it was perfect. Everybody had a good time. They were playing balloon volleyball in the downstairs common area, they had live music out on the lawn and a guy was playing his guitar, they had movies, and they do all kinds of things.

Laurel Grove is a wonderful facility. They've never had COVID. It's great. I love it. They have plenty of activities for them, but with COVID, the activities come and go. They have bingo, volleyball, sitting in a chair with a balloon, word search, and a lot of things. It's a little expensive, but all places are. My mother likes the food.

The person that normally does the tour for Laurel Grove was not there and so the people that were there, they really didn't do a good job of welcoming me and doing a tour. I wasn't very pleased with the community. I didn't get to see activities because they didn't show me that part. I ate lunch there, and the food was fine. Their room was not wheelchair accessible; I didn't like that.

The tour at Laurel Grove was good, and the staff is very friendly, informative, and very nice. The apartments were a bit dated, clean, but not adequate for what my mother-in-law was looking for. It didn't have a full kitchen, just a refrigerator, and a very small sink and countertop. The environment overall was very good, there were people everywhere, and lots of stuff going on. The dining area was fine and like a restaurant. It's worth a visit.

Laurel Grove Independent Living appeared to me to be a little old and it seems to have been around longer. It didn't have the newness or the energy that I would like in a community. They didn't have any available independent rooms, and they had small and outdated rooms. But the person who gave the tour was very nice and cordial, there was nothing wrong with the staff that I met. Their dining room looked dated like the rest of the place. They had a recreation room that's like an area with a pool table, that's all that I saw.

I really liked Laurel Grove. I was going to move my mom there, but they don't have any studios now and they won't be able to meet the level of where she is. The facility was nice. I really enjoy the staff there. He was really nice and helpful. It's a good community. The rooms were nice sized. I like that if someone is in a wheelchair, they can roll it into the shower as opposed to stepping over it. The dining area was well lit and very inviting. They had activities for the different dimensions of the person, physical, emotional, and spiritual. There were three floors, so there were a lot of amenities. The layout was great. They had nice wide hallways.

I loved Laurel Grove, but it was just so expensive. It was a big older building, and they had big rooms. The staff was nice. They were very helpful and cordial, and they answered all the questions that we had. They had the game room, and the movie theater type of thing. They told us about the activities, and we got an activity sheet, and we were just really interested in the living type -- the laundry, the tasks. They were telling us about the amenities that they have, and the staff that will come in and clean for you every once in a while. The food was good. It was a very nice place to stay, and you would love to stay there, if you could afford to stay there. They have a lot of activities and different things that they take you to.

I'm living in Laurel Grove. I love it. The staff is excellent. The housekeeping, kitchen staff, and the dining room - they're all excellent. They offer a variety of each meal too. When I started out, I was in a one-bedroom because my husband was with me. I'm now in a studio, which I love because it is really all the room I need for being by myself. It is compact, but it is roomy enough that I have room to move around and have like a living room area and a bedroom area all in the same room. I have a little kitchenette area with a refrigerator, and I have my own microwave. I also have a separate bathroom. It is very nice. The dining area is very large. It is on the first floor. It is off the atrium and the activity center. They have round tables that are set for four people at each table, which makes for a nice dining experience because it kind of forces the people to socialize a little bit. I would recommend Laurel Grove to others.

We liked Laurel Grove very much. They offered my mother a free week to visit, and we found the people to be very nice. We've had several personal friends who have had relatives there who liked it. We saw three or four different apartments. We saw the activity room and watched the residents make patriotic Memorial Day wreaths for the doors of the residences. They told us about how the residents make cookies and take them to the fire department and the police department every week. They talked about having ice cream socials every afternoon. They invited my mother to come back and stay with them day and night for a full week to see what it's like every day. We found the facility to be very good, and the food we had was excellent. The place is very small. Half of the people are Alzheimer's patients; they're in one wing. The place has assisted living residents in another wing.

We visited Laurel Grove, and it's a beautiful facility. We room was very nice. We had lunch there, and the food was very good. Their dining area was very nice as well. The people who serve us lunch were very gracious, but when we went there for our appointment, there was no one to greet us. We kind of sat down and didn't know what to do. We sat for a little while, so I finally went in and we walked in a dining room. I went in and asked the waiter, and they gave us lunch, but after that, we didn't know what to do next. The lady who toured us was kind of annoyed because she knows that we will not be moving to that facility.

I like Laurel Grove. It would cost me and my son about $4500, and the VA was going to pay about $1900 of it. It is still about $2600 left to pay, and that's pretty high a month. They were very nice to me. I talked to different people there. It was a very nice place -- high class and very clean. The rooms were nice, and for my son and me, it would be enough room. We ate lunch there, and it was very satisfactory. The dining area was very clean. I had no complaints whatsoever. The only thing is they had too much pork, and I don't eat pork. They were courteous, informative, and answered all my questions.

Laurel Grove is a huge facility. In fact, it is twice as big as the other facility I've looked at. They have more people in there too. Their dining room is big. They have plenty of scheduled activities, which I'm really not interested in. They showed me the second floor but I'm not interested in that as well because I would like to be in the ground floor if ever. Because it is a huge place and thus many people living there, I don't like this facility overall.

The center is somewhat smaller than what i was looking for. The food was somewhat salty like the mashed potatoes and peas which i thought to be very unhealthy because all the residents are elderly and most already have health issues. On the other hand they have hardworking staff i watched some staff members freely do a double shift and to me it didn't seem like it was for the money it seemed as if they were caring and genuine employees taking the extra mile to help.
