I visited this facility

I went to Towers at Laguna Woods Village. It's nice, and the staff is very good and very helpful. It's a retirement community and overall, it's pretty good. They set it up so it's convenient for the seniors. They have a gym and you can use a pool.

My mother-in-law is at the Towers at Laguna Woods Village and she's been there for about nine years now. They are the most affordable in our area and it's like living in a condo. She got a two-bedroom with one bath, and the Towers at Laguna Woods Village is just one of the eight buildings there. The community has 12,000 people in it. It's high rise and there are no nursing facilities, but there's always somebody that you can talk to at the front desk. They also have studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and then some three-bedroom places. Relatively you can buy it, or the landlord wants to rent it out, and she's renting one. You can't actually have a 24-hour caregiver unless that caregiver has her own bedroom, but she's in a one-bedroom place so that was part of the dilemma before. When she was able to recover, she decided to go back there. Each apartment has a two-burner stove so you could make your own breakfast and lunch, then just go to the dining room for dinner, but now that you can't go there, they're having room service. I hear her say that some days the food is better than others, but I'm sure it is fine. They provide the evening meals, housekeeping once a week, and the rent includes your payment for electricity. There's also a bus service in the whole community, seven clubhouses, and five swimming pools. She went to pottery, to the movies and you can take advantage of the other places.

The facility is nice but dated especially the furniture but it’s clean. The staff is great and very hard workers. The FOOD is poor, very poor quality and just terrible.

My parents moved into Towers at Laguna Woods Village, and it’s great, well-kept up, and looks like a resort when you’re going into it. The apartments are all very nice, clean, and kept up. The dining room is nice. I would recommend it to anybody, you can buy one, or lease. They clean the apartments weekly, first with a light clean, then the next week they vacuum. They seem to like the food. I think I may get a little tired of the lunch menu, but there is a variety. Sometimes there’s not enough staff, but the employees are very nice. There are lots of activities, like ping pong, swimming, yoga, and ukulele lessons. There’s singing, church, and golf. I would recommend the Towers to anybody who’s independent. They have a bus service, and the location is the best.

We found a place for my in-laws in Towers at Laguna Woods Village. It's OK and clean. They have a very beautiful view. They send them a cleaner every week. The food is ready once a day from 4:00 to 7:00 in the evening. They have a very small kitchenette to fix their own breakfast. They have elevators. My in-laws' room is very bright, clean, and sunny. They're very happy with this place. However, their food gets a little boring after awhile because they keep repeating. After a couple of months, it gets a little boring to my in-laws, and they have a little problem with the plumbing sometimes. Other than that, we don't have complaints or concerns.

I visited this facility

The Towers was quite large, and we were not impressed by it because the elevator was flooded with water from some source. They were trying to plug it up, and there was only one elevator up to see the first floor that we were going to see. There were many people who were waiting to use that one elevator, and we didn’t think it was a pretty situation. We had dinner because we knew someone who was a guest there. Everything was excellent, the people were nice and everything, but it seemed like it would be for somebody much older than what my mother-in-law is. There were too many people having to wait in line -- all of them at different floors -- for the one elevator, we feel that it wasn’t adequate, and we didn’t care for that at all. Nor did we care for the long, long hallways.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My husband and I stayed at The Towers before he got very sick. We had our own apartment with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. The apartment was cleaned and linens changed once a week. There was an exercise class for the residents and bus tours once a week. Meals were served every day and salad bars were also available. However, my husband had Alzheimer's and it got worse so we had to move out. It was difficult for me to look after him when he wandered and his incontinence got even worse. Nonetheless, it was a gorgeous place and I loved it.
