I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved into Atria Kennebunk. They have a wonderful staff there. A couple of the staff members have been in hospice care and have worked with memory care residents in other facilities. It's just been a phenomenally positive experience for my mom as well as for my family. She transitioned from an assisted living room and was physically moved down to the memory care unit, which is on the first floor, and that was traumatic right there. So it took her quite a bit of time, or several months, to get used to that. However, the staff has been phenomenal in helping her. Her room is like a little apartment. She has her own place for her bed. She has a living room, a bathroom, and a little kitchenette area, which she doesn't use. We brought in a little table if she wanted to sit. But she primarily goes to the dining area, where all the residents of that unit eat together. They have TV and music. They do bingo and play cards. They all go to the music, which is for the whole community, and they enjoy that. They have other functions going on, like they just had their 25th anniversary, where they had cake, ice cream, balloons, and games going on. The music has been great for my mom as well as other residents of the memory care unit.

I'm in Atria Kennebunk. It's beautiful, very appealing, and clean, cleaner than any place I've ever been in and they work so hard on cleaning this place. I have nothing really negative to say. The care is fabulous. The care team is wonderful. Everything's good, some above and beyond, better than good. It's a wonderful place to live. They have a dining room. The food is very good. We have activities. We have a driver to take us to appointments. We have apartments and they're wonderful. They have a movie theater that we can watch movies, fitness classes, exercise, a happy hour, and a lot of music. We have entertainment sometimes. Tonight is Ladies Pizza Night and it's got a Hawaiian theme. There's poker for those who want to play it, trivia, and giant crossword puzzles. There's always something good going on most of the time. Last week, we had a clambake. Next week, it's the 25th anniversary of this Atria, so they're doing something for that. We play cornhole. They're there for you in a second. I feel very safe here and very comfortable. I'm just glad I'm here. The maintenance is fabulous, the care team, we have a nurse, front desk and the kitchen staff, the dining room, the activities director, it's the same thing. It's never negative. It's a really good place. The staff is excellent.

I live at Atria Kennebunk. It's assisted in some ways, but I don't have any one-on-one care. It's all in one place. I go down for dinner. It's a very comfortable setting. I've looked at other places before I came here, and this is much more of a home kind of feeling and you feel safe because it's got the security doors and stuff. I just like having socialization because I was kind of isolated at my house. I've been involved in a lot of the activities and I'm trying to jump into it full force. Every day, I do one or two exercise classes, stretching, meditation, and they have movies most afternoons in the theater. There's a lot of music entertainment, people come in, and last week, we had seven ukulele players come in and do an hour of entertainment. Every Wednesday afternoon, we have happy hour, and that usually involves music and something to eat and drink and just socialization. I played cornhole for the first time since I've been here and do that with the guys. I did bingo. I try to participate in several things a day just to keep busy. I have had all positive experiences. The staff really go out of their way to really help you. I'm in a wheelchair and physically, other than trying to get to and from places quickly, for the most part, they come in once a week and they do housecleaning. In the dining room, they know you well enough that they practically know what you're going to order. They really pay attention. The nursing staff is lovely and answers any questions we have, like I've been pestering them about getting vaccinations and stuff like that. In the front desk, it's kind of like when you walk into a hotel. There's a person at the desk and all my visitors can ask them questions and come get me. It's more like hotel living really. This is much more upscale than others. The food is excellent. Usually, noontime and suppertime, you have two offerings of entrees. If you don't want either one of those, there's a menu that you can choose from that they always have on hand. I haven't had one that I didn't particularly care for. Breakfast is across the board, whatever you want, you can get. The meals vary, so technically four offerings a day, two at lunch and two at supper. There's always either soup and salad and a dessert of the day. You can pick other things if you don't happen to care for that. It's been lovely. It's like going to a restaurant almost. It's so nice and always super clean. It's got a nautical theme going because we're near the ocean and it's decorated very tastefully, but not too frou-frou. It's more like a nice, comfortable home, with a big lobby where we have big meetings and entertainment and everybody comes together. A lot of times we hang out there as groups, too. It's a light yellow building that's got big pillars and nice front porch, and I said to my sister, "This looks like you're coming home," not an institution. We spend a lot of time sitting outside on the patio. It's been really nice. They have the transportation van that takes us out on a weekly tour or you can go shopping or go to the grocery store or the doctors. You can get as interested and involved as you want and need. I have a sister that's in another assisted living, and she pays a lot more than I do here. It's expensive when you think of what you're paying a month, but considering what hotels cost these days and you're getting three meals a day and you're getting entertainment, I think value for money is five stars.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents are at the Atria Kennebunk. It's a wonderful community. The thing that I like the most as a family member is they're so responsive. When I call and need something or need information, each individual staff member at different times has just gone the extra mile to make my life easier. They're very caring of my parents. They really care. They do little things like on their anniversary, they brought them roses. It's just really nice. They are together in an apartment. My mom needed help and my father didn't want her going anywhere without him. They've been married 75 years, so we selected Atria because it was a place that would allow them to live together, even though she needed a little bit of assistance. As time has gone by, she's needed a little more assistance. Their level of care is graded also which is nice. The transition has been really nice. The facility is really nice. You don't feel like you're walking into a nursing home, you feel like you're walking into an apartment building. My mom often thinks it's a hotel because there's someone that greets her at the desk. They're clean, and they're accessible. They have an apartment, so they've got the bedroom with a little kitchenette. It's not a dangerous kitchen because there's no stove. It has a microwave and a small refrigerator, so it's perfect for their needs. They have different kinds of activities. My father does one activity every month. They have exercise programs, movies, and barbecues periodically. Now that the COVID restrictions have stopped, they have the bus that takes people on rides. While my mom was in a nursing home a mile and a half away, Atria staff went out of their way to help. My father wanted to visit her every day and she was there for almost five weeks and there was only one day that he wasn't able to go. They go above and beyond. So many different people took turns just giving him a ride so that he wouldn't have to go a day without seeing her. My father says the food is good and the waitresses and everybody are so nice and go out of their way. If my mother doesn't feel well and he's bringing her lunch back, they always make sure she has a dessert, too. They have a wide range of activities. The music is good. They have performers sometimes. They do activities with residents who want to. They encourage them, but they don't push them, which is really good. It's a reasonably priced place for the level of service that they get. I was down there at least twice a week, different times of the day, and I saw different staff members just consistently helpful and caring. Recently, I had a situation where I needed to get some stuff to my mother. I called just to see if there was a way for somebody to help out and also have them just check some supplies and instead they went and found the supplies and said, "You're all set." That's when I wrote an email to the executive director and said it was such a relief to me.

From the Management in Marketing, the Business office and Nursing, along with their staff; you will find some of the most caring and genuine individuals you will ever work with. They are truly interested in their residents and , their families. They readily answer questions, and even pose some of their own to insure you get the support that your loved ones need. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. The facility itself is attractively decorated and beautifully maintained. I feel my family member is well cared for, happy and safe.

I visited this facility

I was able to tour Atria Kennebunk for my dad, the place was wonderful. It was a newer facility. I met several of the clients that reside there, and they all were happy. They had a butterfly presentation while I was there visiting, so they had numerous activities. They have a couple of chefs on staff, I was able to try their cookies, which were wonderful. They had a large and open dining area, and I reviewed the menus that they have there. For each meal, they have certain foods, but if you don't like what's being served, you can pick anything off the menu. The staff is even still sending me messages and communicating with me. It's a very nice facility.

Our experience with Atria Kennebunk has been very good. The facility is very clean and the staff is very accommodating. My mom is in a studio apartment and the layout is very satisfactory for the size. They have field trips, exercise days, Bible study, music, and crossword puzzles. They also have those community-type events like pizza parties and cookouts. They take them out to shopping centers to do the shopping and to doctor appointments. They have a beauty salon, a whirlpool tub area, and a library associated with the local town library that rotates some books in and out.

Provider Response

Hello John, We're thrilled to have your mother call our community home. Our staff takes pride in going above and beyond, so thank you for sharing your experience.

Atria Kennebunk. We liked it all, everything was fantastic. It was very neat, very upkeep. The grounds were good. The people we talked to were fantastic, the rooms were clean, the model rooms she showed us were very good. Everything was good about it. There's nothing negative. The staff was very knowledgeable about everything we asked, about the financing and everything. They do have a barbershop, beauty salon and the daily singalongs and stuff like that were very nice. My father-in-law is moving there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a resident of Atria Kennebunk. We moved in November in the midst of the Covid pandemic, and here has become our haven in the storm. The results and the fact that we had no cases here at Atria was a tribute to the staff and to our care during the Covid pandemic. We also could not have had a smoother transition to assisted living than we received here. The staff and residents really have become one big family to us. We have been most impressed and realized that this was the best decision that we've had in our retirement years.

We moved into Atria Kennebunk. The food is very good, very tasty, and has a great variety. The only problem with it now is because of COVID-19, we have to eat in our room, and they deliver it to us three times a day. The staff is excellent, very nice people, very friendly, I won't say doting exactly, but close. The apartment is a little small, but otherwise good. The layout is good. I have no complaints. It's got a lot of apartments, and it has three floors. There's an elevator if you need it and stairs as well, but most people use the elevator, 'cause most people are handicapped.

Provider Response

Jim, We're thrilled to have you part of the Atria family. Thank you for your support of us throughout the pandemic, and thank you for sharing your feedback.

I visited this facility

I liked Atria Kennebunk very much. It's on one level, it's convenient to where I live, and the people seemed very nice. The facility was clean and new looking. I think it would be a good fit for us. When you look at it in person, it's even better than the virtual tour that they gave me. It's a very high-end place, and it's out of our price range. They wanted $7700, and I think they're going to raise that amount, and that's for a shared room. The staff was absolutely wonderful, and the man in-charge was helpful and nice. The building itself looked perfectly fine, nice, clean, and quiet. The residents looked happy, so I felt very comfortable there.

Provider Response

Thank you for visiting with us. Please don't hesitate to reach out again if we can support you in your search for senior living.

Atria Kennebunk is nice, clean, and very new-ish. The people get along well and are very attentive. Everything you need is there, and there are always people around. They always go down to the sitting room and watch TV or talk. Mom doesn’t spend so much time in her room anymore. They serve three meals a day and have entertainment come in to talk to them or sing for them.

I visited this facility

Atria was very nice, somber, very clean, and opulent. The staff was very courteous and very friendly. The residents we met were definitely older than my mother by probably 10 years. They were more sedate, and not a lot were out in the common areas. My mother didn't like that the residents had an allotted time for meals, and she didn't know the residents, which made her a little uncomfortable.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My aunt is in Atria, literally down the street, so I'm familiar with it -- very, very much. It was a better fit for my aunt than the place she was before. The food is absolutely outstanding. You can get cooked to order food for breakfast. At lunch, there is a choice of at least 2 entrees, usually 3. If you don't want the entrees, there's always soup, salad, and sandwiches, so very extensive menu choices, and dinner is usually a lighter fare but still has a lot of choices. They have fairly regular activities. The mini bus is scheduled for certain days to go banking or for groceries, and then on certain days, they can reserve it for doctor's appointments and that's a free deal. They have a beauty salon, and she'll do both men and women's hair. They have a TV room on the first floor, and they use that for activities and so on. They have a separate room with TV, puzzles, and activities on the second floor, and they have laundry rooms on each floor. The lobby has just been done over with all brand new fixtures, chairs, flooring, carpeting. It's absolutely beautiful. I have seen the 2-bedrooms, which I thought were reasonable, not huge but fine. My aunt lives in a studio, and it's a very adequate studio. It works for her. It's a nice layout. They have a nice little campus, very nicely landscaped. They have a patio so that if people want to go outside, there are chairs and tables, and they'll give them beverages if they wish to go outside. The staff is very helpful. My aunt cannot see well and so they literally lay out her clothes the night before. Housekeeping there is fine; they'll do that once a week. They do her laundry and I've seen other types of modest assistance with medicine management. It's independent but there is some assistance available. She has never been healthier. She has to walk from the end of the hallway down to get on the elevator to go downstairs then she goes out another corridor to get to her meals so that's 6 times a day. She's OK with that.

I think Atria Kennebunk is a top-notch facility. The dining hall is like going to a café restaurant where you sit down, order from a menu, and somebody will come and serve you. You can select want you want. The assisted living is very nice, comfortable, and very homey. The staff are very friendly. We happened to know the head nurse, so that was nice. She is very informative and assessed my mother-in-law on what she could do for her. She was very helpful in the placement of my mother-in-law at Atria. The staff keeps in touch with you. They call you constantly if there is any kind of issue to make sure that you are aware of what is going on and get some guidance from you on anything that they should do dealing with her care. I highly recommend them.

Atria Kennebunk was comparable with the other facility. My mother would have been happy at either place if she were ready to move. They were both very good. The staff at Atria was very attentive and very friendly. The dining room was a beautifully accommodating, comfortable, family-friendly kind of nice atmosphere.

I did not really respond to Atria Kennebunk. Physically, it just felt a little more like a hotel and it didn't feel as cozy and congenial as the other facility. I just didn't get the same vibe. I could not really get my mind around my in-laws living there. However, the facility seemed clean and fine. Also the staff was very friendly and very accommodating.

Lil, the woman who showed us around, was very helpful and knowledgeable (prices, specials that they were offering at the time, staffing and resident numbers, activities, meals etc.). We had a long list of questions and they were all answered calmly (not an agitated and hurried pace that we experienced elsewhere). The community was well kept (grounds and pathways, common rooms, laundry areas, dinning area). There were friendly residents and staff at every turn. My sister and I came away feeling that our Mum would be welcomed, comfortable and watched over in their caring community.
