Brookdale Memorial City is a beautiful location and the people have been wonderful. The staff is excellent. My friend's room is good, nice, and clean. They take very good care of the property. I had a lettuce salad when I was there, and everything that I had was very fresh and very tasty. It was just a small amount, but it was very good. They have a lot of amenities. They have a pool, a workout room, a salon, a little grocery store, and other activities. They also have transportation to doctor's appointments and other places. I think they have a doctor that visits and a pharmacy, so they really have everything that you need right there. They take care of their residents. I've met some of them and they've all been lovely people. They have their pets and they're very happy there. I think I met one the other day that's been there for 14 years.

My dad moved into Brookdale Memorial City. It is a nice place for him. It's the second time he's been in here, so he's really familiar with it. He got the apartment right next to the one he lived in last time. We chose it again because they have a really good staff there. They keep me informed of what's going on in the daily activities they have. Also, if the time comes when my dad needs a little more help, he can still get it here. He's got a one-bedroom apartment, which is really nice. It has a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, and a bedroom. They have different floor plans. You could get a studio or a two-bedroom apartment. I know they have four different areas in between the park. One had a gazebo-type thing with tables and chairs around it, and another had a putting green. They also have a hair salon and a barber shop. They have various activities, like outings. They have a courtesy van that goes to the local stores like three or four times a week. They email me a copy of the menu for the week, and the meals are very nice.

I have moved into Brookdale Memorial City. What I liked the best is the price, the entrance is free, and the rent is cheap. The staff is okay, they could be better. The cleaning lady was supposed to clean the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room, and the bedroom. My apartment was messy because I had just moved in, and she only mopped the bathroom, she didn't clean the toilet. I have been there three weeks now, and they didn't do a very clean job. I had to clean the toilet myself. They have a lot of programs here, but I'm just too busy moving. I just had time for Tai Chi, but they have a lot of activities. I just don't have time to do them all right now. They provide food three times a day, except on the weekends when they provide food two times a day. The food can be better. The lunch is great, but the dinner is like fast food and it's not very nutritious. I like the lunches and the breakfast.

I was able to visit Brookdale Memorial City, it was more independent living. I liked everything about it. They had a pool, they had a library, they had exercises and activities, and a nice place. Their rooms were a nice size and the closets were great. I met several residents who were very happy, they talked to me, and encouraged me. I met the staff who were all very friendly. When I was there they had just finished an exercise class. They had a small store on the premises, which was nice. They were accommodating and willing to repaint, and I can have my choice of carpet or hardwood. They were just really friendly and helpful, and the location is good. There were grocery stores and drug stores and shopping nearby. My only concern is they did not offer assisted living, so I would hire outside help for that.

My mother-in-law will be moving into Brookdale Memorial City. They offer a kind of ala carte service. If you need extra assistance at some point, that will be available to her. So for her current state of things, this was appropriate because she'll have her social interaction activity program. The meals are included. If she wants to cook something, she can. My mother-in-law liked the layout of it. She had a view of trees, which she liked. The salesperson was very helpful, very nice, answered all the questions, and showed us the facility. We had lunch to make sure that the food was according to what my mother-in-law was expecting. The food was good. They have a menu where you can select some items. The dining rooms looked friendly, clean, nice, and not overly fancy, but not too basic. They were generous in the size of their closets. They keep everything well maintained and clean.

Brookdale Memorial City has more deals than its sister community. They had the same type of apartment models, but they included a little bit better pricing and incentives to go there. They invited us back to try the food, and they had three restaurants there that were called Ambassadors. They had lunch with us and it was very, very good. I was very impressed with the food and the ladies that were there had everything good to say about that location. In terms of the layout, it was made up of six different courtyards and each of the buildings was three stories. So it was not a high rise, but it wasn't a single floor either. The dining room was on the third floor, too, so it's a short walk to their food facility. It's just that there's not a lot of grass and shrubberies on the outside. They were very accommodating when I have questions. They had a one-time fee of $2500 which was a little less than its sister community. I felt that the facility was older, and it looked like they needed to do some renovations on some of the sites that I saw. I like the rooms that I saw. I looked at a 1-bedroom with a bath and a 1-bedroom with a study and a bath.
