I visited this facility

My mother-in-law will be moving into Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community. I think it's a little bit dated, but the people are very friendly. According to my wife, the rooms are a lot better at Sentinel than in a lot of other places, which is consistent with what my mother-in-law said, too. We just felt comfortable that the rooms were better. It's not as glitzy as some other places. The staff during the tour was very friendly and helpful. They're pretty good about taking residents to the store frequently and getting them out that way. I know they have certain other activities, but I didn't get into that too much.

Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community stood out in terms of the community feel and they had two spaces available that were twice the size of other places that we were looking for a reasonable price. So, it was like the right fit. It's not too expensive and fancy, but not too rundown. The people we talked to were very accommodating and friendly. There's usually a second-person fee for every month once my parents live there, but they gave them a deal where if they travel, they would waive the second-person fee. They didn't ask for that. They just offered. The menu looked really good. The smell from the kitchen was good and the dining room was beautiful.

My parents have moved into Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community. This was the community my mom liked the best. She liked that she had a small kitchen. They have beautiful scenery to look out at. All they see is the woods. They have housekeeping, they have meals, they have transportation, and they have assistance if they need it. They have activities, but my parents have been so busy unpacking they haven't had time to participate in anything yet. They've only had one meal there and they said it was very good. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. It's on 18 wooded acres, so it's got beautiful landscaping. It's friendly and welcoming. It's kept very well. It's very clean.

I have nothing good to say about Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community. It was rundown. Each person didn't control their own environment, as far as the heat and air conditioning. They turned the heat on in October. And if you get too hot, you have to turn on an external air conditioner to cool off the room, which seems ridiculous and wasteful to me. Every staff person I encountered seemed unhappy and complained about the various jobs they were performing and the activities they were doing. I don't think they were understaffed. It was just a very negative experience as far as the staff was concerned. They were the same price as the other facility. I saw two or three apartments, and they were all in horrible condition. The rooms were rundown and dirty. There were a lot of things that needed to be fixed. It smelled heavily of chemicals, like they might have put in a new carpet and painted it, and the toxic smell was overwhelming. Each apartment had a balcony or a patio. The balconies were filthy, and some of the screens were broken. The grounds in the back, where the residents would look out, were wooded, and they were pretty. The other residents looked out onto the parking lot, and it was okay. Many of the residents were lined up and ready to have their meals. They were sitting there on their chairs or walkers, and they just looked miserable, and nobody looked happy. It made an impact on me, and I knew I didn't want my mom there. The dining room had a vaulted ceiling.

We did a tour of Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community, and we loved that one, but the cost is a little pricey for my mother-in-law. Sherry was the one that took us through, and she was awesome. We would not have minded moving my mother-in-law in there, but the cost was too much. The tour experience was a five, as well as the woman that gave us the tour. She was very good about calling back and asking if we had any questions, or if we had made a decision. She was wonderful. I liked their Main Street; they had a lot of nice little features there that we liked as well. The room that we saw was empty. We were able to go in, and the staff showed us a studio and a one-bedroom. The one-bedroom was not quite ready yet. So, it was the cost and the availability that led us to the other place we chose. It's also closer to us. We're the primary caretakers and we're six miles away, that makes a big difference. There would be somebody that would come in and do housekeeping and whatnot. There was somebody watching a football game, and we saw people sitting in a community area, visiting, which was very nice. There were people watching a movie. They had a nice theater room that was awesome. I think my mother-in-law would have enjoyed that. It was close to a bathroom, and that was handy for older people. We didn't go outside. The staff showed us a big model. I thought it was very clean, and it would be a fun place to live. They had a lot of little different things that I thought would be fun. They had a little cafe, and they had the whole idea of the Main Street. There were pictures on the wall that would relate to her working downtown back in the fifties and sixties, which would be nice for her.

Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community seems the most comfortable place. The staff seemed the nicest, as well as the location, and that all went together with a pretty reasonable price. The apartments are also quite nice. It seemed like a community instead of just a bunch of staff walking around. It is beautiful and it's in a nice spot along the woods. The menu looks good. There's a workout room, a library, and they've got healthcare people on the staff.

Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community was a very nice facility. You could tell walking in that the people that resided there, it wasn't all put on or fake. They actually enjoyed their surroundings. That was home to them. After all of them that we toured, that was the one that (even for myself) felt like home. You just felt comfortable there. The room has been paid for and set aside, and my friend is in the process now of packing up and planning to be in there. You don't have to relocate. If you go in and you're independent, but over time you need assistance, you can stay right where you're at. They'll just automatically take care of it. The staff during the tour knew his facilities and he knew his people. Everybody spoke to him, and the folks living there didn't know that we were coming. I read the menu and talked with the people there. They were just phasing back into dining room seating after having gone through the COVID period, so some of the folks were still taking their meals in their rooms while others were phasing back into the dining room area. Each room had a microwave. My friend's room in particular had a full-size refrigerator, full countertop, a kitchen sink, a balcony type porch, and exceptional views of the wooded area with a creek down below. He'll be starting out in the independent, and then over time, if he needs assistance, it'll just evolve into that, but he'll be able to keep the same room. He also has a vehicle, and so there's a carport for him to keep his car under for the winter. They have shuttles constantly all day long, there's a game room, library, woodworking/craft room, music room, and exercise room. Inside the facility there is also a beauty barbershop combination and a theater. They had a store that had all sorts of snacks, protein bars, crackers, cheese, pops, juices, and candy bars.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have lived at Sentinel Pointe for more than four years. To me, having a caring staff is the most important benefit of living here. It's impossible to overstate the excellence of our staff. Their dedication to our welfare is commendable and to my knowledge, unmatched. They have done a fantastic job of maintaining all our services during this period of COVID restrictions, supply shortages and other difficulties. While the culture of caring is paramount, it's also nice that the building and grounds are very attractive and well-maintained. Our apartments are nicely appointed and comfortable. They are also working very hard to resolve difficulties with food services. I have every confidence, they will succeed in restoring the level of services that set Sentinel Pointe apart from other residences.

The visit at Sentinel Pointe was a fantastic one. I really like that place. If my mom has to move, that would be my first choice. They showed me a room and they gave a tour of the facility. The staff member who gave me the tour was amazing. They showed me the dining area and laundry area for residents. They really took me through just about everything. I saw an apartment and they're enormous, much bigger than the ones I saw at another facility. I really, really like the place. The setting of the whole facility is kind of in the woods, so it's just scenic. Everything about it is beautiful. The dining was beautiful. They had a main restaurant, but then they also had a coffee bar kind of place if you didn't have to go to the dining room.

Sentinel Pointe is most likely the place that my mom is going to go. The next step is just getting the paperwork submitted and the application fee paid. Sheri was the one who gave us the tour. She has been there for about twenty years, so she has basically held a number of different roles there. The quality of her character and the knowledge that she had of the place made a large impression on us. As she walked around, she knew everybody. The residents who were in the hallway seemed very kind, gracious, and welcoming. There was a great sense of community there. I didn't notice anything that I didn't like. It seemed like a pretty normal, clean facility.

I loved Sentinel Pointe. The view was awesome. The amenities were spectacular. I loved everything about it. The rooms could be a little bigger, but I was very impressed with the facility. I would love for my parents to go there. The staff was wonderful. They have extended meal breakfast plans where they can have breakfast up until 11:00. They offered us beverages and a meal, and gave us guided tours around the whole facility. The place would just be too spread out for my parents.

I was able to visit Sentinel Pointe. The staff was excellent. They were all very friendly and willing to answer all my questions. I thought the amenities were top-of-the-line and very much in line with what other communities offer. The place is a little bit aged, but it has an excellent location. It is in a beautiful location and it has many options for the senior citizens, like activity options, daytrips, and contact with the staff. There is also more than one place and time to eat if residents choose not to cook.

My dad was a resident for over six years and he was so well cared for, made to feel like family, fed fantastically ( new chef is especially great!) . He had friends among the residents and the staff. He was happy and treated like a HUMAN who still had value , deserved and received respect and compassion. Recommend unequivocally.

The Sentinel Point was very nice. We viewed one of the newly refurbished apartments and it was very pleasing. They have a lot of services. They have a dining room which has a nice menu where people can choose to eat whatever they like. They have a barbershop, entertainment, they take the residents to places, and they even have a local grocery store that delivers food there for free. It was a very nice facility. It's independent living, but if you choose, you can have nurses that you can hire if you need further assistance.

I would say Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community was tired, but they're trying to update it. The rooms were off putting a little bit because it's a bit older. The staff was absolutely top-notch. The desire to serve was there, and you could feel it. There was such a very strong sense of community among the staff and the residents. They were trying to update the atmosphere of the dining place. The staff was so fabulous that they compensated for the tiredness of the place.

Sentinel Pointe is beautiful, nice, and close to me. The people are wonderful, a great place. The staff is very nice, helpful, and so friendly. They have a van that would take them to appointments, shopping, or grocery stores. They have laundry services and religious services, and they change my mom's sheets every week. They have bus trips like to the casinos, nature park reserves, and the food is really good. So far so good, and my kids are really happy too.

Sentinel Pointe has got just about anything that I needed. I can still remain independent basically. Most of the stuff that I needed -- doctor’s appointments or whenever I want to go to the grocery stores or to some kind of night out, they are probably willing to get me there. They had a nice health program for keeping your mind and body active. They don’t charge for things that many of the senior communities charge for such as the meals because those are included in your rent -- all 3 meals a day, so we don’t have to even worry about groceries unless you decide you want extra. They have their own little store right there in the building where you can get personal items. The staff really makes an effort to know everybody by name and to tell you almost anything. They don’t have a high turnover; they have had the same staff working there for years, and really it is a mission and not just a job, which really impressed me too. It is a nice location, There is a nominal fee if you want to have food delivered to your room, and they have ample areas for family to come and visit. It is also a good price.

Sentinel Pointe offers all meals and transportation everywhere. A person can age in place with most medical care, and you pay by level. It's a very lovely, open, and well-kept facility with very friendly, positive people. My friend has a very large one-bedroom apartment. They have studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms. The grounds are lovely, well kept, and surrounded by forests. My friend is very happy with the food. They offer three meals with open dining so they can choose their time to eat. I would highly recommend it, and their pricing was exceptionally competitive with everyone else we looked at.
