We toured the Holiday Atrium at Gainesville. The facilities weren't updated. The apartments were nice and roomy. The prices were good, but we just didn't feel comfortable there. The person giving us the tour was very nice. We did eat there, and the food was worse there. It just wasn't good at all. Even the desserts were bad.

I toured the Holiday Atrium at Gainesville. The location was very good and the staff was friendly. Everybody was helpful but I didn't like the fact they did not have a washer and dryer. Their washer was down on the first floor and they had five floors. The staff was very nice and checked back with me to see if I was interested.

Holiday Atrium at Gainesville is very nice, clean, and friendly. I think it's the best choice. I saw some art classes and the library. The staff seemed very friendly, very helpful, and very knowledgeable about how things would go.

I was so impressed with the Holiday Atrium at Gainesville that I didn't need to look any further. I was impressed with the price and I was impressed with the care and length of how long these independent care workers have worked at this facility. That was the most important thing to me, and the cleanliness of it and the community just took me away. I've gone through so many different places here in The Villages and my brother-in-law moved from one facility to another, but this one tops them all. The independent care is the best, but the actual place, the beauty of it when you walk in the door and see the community, just mingling and how everybody treated everybody, how they knew each person by name and what their status was and what they were going to do for today and their routine, was just precious. I loved it. They are upgrading the place right now, too. They have lots of activities. They have concerts and meetings. It's just very well communicated and they have lots of things for people to do and I just loved it.

I moved into the Holiday Atrium at Gainesville. It's a little on the large side. It's a five-story building, though. Quite a few people here. The staff is extremely helpful, and very attentive. It's very comfortable. It's like being in a grand hotel. The rooms are large, and very accommodating. Their food was delicious. The only problem I had was I didn't realize that I could get more of that in a sitting. The dining area is very large and adequate. I don't get into too many activities or too much going around. That's why I like that it's independent living. It's not assisted where you constantly have somebody around. They've just been refurbished and everything is fresh paint, new carpet, new flooring. It's more reasonable than the other places I looked at.

Holiday Atrium at Gainesville was very impressive. The floor plans were cool. They had plenty of activities. The property was well-maintained and the people were friendly and outgoing. They had a water aerobics class going on. There are craft rooms where people can get together. If one lady knows how to crochet, she can teach others. Meals are provided. Transportation is provided to shopping nearby. It was very nice. We did check their dining area. The food looked good on the menus, but you could make your own. You've got your own kitchenette. The apartments were well laid out, and efficient. The use of space was very good. Some of the units included a closed-in balcony. The two bedrooms had a central room and a bedroom off either side with a bathroom and plenty of closet space. They were nice. The staff was very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable.

I am moving into Holiday Atrium at Gainesville. I liked the price and I'm going into a 2-bedroom apartment. The layout was very nice and it was very accommodating. I just liked the facilities in general, it was all very nice. The girl who was assisting me was a real sweetheart. She was really helpful and very nice. I did look at the menu and I got a good look at the dining facilities, and they looked very nice. They had workout facilities, a swimming pool, a big library, and a game room.

I went to Holiday Atrium at Gainesville. The staff was very, very helpful and very nice. When I first went in, I was not impressed because it's very old, and I thought, 'I don't think so. This is very old.' Then I found out they were rehabbing it starting from the top floor. And then when I went up and saw the size of the apartment and what they had done to it like the painting and the new carpeting in the rooms, I was very impressed. The staff Megan who helped me did a very good job. She took me up there. She showed me everything. She showed me the library. They have laundry on each floor. They also offer laundry service if you need it. They offer three meals a day. They clean your apartment once a week. I was just very impressed when I saw the actual apartments. The main floor will be redone also, so that will change when they get all that rehabbed. All in all, I was very pleased. She just took me around and showed me the laundry on each floor, the library, and the dining room. The meals are scheduled at a certain time. I was very impressed with the place, that's why I decided to move there. I feel the price was good, and the people were very nice. I already made some friends just walking around. The people were very friendly.

We toured Holiday the Atrium at Gainesville. The staff was great. The rooms were on the smaller side, but adequate. All the units were housed in one large building. We saw a two-bedroom apartment. They had sitting rooms, television rooms, and activity rooms. The lady who toured us was very knowledgeable. She informed us of all the activities that they had there. The place is very large.

Holiday The Atrium at Gainesville was very nice. They had a little exercise room and they were a full staff. The people were very nice, very cordial, and very helpful. They welcomed me and my sister, and we both enjoyed the tour very much as well as the lunch. The food was very tasty. They have a nice varied menu and it seems to be geared to being very healthy. They also showed me a room, which was very nice. I liked it.

I visited Holiday The Atrium at Gainesville a few months ago and it seemed very nice. It's a good possibility. I like the room sizes. I would probably pick a one-bedroom. I like the fact that it has kind of a swimming pool and a spa. I like the food. The dining area looked very nice and they had some activities that we could do during the day. It looks like they have good help there. It's pet friendly and that's a big deal. I have a big German Shepherd. Some of the places that I've asked around said she's too big, but it looks like they would take her and that'd be nice. They also have a gym area and exercise equipment that you can use. It's a pretty inclusive type of place. They have a little library and they have activities. That would be a good place to move to. The person during the tour was nice, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The room seemed very nice, organized, and big, so it would work out for me. It had a nice big refrigerator and a kitchen-type thing. Somewhere in there, they also have a laundry room, but not in the apartment.

We were very impressed with the facilities offered by The Atrium at Gainesville. They were beautiful and the residents seemed very happy. They were very friendly and the tour guide, Jeremy, gave us all the information we needed to know. So, the tour went very well. The studio apartments were small but efficient. The one-bedroom apartments were very clean, very spacious, and would be just like having a condo apartment (which what I liked). They also had a library, a beautiful atrium where they go and sit out in the sun, and they are pet-friendly. They had a restaurant-style area where they go for their meals, a movie theater, laundry facilities, physical therapy, and a lot of activities (some come in from the outside). They have a veterans group of men that get together and a beautiful Olympic-sized pool that's heated year-round. Their menus also looked very good. They provide you with hree meals a day and snacks. They had iced tea, lemonade, and coffee available during the day in the atrium.

My mother-in-law is in The Atrium at Gainesville independent living. I'm not too familiar with the community in general, but when I took her there to move in and everything, the staff was very helpful. The ladies named Rene and Zaley and also the receptionist were very kind and considerate. She likes all three of them. The rest of the staff were very helpful in showing her around too. They also showed her how to interact with the community, and showed her all of the different programs that were available like the laundry facilities, and the hair and nails facilities. Someone's helping her find doctors and taking her around to get things she needed from different stores. She liked it. The community in general talked to her and welcomed her. It was a friendly environment. It's kind of hard for her to like people and people to like her but she likes the people there and she seems to be happy. She moved in from the state of Washington and her belongings were in transit with the movers and were delayed. The facility allowed her to stay in a hospitality suite until her belongings came in so that she didn't have to sit in an empty room. That was very considerate and thoughtful for the community to do. It's not a 5-star kind of facility but it's clean and they take good care of it. They did some renovations on it. The food is not gourmet but it's decent. She's not as impressed but it's not bad either.

The Atrium at Gainesville was a beautiful facility. It's nicely done and they have everything that you could want and my sister would need. It was nicely appointed. As the name implies, there is an atrium in the center of the main building. They have spokespeople coming often. It's four or five levels that go to the individual apartments or the one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. At various levels, they have other amenities. They've got a small gym, a beauty parlor, and places for physical therapy. On the outside, they have a pool and a shuffleboard court. There's outside parking. You can get covered parking, not a garage, for a slightly additional cost per month, which is assigned. Other than that, the places seemed extraordinarily well kept. The people I met were very nice and very caring. The staff during the tour was really nice and very helpful. We weren't there at the appropriate time for meals. They offered us water when we needed it, but we didn't stop for meals. They didn't have any activities in progress, but they had lots of stuff up on the bulletin board. They organize weekly trips to shows, movies, restaurants, things of that nature, all community-oriented. You sign up for them and it appeared very nice. They were in the process of retrofitting the central atrium area where they typically would have local bands or things of that nature. It's certainly large enough to have a community show. When they finished that renovation, it's another nice place to have events. I didn't get an opportunity to meet most of the staff. I met the lady at the front door and a few of the occupants. They allow you to have small dogs. A lot of people were out walking their dogs. It was great. For the money, I think it was an extraordinarily good opportunity for those people that are attuned to the community lifestyle and independent living. It's a perfect fit, in my opinion. If I was looking, I'd live there.

I did a tour of The Atrium at Gainesville. It was lovely. We looked at two different areas and different choices for a single person; it was perfect. It was a little bit higher than what I have, so I'm talking to realtors to make up the difference. The studio was very nice, and there's one that we didn't get a chance to look at that and are going back. It had a little bit more area. For what I'm wanting, I would probably choose the 1-bedroom because it was a little more room; it just seemed a little nicer because it was a little bit bigger. I would be happy with the studio as well; it's all very nice. I can bring my little dog, which is a big plus. I have four dogs. My job was teaching art to children, and it was a wonderful job. I had to stop because of my health. Then I got very depressed, and I got this little puppy. She kind of saved me, and she sleeps with me. It is a huge plus that I can bring her. The staff were very accommodating, very nice, and very friendly. They said all the right things, they were very thorough in their presentation, and they were also very nice and understanding. I also I have a drawing thing that I did with the kids. They said if I would like to, I could teach that to the adults because it's something anybody can do. It's a very good activity to give your brain. They told me that they would be happy for me to teach a class on it. There are so many other things that you can do there. I'm an avid reader, and they had a very nice library; it's very well stocked. There was laundry on every floor. They have a swimming pool; I also taught swimming to children, so I would love a pool. There was everything there. They play cards too. Their food looked good. We went in during lunch, and the food looked good. The occupants of the dining room and the people always seemed very friendly with each other, and they smiled at us. They seemed happy there, and I think I would be too. The two girls that we met did a fine job. They were very accommodating and friendly. She walked a little faster than I do, but that's OK. It was great. I came away just very happy, and I told my friends (the couple) that took me. I said, "Buy a suitcase, I will be staying." It was just very nice. The food looked lovely, and it was a well presented. Everything was top notch everything that I saw and what we read in the brochure. They gave us schedules and the way they set up their meals. Everything just seemed like it just flows along like it's supposed to. I didn't see any problems at all with being there.

My sister, my mom and I visited this past week. Zaely gave us a tour and we met several staff members. Everyone was very friendly and kind; they were well informed and professional. We entered and there was an exercise class in progress and residents looked like they were enjoying their class. We spoke to several people who lived there and every person said they liked living there. Zaely was very friendly to the residents, as well. We did not eat while we were there but we did see the diiing room. The apartment we viewed was in the process of being updated. Mom liked the place, and we are in the process of making decisions. The staff seemed very caring.

My visit to The Atrium at Gainesville was very good. I really liked their concept, and the rooms were nice. I saw a one-bedroom and a studio. They have a bathroom, a full kitchen, and a closet. The two staff members I met there were very good. Zailey was the one who gave the tour, and then I met Michael at the desk when I checked in. They were both very knowledgeable about the facility. The building is just old. I have been in Gainesville for forty years, and I know it has been around for forty years at least, but it still looks nice.

I only interacted with the sales rep, so it was nice and it's clean.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My wife and I are staying at The Atrium in Gainesville. At the present time, it doesn't look like we're moving anywhere else. We chose it for its architecture. It's a 5-story building and the construction is appealing. It's also convenient for shopping. We've been here for quite a while. We've been looking around for some place else, but it doesn't look like there's any other place that's better than this one. Some of the staff are great, some are not so great. Most of them try hard, some of them don't, but I think that's the usual thing. The rooms are fine, but it's the location that really got us. We can't find any place else that is as well located, both for shopping and for doctor needs. The food is average, but it is an excellent building.

Avoid this place - it is not a good place to retire. It once was good, but has declined in service and food quality over the past two year and is now a bad deal for the money they charge. Staff are noted for disrespect and rude treatment of residents. It is not really an independent living facility as claimed, at least in the kind of residents they accept. Many people with advanced dementia and other problems. But there is not enough staff to take proper care of them. The Atrium once had a good reputation, but it has gone so far downhill that it has lost its good rating. Stay away!

I toured The Atrium at Gainesville in person. I met some people that stay there. The tour was nice but it's very old and kinda rundown. The reason we didn't choose Atrium is because it's just independent. If you fall or break a hip, or you have a stroke and need more care, you're out. You can't stay there and you have to find another place to live. The staff weren't up the par. They didn't answer all the questions. They're not very informative. Actually, they weren't allowing anyone eating in the dining room at that time. People had to eat in their rooms because of Covid.

We had a virtual and in-person visit at The Atrium at Gainesville. They're handling things beautifully. We've been very happy so far. They're very attentive to our mother. Nobody can go anywhere because of the pandemic so she has to stay in her room most of the time, but they've been great about communicating. I haven't had a bad experience yet. It's very clean. There are no activities. They closed down the dining area for a while. When they were in their highest stage, they didn't even knock on their doors. They just delivered food to the residents. The residents weren't allowed to come out. They took all the chairs away, so they couldn't congregate, but they just now opened up a tiny bit of that. They couldn't dine in the dining hall, but now a few residents can make reservations. It's a very limited dining experience. The staff has been great. She seems to like the food, although it's the same as in the rehab. It's not fair to rate them on that because it's a pandemic and they can't have a restaurant open, so they can only serve one thing.

I like The Atrium at Gainesville very much. I like the pool, the size of the rooms, the large studio, and their one-bedroom. The people working there are nice, and the majority of the people that I met who are living there are fantastic people. However, I'm not too impressed with the chef. I have had two meals there and I wasn't too impressed with them. Other than that I really like the place. I need a place to swim to get my strength back. They also have machines you can use to work out, and a professional pool table. It's a really nice place.

My dad has moved into The Atrium at Gainesville. It is fine. I haven't had any complaints and he seems to be happy. I think he'd rather be home, but things seem to be going well. His apartment is clean and set up nicely. He eats in their dining room, and their food is fine. He hasn't complained. They offer bus service that will take you to doctor's appointments, they have social gatherings, they have a garden, and they have church services. They try to keep the residents engaged. However, some of the things are not quite set up for people with walkers and wheelchairs.

We liked The Atrium at Gainesville for my father-in-law. It's very nice. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and great. They had a whole activities calendar and lots of different things for them to do. The accommodations were very nice, good sized, and very homey; you feel like you're in an apartment, not a senior living facility. The dining area was beautiful. They had outside areas, a pool with a pool house, a big area in the center for parties and activities, they do tailgates for football games, there's dancing at night, and social hours. It's a very active community.

The Atrium at Gainesville was very nice and everyone there seemed happy. There were a lot of people outside and down in the halls, instead of hiding in their apartments. It was clean, nice to look at, and very inviting. The apartment that they showed us was very nice. It's a place I could live in if I needed to. The one staff member that I saw was very nice and helpful, and answered all the questions that we had. All I know about their services is what they say they have. Everything sounded excellent.

I agree with Fredsmom. Once the 6 months is up, rent is raised , You will end up paying 500-600 PER WEEK. Rent is Over 2,000 month No one around at night. Elevators are small, SLOW, broken. Always putting notes on your door asking for Christmas money. With the amount you pay, you DO NOT get back the value. People knocking on door, staff comes in with key any time. View the back parking lots.. FOOD, no words on that mess. No words. If they know you coming to look, they do a stage, a show. Really think about it before going here.

Provider Response

Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Place is a disaster waiting to happen. No manager or maintenance on premises at night. So many what ifs? These seniors would be at a loss. What if a fire? Those that could even hear the fire alarm would have no one there to direct them on what to do. Food is horrible. Presentation is unflattering and everything is prepared with tons of onions and peppers! Do not recommend for anyone!!

The Atrium at Gainesville was a Holiday property that was a lot older, big, and nice. They had a swimming pool and large rooms. The cabinets were a little bit dated, but they had a lot of storage in the rooms. The residents were coming and going and seemed to be very independent and very happy. Physicians can come in, like a toe doctor comes in every two weeks, which is great; a urologist comes in once a quarter, and a heart doctor comes in once a month. They had a special room for the physicians with a desk, a table, and an exam table. You could also get a ride to your own doctor.

I really liked The Atrium at Gainesville, but my mother-in-law needed more care than they were prepared to give. They had activities like bingo and musicians. They also had an exercise room and a little store that was open for limited hours where you could get things like toothpaste and candy. I felt that the residents were very happy there. They seemed to be friendly and out and about, not stuck in the rooms, and the staff members we met were very nice. We had a good lunch there.

Not all that,- needs lots care.. Food is really in poor taste and quality. Rent goes up ALWAYS. Back parking lot is dirty, Elevators smell's and very small, elevators OFTEN do not work, No manger on site after hours, no security. Could do a lot better for the amount of rent.

The Atrium at Gainesville is upbeat, and I think that’s what my parents need right now. It was real friendly, and everybody was excited to be there. They had lots of things to do. Every time I went there, the old folks were doing a lot of stuff and having a great time. The staff that I saw and talked to while I was there was wonderful. We went with a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, and it was newly painted, very clean, and had fresh carpet. We couldn’t have asked for a better 2-bedroom, 2-bath for my parents. I’m only 15 minutes away. If there’s a problem, I’m very close by. They did show me the menus, and they looked very good.

The Atrium at Gainesville's apartments were very nice. They probably had the most outdoor activities of any of the communities I’ve been to. They took a group of us on a tour and ended the tour with lunch, so they kept the dining room open for us when everybody else had eaten and gone to other activities. It was a nice size and very well appointed. The food was good, and service was very fast. There were only 17 of us, so we almost had a waiter each. They had a good variety with everything from salad to pasta and shrimp and anything in between.

For the age group that they were dealing with, the activities were adequate. There didn’t seem to be any actual physical activities other than the swimming pool, so there might be some needs for some additional physical activities.

We visited The Atrium at Gainesville, and it was very nice. It was great. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were nice, and it was reasonable, but the only thing is, all of Mom’s doctors are in Jacksonville, so she would have to change all her physicians to go to Gainesville. I really don’t want to do that. Nevertheless, I told my sister I wouldn’t mind living there. They had lot of activities going on while we were there, and they even invited us for lunch. The cafeteria was nice, the room was very nice, and they had elevators. It was like a condominium-type thing. The Atrium at Gainesville was very nice.

Atrium at Gainesville was okay and average. The person there from marketing showed us around, and everything went smoothly. The pricing was reasonable. The rooms were adequate. This place is well worth a look.

I am/was a resident of this facility

We're at the Atrium at Gainesville, and we moved in last March. We have a two-bedroom unit with two bathrooms, huge walk-in closets, and a walk-in shower. Cable, phone service, electricity, and water are provided. We get three meals a day, and the food is pretty good. The chef is Puerto Rican, so you have to acquire a taste for a lot of pork and chicken. There are very few red meat items. They could improve on having a more diversified menu. There is an exercise room and a huge library. They have an activities board; you couldn't do all the activities in a month if you tried.

Atrium is excellent. I didn't have complaints at all. The rooms were very roomy and included a bathroom. The salesperson was very nice. They had the best value compared to other facilities. The location was good and very convenient.

The last place we visited was The Atrium at Gainesville, which is where my mother-in-law would stay for three months. They were the least expensive and willing to let her try to stay there for three months. They supply three meals a day. It’s a very clean place, but I think it was built back in the '80s, so it was kind of dated. The apartments were of a nice size, but the kitchens were old.

I visited Atrium and I thought it was really nice. The rooms were small, nice and comfortable. They had a little kitchenette. They had and exercise room. They had a day room where they played cards, a pool room and nice dining room.

I had a friend who lived at The Atrium for a couple of years. It was a nice community with a lot of people. The staff seemed to be very caring. I didn’t spend extended time there, but I appreciated the fact that they tried to find interesting things for the residents to do and think about. My friend was in a small, private room that seemed to have all that she needed at the time. Overall, she found everyone there friendly, and she liked it while she was there.

We were impressed with the activities and the nice facilities at the Atrium of Gainesville. They have outside activities; they take you on a bus, and they take you to see different places. Everybody was very friendly.

I visited The Atrium at Gainesville. It was absolutely gorgeous. The complex itself was beautiful. There was a little shopping there of toiletries and food. They had everything you could possibly need without leaving the grounds. I did have lunch there, and the food was delicious. The place was really great, but I did not choose it. For me, the unit was smaller. It was a one-bedroom, one-bath. You don't have a washer/dryer inside the unit.

We went to The Atrium at Gainesville ,and the place was very nice. The rooms were very nice, but it wasn’t for us. I would call it a retirement community more than an assisted living facility. The dining area was nice, but it was small. It just didn’t have a homey and comfortable feeling to it. They didn’t have the facilities that I had wanted for my husband; he has Alzheimer's.

My mom is at Atrium at Gainesville. We chose this place because it gave her more independence as she wanted that. They cook excellent meals. The apartments were very nice. They have call bells if anything happens. They have a plethora of activities. They have a swimming pool, and they do aquatic activities. They have entertainment. They also have buses, and they go to the malls in the area.

We did find and put a deposit down in the Atrium today. My sister is not getting it until October 1st. It was affordable, and it looked nice. She's going to have a large studio apartment. The staff was nice and gave us all the information we needed. Meals are included. The food is very good. I like the location.

I was able to visit Atrium of Gainesville when I was looking for an assisted living facility for my mom. It's a nice facility and there was nothing I didn’t like about them. Their rooms are of nice size. The staff were really knowledgeable with regards to the facility. I am not really familiar with the names of the activities, but they do have several activities that is on their board that you can choose from.

My parents chose this place so we went there. The staff, food and rooms were fine. They're friendly. It was an open environment out in the common area. It was very nice and they have larger rooms available. My parents were very pleased with it. It's a pleasant place.

My mother-in-law is really happy at Atrium Gainesville. We were surprised because of course nobody wants to move. She has a 1-bedroom apartment. She just needed having somebody cook her meals and knowing that somebody was around 24-hours a day in case she fell. But other than that, she doesn't need any assistance. It's really nice. If you don't want what's being served, there's enough variety from the menus, so you're not getting the same thing every day. However, their swimming pool is not really clean and their hot tub is so nasty. They use the swimming pool for exercise class. It should be cleaner. But that's the only thing. I've been really happy with it, so is my mother-in-law. We were concerned about her because she slowed down physically. But the physical therapy there is wonderful and that really improved her stamina.
