The tour I had at Truewood by Merrill, Fig Garden was wonderful. They showed us three apartments, which was terrific. We were able to have lunch there, and the food was good. The residents that I was able to communicate with were all very positive and were happy to be there. I only looked at one-bedroom apartments and they were spacious and clean. You can furnish them to your taste. The staff was wonderful.

My mother has moved into Truewood by Merrill Fig Garden. She really likes it there. It is nice. It is a good fit for her. She likes the independence, and she likes that she can socialize with others in her age group. The activities are really good and helpful for her to get more involved. Everyone is super friendly. Everything is provided for her, like the transportation and the meals. The food is really, really good. She hasn't complained about any of the food. There is the independence of her having her own unit and the camaraderie of talking with others in her age group. There is the shuttle that gets her to Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, or wherever she needs to go. It is a really, really a good fit for her. My mother is in a studio. It's spacious, and it has a little kitchenette. It has a living room area and her bedroom area. Even though it's all open, it still feels big enough. It's not cramped, and it feels like separate rooms. There is just enough space for her. They have studios. My mother is in a larger studio. They have one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. The only thing that I can say is that the furniture is really outdated, and the carpets need to be cleaned. The place is clean, but it seems outdated. The staff is really, really nice. They give them a menu every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's like two-options that they can select from. For lunch and dinner, it's salad or soup, the main entree, and the dessert. The desserts they often have listed on the menu are normally not the desserts that they bring out. That is a room for improvement, but it's really, really good. We have been there and ate with Mom, too. There's no stove in any of the units. There is a small refrigerator, a sink, and a microwave that you need to bring in yourself. It's a little on the high side. Considering what they provide, they were the most affordable (even though their private pay is still on the higher end). My mom is in a studio. For what she is paying and what she is getting, it's a benefit to her. If she was to go into a one-bedroom, she probably couldn't afford it.

I toured Truewood by Merrill, Fig Garden. I had lunch there with Brian, their sales guy. It's a friendly crowd. The only problem there is they don't have any two-bedroom apartments available. They have not had a two-bedroom apartment available for two or three years, so they're kind of very well-established. That one isn't even a possibility. He was offering a one-bedroom next door to a small studio, and he said, "We could probably cut a door through that," and I was like, "No, no, no." Because we'd be paying for two apartments and we don't want to do that, and the food there was not very good. At any rate, I was glad that the vacancy issue settled it because he was so nice. That's often what sells the place is the person who you talked to. He seemed so pleasant. He was full of information. I know they have just recently changed hands and it's an older building, so they're in the process of doing some remodeling, but it wasn't done yet. So it was old looking. It just was not some place I thought, "Oh, wow, I really want to live there." They had nice grounds and an outdoor area.

The in-person tour at Fig Garden was very nice. We had one person who took us around to any area of the complex that we wanted to see, answered all our questions, and was attentive to us. Our first impression was that it is an aging complex. The dining area seemed very nice. But when we got into the other locations, you could tell that not all the rooms were up to date. Everything was clean. They were getting ready to do bingo at the time. There was evidence of other activities around that had happened, like painting classes. They had arts that the residents had done around the room. All of the facilities had very limited exercise rooms. So it was apparent to us that even in independent living, these were not for active people. It was definitely for people who were compromised on some level. The dining area was beautiful. Some upgrading of carpeting would be nice to freshen it up a bit. We didn't see any rooms of actual residents. We only saw empty rooms that were in the process of being refurbished for the next guest.

We toured Fig Garden and that was my favorite. We were looking for independent living at that time. I liked it a lot because it was very friendly, it' s homey, and the building itself just had a lot of character in it. The activities seemed well-attended and parking was available. Some of it is covered parking so you could still keep your car. The administration was very pleasant and very good about showing us all around. There was a call for bingo and people just flocked there. There was an area where people could go in and cook their favorite meal and dish, like cookies or whatever, and share it with everybody. There was a nice private spot for reading, like a little library. There was a nice outdoor walk and the residents just seemed very happy there. I was just not ready yet for that type of living but when I am, that is where I will go.

My father-in-law has been living in Fig Garden for three years now. It is a clean facility. They try to be very interactive with the adults. They do provide food service. It's a nice place to go if the individuals can be self-sufficient. It's a great place to go. They will bring meals to you, we provide someone to come in and help out at the place. It is a senior living facility. He's requiring more and more assistance and we're paying for people to come in and assist him and being this far away, it's kind of hard. They have a full calendar of activities, from painting, to dancing, to movie nights, to the rest. So he doesn't participate much in that, because he's getting older, and he's just not there. The food is good.

We felt comfortable at the Fig Garden. The people were down-to-earth more type of people. It wasn't posh or anything like that. We got to meet a lot of people and had a meal with them. It was just a nice introduction to the place. The food was very nutritious and very well-balanced. It was made for the seniors. The chef came out, spoke with us, and asked us how everything was. So in a lot of ways, it was just very accommodating. My husband found out that there is a veteran's law, which is nice because he's retired military. He met some of the veterans, and it seemed like it was a good fit for him. And it was a good fit for me because one of the ladies came out of her room, and she said, "Oh, I hope you move in.". So it was just kind of nice that people came up, and they were very accommodating. We saw a one-bedroom, and there were two different layouts. The larger one was a little bit too big, but the other one was just right. There was an activity room, a library, a pool table, a sitting area, a movie room, and all kinds of things. It was nice.

We went to Fig Garden yesterday for my friend. It was pretty nice, and we liked it. It was nice and clean, the people were all friendly in there, and they had quite a few different activities and stuff that they offered the clientele. The staff members were all nice and very helpful. The facility was very pretty.

I am in the process of moving in to Fig Garden. They have more to offer as far as the activities. They have a gym, arts and Bingo. I don't know really what all they have besides that, but that's what I can tell so far. They go to church sometimes. There's just more to do. They're very nice and very helpful. The food is delicious. I like just everything about it. I have a large 1-bedroom, and it's bigger than the 1-bedroom at the other two places I took a virtual tour of.

Everybody at Fig Garden has been really helpful and very nice. The apartment is very nice. They have COVID precautions in effect since my mother moved in. No one's dining and no one's allowed out of their apartments. They have activities, transportation, laundry facilities, housekeeping once a week for linens, and they do laundry service for a fee. They have a lot. They also have life alert for every resident. They keep the facility in pretty good shape. They have on-site facilities to do maintenance for the apartments and the grounds. They have nice landscaping. They've been doing room service for everybody since the COVID-19 protocols have taken effect. She gets a couple meal choices for their breakfast, lunch and dinner, and they do snacks twice a day. She has a choice of three different snacks, and she says she likes it. They had a really good schedule of activities before everything was shut down. It's just nobody has been able to participate in several months.

Fig Garden was very lovely, and the rooms were very nice but much smaller. Everyone was very polite. I would recommend them. When I was there, I noticed people playing bridge, and there was a pool table. The food was very good.

My grandma is here and has been for about a month. Right away she was given a mentor that showed her the ropes, schedules, and activities that she can go to. The mentor introduced her to other residents, so gave my grandma an immediate welcoming feeling. The entire place is immaculate and the staff is first rate. I felt like she had moved into a 4 star resort. It was an upsetting move, as she left her home of 42 years, but after accidentally leaving her stove on and not able to see well enough to turn it off herself, she decided it was time. I honestly couldnt be happier with her decision.

My impression of Fig Garden is very favorable. In fact, this is where my mom is currently living. Her only complaint is the food; she would like a little more diversity. Other than that, we’ve been very pleased. She’s in a one-bedroom apartment that's perfect for her. It’s definitely handicapped accessible, so she’s able to exit and enter the shower so much easier. Their handrails are just perfect for her, and there’s enough room in the bedroom and living room that she has room for both of her walkers: the one that she goes out with and the one that she uses in the home. The staff has been friendly and welcoming. The transition to living from home into there has been very easy because the people there are so friendly.

We chose Fig Garden for mom because it gave me a very pleasant feeling. We will be moving her in there. It has a very positive environment and everything was extremely clean. I felt this place would be the most appropriate for my mother's personality. I saw that the people were playing games and being very active and sociable. Everybody looked involved and very alive, which were real factors of why we chose the place for her.

I am in the Fig Garden now, and it is really good. The staff is very helpful. The food is pretty good. They've got a chef here and everything. It helps me to keep my diabetes under control, and I get three squares a day and all of that cooked. That is probably the biggest advantage for me. I am pretty happy with it.

I went to the Fig Garden and I had a very nice visit there. I was very impressed with this facility. Actually I just like the whole feeling of this place. The sales person who gave me a tour was very pleasant. We had a nice long talk about it. The tour was really wonderful. I have callbacks and I get little notes from them, so I won't forget about them. The staff accommodates me very nicely. I like the fact that there are different sizes of apartments because I'm probably going to want one of the bigger ones. The only thing I would change if I have a choice in the matter is that the kitchen be a little bit more complete.
