I visited this facility

What I like the best about MorningStar at Silver Lake is the level of care. I think that the compassion of the staff seemed evident and I like that. We like that a lot. In terms of the common facilities, like the cafeteria and the lobby, they were beautiful. Also, the community garden was great. I think what we liked least was that the rooms were quite outdated in terms of the kitchen. The cabinets and the appliances were very low-end compared to other options on the market. It needs updating. Common areas include activity rooms, movie rooms, and exercise rooms. The food was freshly prepared on site. They were great. It was enchilada. That's quite tasty.

My mother has moved into MorningStar of Silver Lake. They're very friendly. The service is fantastic. The food is excellent. The accommodations are superb. She likes it very much. The food quality is very good. They have Chicken Alfredo, beef tacos, tilapia, and different fish. It's a varied menu. It's very, very good and people have lots to choose from. They have a husky tailgate, happy hour, and a Veterans program coming up this Saturday honoring Veterans. They have live music there. It's a very lovely facility. They have movies twice a day, and they have activities going on every day. They have exercises going on every day.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that your mother is enjoying her time at MorningStar of Silver Lake. We strive to provide excellent service, delicious food, and a variety of activities for our residents. We appreciate your feedback!

The rooms are very nice. They have weakly housecleaning. The staff is excellent. Very helpful and friendly. There are a lot of activities so you can pick and choose how active you want to be. They offer day trips and Dr and errand trips. Nice place but very pricey.

My mom moved into MorningStar of Silver Lake. It's wonderful so far. Her room is set up really nice. It's set up for a wheelchair, which she is not that right now, and there's also a washer and dryer in the unit, and they do clean the unit and do the bed linens, but the washer and dryer is for your own use. Everything's great. Yesterday they went to the casino. There was a busload that went to the casino. They have a lot of things. They have music. There was a big sing along yesterday and people came to play the piano there and sing along. It's a really active community. 100 percent clean, clean, clean. No odors in the hallways. The food is very good, and they have a large menu to choose from. There's walking trails, big gardens to go out and walk around in, lots of trees.

We were able to see MorningStar of Silver Lake. They had lots of amenities, they had a pool and exercise room. They had all the things you need so you would not have to leave the place. The rooms were very nice, the one we looked at had a refrigerator. It was being refurbished for the new people that were just moving in. The tenants could have a little garden. They have all the little facilities like a billiard room, and if you want to invite your family, they've got a little private dining room.

I would highly recommend MorningStar of Silver Lake. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and explained things well. The restaurant and the food menu looked very appetizing. The layout of the apartments was great, and the space was good. They have a library, a theater, movies, bingo, and a community garden.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I lived at Morning Star Senior Living at Silver Lake for four years, then they sold it to Morningstar. It was very nice, and I didn't have anything to complain about it. They had raised flower boxes in the back, there were 12 of them that were assigned to different people or residents that want to participate in growing things. That was very beneficial and very nice. Once a week, they used to sell candy and cards inside so that the residents could purchase gifts or something for someone if they wanted, or for themselves. I thought that was nice, too. They have a lot of activities going on like exercise groups and they have entertainment that comes in. It used to be once a week, but since COVID, it's slowed down quite a bit. But they have a lot of things going on, so it's a nice facility. And they had caring help that would take care of us. The activity director Dora Rice is very caring and she took care of all the activities for people and then tried to help out wherever she could. She had several different jobs there, so she was very kind. And then her husband drove the bus, and he is a very caring person who always took the residents out who wanted to go out on a little tour, or just somewhere once a week on the bus to just get out of the home for a little bit. The layout was all very nice and the maintenance was good. They had a couple of maintenance people there that were very good about fixing things whenever something went down. And pretty much the layout is a three-story apartment type facility, and the layout is good. I had a 2-bedroom apartment there. It could've been just a tad bigger, but other than that, it was pretty good and I managed to get all my furniture in there. There were a few garages that were available for the residents. It was kind of hard to get, and the people that still had cars were on a waiting list for a garage. One thing that some of the facilities don't have is indoor parking or enclosed parking, so that was nice for the winter. The food was good. There were a few times when food isn't always that great, but for the most part, it was good. My complaint was it was too busy and they had too many activities and too many people coming in groups, that they rented rooms out to them. And so there was always a lot of people around from outside having organizations, having meetings there, and that sort of thing. And that was the reason I moved because there was just too much stuff going on. Usually, that's a plus for when you're looking for a place, but it just wasn't for me. Their rent is a lot higher than where I live now.

MorningStar at Silver Lake is a very, very nice facility. People were wonderful, but it was just way too much money. They had up to three bedrooms, but the cheapest one they had is about $3000 a month. It's a beautiful facility. They had a gym and a restaurant. People would come and help clean your room and all kinds of stuff, which is wonderful to have, but I just can't afford it. They have a full restaurant and meals are included. They have a gymnasium, a beauty salon, and a place you get your hair cut, a place to exercise, and parking. It was quite nice. The staff members were pretty accommodating and very nice. The whole place was top of the line. I talked to a couple of people that were living there and they loved it, but I just can't afford it.

It was beautiful. I'd love to stay there myself. They had lots of activities, and everybody was extremely friendly. They had a library, little craft areas, and quite a few people doing gardening and playing card games. It seemed more like a home with a well-established family. The residents would say hello to you and tell you they'd be glad to have you in there, and they talk about the activities that they have. The restaurant looked like a really expensive facility. I have a friend who lives in Seattle whose parents were there and he put them all the way up there because he thought it had the best and friendliest staff that he has ever come across. Out of any hotel or resort I've ever stayed, that place was the friendliest and had the best atmosphere. I'd rate that place better than Disneyland as far as kindness goes. They have people who will drive you and buses. They have activities every week and anytime my mom would need to drive somewhere or if she needed a wheelchair, they would bring it to her and they would let her park it right there at her front door.

When you walked in, you would think that you were in Italy. It was gorgeous. Their activity director was spectacular. She went out of her way, and she was the one I was most impressed with. That's the place I wanted to move to. Their food was over the top. They had a gourmet chef. I was looking for a place for my aunt, but they also cared about me.
