I am a friend or relative of a resident
Garden Court Retirement Community is a very nice place. The staff are friendly and warm. The rooms are nice too. I would recommend this place to other people looking for an independent-living community. I was satisfied with the food that was served to me; one time was very good, the other time was not so. But I must say that Garden Court is a very beautiful place. But more importantly, the staff are genuinely friendly. My mother-in-law says they treat her with a great deal of caring and compassion. I think that’s the most important thing for us.

I love Garden Court. My dad is happy there. I chose this facility for its location in proximity to my home, accessibility to medical care, quality of food, and employment screening for staff. The meals seemed to be in proportion and dietary balanced. The people working are a really good culture of people with very similar interests in caring for the elderly. I would definitely recommend the place. They don’t have community involvement around the area, however, and need some kind of a cross-culture program.
We appreciate the kind words shared by this family member. We work on a daily basis to win the confidence of our residents and their families. If greater Community Engagement is what is referred to as "community involvement", Garden Court has always had a commitment to the Snohomish County seniors although many of our efforts have been done in a quiet way. For example, we GC Service Group made up with our residents, put together 50 port pillows and surgical pockets for the convenience and comfort of patients of the Swedish Cancer Institute. We, with the help of other 3 other enlightened providers- Chateau Pacific, Brookdale at Arbor Place, and South Pointe, just in October raised over $1500 for the Everett Medic One Foundation and the Fire 1 Foundation in Snohomish County by sponsoring our 5th Annual Chili Throw Down. We sponsor many programs for seniors in Snohomish County for low income seniors and have given scholarships for High School Students going into the health sciences. We have sat on the Snohomish County Council on Aging and have worked with the schools and neighborhood groups to keep our neighborhood safe. We have sponsored programs through Senior Services for Snohomish County, the Providence Foundation and this past year we made sure that seniors at the Carl Gibson Senior Center each month had a special birthday cake prepared by our Chef for a wonderful celebration. So if there was a different focus to the comment, we want to know! It's important that we are responsive to our community. We would love to get ideas on cross-culture programing. We believe that the spirit of Garden Court would die without feedback. So we appreciate that this family would take the time to honor us and give ideas for growth and development.

I visited this facility
I've gone to a lot of them in Snohomish County. My favorite is Garden Court. They just have a lot of amenities. It is privately owned, the owner really cares about the seniors having a quality lifestyle and it shows, instead of being owned by some big corporation. They will offer extra things like you can go down to the office at any time of the day, and within a five mile radius, they will take you to where you want to go to visit a friend for coffee or lunch. They don't charge you, and they will pick you up. Every three months or so, they take them -- and you have to pay for it -- but they will take you on overnight trips to different places. And a lot of the people at Garden Court like to garden, so they've put in raised beds for the people to do their home gardening; it was just beautiful. They have the highest award in Snohomish County because they just care about the people. They invited us back to eat, and the chef came out with a package of goodies for us to take home. They were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was excellent. One thing you notice when you walk in a place is how happy the residents seem, and there was a sense of joy in there. The people looked happy, they were out doing things, and they plan a lot of trips for them. The owner lives in the area, and he really cares about the people. He wants to please them, and it shows.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Not all retirement communities are the same. It does take work to visit some to see the difference. We are excited about seniors and celebrating their lives. We hold that we work in our residents' homes rather than them living in our place of employment!
