We went to Friendship Village. They took us through the building. It was very good. They told us the price and everything. They're like apartments. They have a living room, a bedroom, kitchen, and a bathroom. They showed us all the activities. The staff was very good.

I chose Friendship Village for my sister and brother-in-law. It was a very quiet area. I liked the way they were arranged. They're like garden homes. There are two separate units in one building, and there's plenty of room. There's enough space, and you don't feel confined. The staff member I met was absolutely outstanding. She was very personable, very informative, and not pushy. I thought she was great. They have housekeeping available. They have meals of course, but when you're independent you can buy a meal card or you can buy separate meals. They will bring them to you if you don't feel like walking over to the dining room or whatever. It just seemed like everything my loved ones needed. They have a van that can take you to the store or to your doctors' appointments. They just seemed very helpful and really on it.

Friendship Village was in dire need of repair. It was not being upkept. It was not in good shape. The staff took me through the building where the apartments were. Most of them had water damage. These apartments were sitting there empty, and I don't know if they had maintenance people there. Who wants to go in to rent something and then they say, "Oh, we'll fix it up." Why didn't you fix it up before you started showing it? So, that kind of bothered me a little bit. And then she took me over to the cottages, and there was one 3-bedroom cottage that was available, but it was awful. The place was huge. The carpet was very nasty. The lady that took me around was very, very nice. There was even this one gentleman, I thought he was the manager, but he ended up being a district manager over quite a few of the buildings in different cities. He was like a regional manager, and he was extremely nice. The people that I had to talk to and deal with were extremely nice. There were some good benefits to it because I could have brought my grandchildren and my great-grandchildren to that little cottage. So, that was a plus, plus, plus with me if it had just been cleaner and more presentable.

FV is well past its prime. It's a cavernous, ghost town with a skeleton crew. Mom stays in memory care which is a locked unit. Hours can pass from the time mom asks for help until someone comes. Because there is hardly any staff, residents often dial 911 to get help. The calls go unanswered, when they do respond they're unfriendly, and there are barely any activities especially on the weekend. I'm actively seeking a new place for my mom.

I went to look at Friendship Village. I am impressed with the facility. The meal was fine. They have a gazebo. It was near the hospital. Everything was clean.

They answer Friendship Village, but are the most unfriendly community I have ever been to. You make a call, they will hardly pick the call, and will never return a missed call. They left my mother with a terrible bed sore after spending three weeks in their facility. Caused me to cry for two weeks because I was unable to speak with my mother. I pray that the hardship they gave to my mother will visit everyone of them at some point in their life. A no go facility.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at the Friendship Village for rehab, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. They have a series of meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Out of the two weeks I was there, I got three hot meals total served to me. Every time I got my breakfast, or my lunch, or my dinner, it was very cold. Depends on which staff at the time of the day, but they're very poor. You hit the button calling for assistance, and you might wait 10 minutes, or you might wait forty-five minutes or more. One night, I waited all night. I needed assistance getting out of bed, and from the first night, I was getting out of bed on my own. I made sure I related that to the physical therapist and occupational therapist. I would have preferred eating at a regular hospital. Some of the food that came back to me got burnt. There was no selection of the meals. You are served what they had on their menu, whether you liked it or not. If I could, I got my family to buy me something to eat. The therapy was adequate. It wasn't a aggressive type of treatment. They had a library and a little gathering area with a TV. The building itself was clean and well kept. They had maintenance people come in to empty the trash and clean the room.

Other

Friendship Village is a disappointment on almost every possible level. Half of the building is a ghost town in serious need of repair, the management team is nepotistic and polar opposite of the mission they allude to; a permeating mist of unhappiness and sadness seeps into every square foot of the structure. What could and should be a thriving pillar of the community is a shell of ignored promises and serious neglect. Fortunately, the community does have redeeming qualities, such as their loyal residents who remain hopeful that change is coming and several team members who care too much for their residents to just walk away. Heartbreakingly, the residents of Friendship Village remain their best asset and continue to be least accounted for by upper management. Though not every person falls into this category, there is much to be said about these folks as well; if you don’t stand up for what you believe in and what is very clearly wrong, you ultimately stand for nothing and become part of the problem through negligence. I say a prayer for all individuals in connection to this community on a daily basis and I genuinely hope that this place is turned around because no one deserves to call this place home.

Friendship Village was fine. A lot of their residents stay inside their apartments due to Covid. As far as the amenities that were offered, they had good amenities. Also, some of the activities, like going out and taking them to offsite activities, had been put on hold. Pre-covid, they were available. The facility is dated and they were renovating a lot of the apartments. They said that their apartments would be updated as new residents came in. They showed us some of the updated apartments and they were extremely nice. The staff members were very friendly, very knowledgeable, very nice, and very helpful; especially when addressing questions.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I spent 2 very long weeks at friendship village, and it was terrible. The staff was in slow mode, never in any kind of hurry no matter what the circumstances were. The food was not very good and I had under cooked chicken twice. One aide felt so bad about the food that she went to McDonald's for me. I tried to pay her but she wouldn't accept. I was exposed to COVID because one night nurse thought he read I was pos and I spent 4 long days in that unit. I'm fortunate I didn't get it, and wanted some answers but STILL don't know. i have been retested and remain negative. I went there for rehab after hip replacement and came home with hypertension and anxiety! Don't place friends or loved one's here. Some of the permanent residents I observed were ignored and neglected. Call lights go unanswered for several hours.

Friendship Village's price was great. However, the place was old, and it hadn't been maintained well. They changed management quite a few times too. The place is very big and they have a library. However, the staff members were not welcoming.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I had my mom in rehab for a while at Friendship Village. I had gone there to look at their assisted living facilities five years ago, and I thought it was a very nice atmosphere and it seemed like it had a lot of different things to offer. This one was a little older facility than some, but it was still fairly kept up and everything. I wasn’t really too fond of the rehab part of it. She had a roommate, and she was kind of distractive at night, so I didn’t think that that was too good for the other roommate. I also didn’t think it was a good fit for my mom. She had been there for three days and I wasn’t able to visit, so I called to find out about her and I wasn’t able to get through, or nobody picked up in that area. And when I got there, they had given her a sandwich, but it wasn’t really close to her or within reach of her to pick up. She is 97 years old, she has dementia, and she has a lot of things going on which made it may be harder for them to deal with her. I also don’t know whether I have a really good idea of what went on during the day. But when I was there, I wasn’t too impressed with what was going on. I feel like in some cases, they should be in individual rooms rather than with a roommate or a more private type of double room. They should also provide more assistance for the ones who needed a little extra help.

We went to Friendship Village. It was not updated, so I did not care for it at all. It was clean but needed some serious updating. I would not put my mother-in-law there. They would have put her in a two-bed nursing-home-type situation with a curtain between her and somebody else, and that just turned us off. The food was very good. The price was average.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My dad is in Friendship Village. So far, it has been very good. I think they probably have the best cost. They also have multiple levels of care all in one place if he needs to move up as his disease progresses. The rooms are very nice and very clean. It is an older facility that's been there for quite some time, but they did some remodeling. One of the biggest things that I notice is that the nurses and the staff seem to be very friendly, very caring, and make me feel very comfortable that they will take care of my dad to the best of their ability. They seem to be a little active and take him out of his room most of the time, not just for meals but for activities in between meals like an exercise class or birthday celebration or group activity. They seem to have several of those every day. It keeps him out of his room not only for meal time, but throughout the day interacting with other people. It stimulates their minds rather than just being in their rooms all day.

The staff was amazing; they were wonderful and very nice. They knew my mother from another facility, and they remembered her, so that was interesting. The people in the place were very nice. They came over and said "Hi." The apartments were large and very nice -- nicer than most of the ones that I have seen. Basically, Friendship Village was really a good place, but for me it was just too far away. There was a gym, there was shopping, and they had clubs. They had other things too. They also had an art room. The food was very good. The dining room was open all day. I liked the whole atmosphere of the place. It was clean and inviting, and you could be as friendly or as non-friendly as you wanted. It was a really nice place. I wouldn't mind being there when the time comes.

Everything was OK at Friendship Village; the food was fine, and they had great activities. They seem to be low on staff at certain times in the evenings and weekends. I feel like the care wasn’t as good as the other place. The rooms were fine, and they were pretty nice. The grounds were big, so mom has a lot of area to walk.

My mother is in Friendship Village and she's very happy there. The facility is very good. The staff is great and their work ethic is good. Mom is in an apartment with one-bedroom with small kitchen area, a living room and a bathroom, which is spacious enough for her. I eat there a couple of times and the food is good. The dining room is nice and pleasant. They have activities like cards, bingo and pool. They also have outings.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was sick and I needed to move her so I brought her to Friendship Village. The location was only five minutes from me so I could visit her quickly. She was in a cooped up room with not enough space for furniture. It was depressing that she was in the room everyday and never got out. At first, we thought the food was going to be good but it was not. The seniors could not chew the cooked food because it was too hard. My mom did not eat the food and it cost more to buy her food when it was supposedly part of her rent. The staff was friendly and I liked that. They tried their best to be accommodating to my mom although she was in the independent living area.
