I visited this facility

I like that Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi offered three meals a day with lots of extra choices. If you didn't like what was being served that day or had an allergy, there were just lots of options. The staff members were warm, friendly, and very informative. Some of the residents were very kind and immediately came over and introduced themselves and sat down. They're in the middle of construction to make things nicer inside for the residents. They're keeping it as clean as possible, but there are a lot of areas that are blocked off. They allowed us to come in and taste the food, and the food was very tasty. They also had a lot to offer that other facilities don't have, like washing machines and dryers on each floor. The rooms were very nice. They're a little expensive, but I think all of them are expensive. The director was very helpful. She's still calling to see if there's anything she can do or any way she can to help, and if any new specials come up that the facility offers to help new residents.

I visited this facility

We toured Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. The representative that took us on the tour was very knowledgeable, very polite, and very accommodating. The facilities were being updated at the time that we toured, which is fine. They're doing a makeover of the entire facility. Their cottages were nice for the pricing. The grounds were nice and pretty. They had a lot of flowers and everything looked very well- maintained and well-kept. They were finishing up lunch when we got there. We didn't notice any activities or anything. They have a swimming pool and meals at the main facility.

I visited this facility

I toured Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. I like the open space concept. I like that they had music and something there for them. They have activities, too. The rooms are kind of small because of the lack of a kitchen, but it was nice. They were reforming everything, so when they're done, that's going to be nice. The staff was very friendly. However, they didn't have everything I needed for my mother. They had a small refrigerator, a small microwave, a very small counter space, and a small coffee maker. They have two courtyards. They have a large one inside with lots of lighting.

I visited this facility

I will be moving into Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi in March because they're going to replace the floor in my studio apartment. I liked this place very much. They had exactly what I needed, which is a first-floor studio apartment. My apartment was nice and clean. It's not very big, but I don't need a big space. The facility seemed well cared for. They had a beauty salon, a pub, a movie room, and a restaurant. My understanding is they're in the process of renewing some of it and that they're going to be putting another restaurant in. The staff was very good and very friendly.

I visited this facility

I toured Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. I loved everything about it. If I had to pick among the places I visited, I'll be picking this one. The price was more affordable. They had three meals a day. They had people that would do the laundry and clean the apartments once a week. The grounds were huge. They've got pathways, but not a lot of shaded areas. If they can still drive, there's parking. The rooms were big, even the studio apartment. They will notify the families if they notice your relative needed to be reevaluated or needed more assistance. They had a menu that comes out once a week. They had 3 different menus for breakfast, 3 for lunch, and 3 for dinner. The dining area was huge with lots of tables and chairs. You sit down and you order whatever you want, restaurant style. They had eating areas on each floor. They were under renovation, so for those that can't use the stairs to get down, the staff would go up, get their orders, and bring them up their meals. Up on the third floor, they had a beautician and they will have people to do pedicures. They had libraries on each floor and there was a room that was set off to the side where they could play cards. They didn't have to go down to the main floor if they didn't want to. There were also puzzle stations and craft stations on each floor. It was just amazing. The staff, as they were walking by, would say hello. They also allowed pets.

Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi was a beautiful place, very nice, and very reasonable. The people were wonderful. Everything was very nice, the amenities. Everything that they offer is very nice. The rooms were very nice, and clean, and it looked like they'd be very comfortable to be in. The staff was wonderful, very nice, and very helpful. They did say that they had a lot of games, bingo, a pool table, a swimming pool, and a gym.

We toured Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. Everyone was very friendly and very nice. The staff were very helpful. They gave us a lot of good information and made my friend very comfortable. The rooms were very nice, a very good size, and very easy for the elderly to use. They showed us the activities and the dining and that they have a service that does help with medication, but it is an additional fee for that. My friend was able to eat lunch there while we were there, and she enjoyed it a lot. She said it was very good. It was a very nice, very clean, and very friendly place. The staff were very friendly and very nice.

I toured Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. The staff during the tour was really nice, really helpful, willing to waive a few things for me, and trying to get me in there. She was even going to help me furnish it. It looked like it was wide open when you walk into the place. It looked very clean and well maintained. The girl that showed me around was really friendly. She jumped through a lot of hoops to get some of the things waived to make it possible for me to move, instead of waiting until I got this much money for stuff. They got therapy, a little gym with a bike, a treadmill, and a cable machine for strength training. The rooms were a fair size for one person. I only looked at what would fit me. The one-bedroom was roomy enough for one person. It was quite a walk from the parking lot to the front for elderly, which is OK. If you got a walker or scooter or even if it's raining, you would have quite a distance to walk to get from one to the other. Bingo was being played in the dining room. Everybody was all huddled around playing bingo, and they all looked happy.

Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi was nice, but they didn't have anything left. They have the cabins that are out by themselves like small houses, they're furnished, and they have a one car garage with the garage door opener. They furnish your meals and everything. You pretty much just have to move in. I liked it a lot. However, the one they had left didn't have anything planted in the flower beds. They need to do better landscaping on the cottages outside. The staff was very helpful. They have everything you need. They have all the amenities inside the building. You can also go inside the building to eat if you want to. They do housekeeping once a week, and they do your linens. Everything's furnished. It was very clean and it's centrally located. It's in a good location in Corpus Christi. I was just looking at one-bedroom, one-bath. I couldn't afford the bigger ones on Social Security.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved out of Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. Before the pandemic, I've been back to play poker, pool, and eat, but since the pandemic, I haven't been able to go. I went back and forth. The people that were working there weren't happy, and they have people living there that aren't happy, too. The ones I know have a set rental like they can't raise their rent, and they're just staying there because they can't raise the rent, other than that, they would be out. I would tell others to visit and talk to the people who live there because I don't think they're going to be as impressed as I was when it was around when I first moved in. It went downhill. The company that owns it now is in it for the money, and not in it for the long run. They're letting in bedridden people, and it's not set up for that. They have an outside group of people that help you with meds and changing and stuff like that, and it's an outside agency that's stationed in there, and they have a big turnover. I wasn't happy with them either. The only thing they have is good food, but you have to go sit down for two hours for each meal because you have to wait until they're ready to serve. The staff is just there to make money. They're not happy people. They don't always have a smile on their face. They don't have somebody stationed at the front door or near the front door all the time. It's just not run as efficiently as the other place. I consider that as poor management. They've got mold everywhere. They're not taking care of it, and they're just trying painting over it, so it's not safe. Their air-conditioning system is leaking all the time in the ceiling, and they paint over it.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother is at Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. The apartment that I chose for him is the studio, and it's perfect for him. It's on the first floor and close to the dining room because he's in a wheelchair right now and he's just beginning to get mobile. The people there are great. I love them and he likes them too. He seems to be enjoying himself there very much. They're very friendly and very helpful. They go out of their way to make sure that all of their needs are met. If there's something wrong with the room, they fix it as quickly as possible. Of course, everybody's shorthanded right now, so it's going to take a little longer, but they're doing a great job and they're making sure he has plenty of activities to entertain him with when he gets out of his apartment. I've tasted the food and it was very good. I haven't been down to the dining room, so I don't know how the service is, but he likes the food too. The people in the office are great. When I'm there, I go down and visit with the person that showed me around and I like her and the manager. It's a good place.

Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi was a really nice place. I was not able to meet all their staff, just the lady who took us around. She was very informative, nice, and answered all of our question Since it was during COVID, we didn't see much of the people around. We just wanted to get a look at the place, the layout of the rooms, and we just did a quick walkthrough. I imagine if it weren't for COVID it would have been a more in-depth tour. They take independent people there, but their rooms don't have a full kitchen. My mom is 80, but she is still capable of cooking for herself. Solstice just basically had a microwave, a refrigerator, and sink. There was no full kitchen. The place overall was nice. I would think it was number two out of all the ones we've seen.

I visited this facility

I did an in-person tour at Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. It was a very comfortable environment, nice, peaceful, clean, and up-to-date. I'm trying to locate an environment where I'm comfortable and where I can focus on my information technology courses online. I don't want nothing to distract me from that. It's kind of expensive though, and I can see why because of the location. They had a tennis court, a swimming pool, and an arts and design room. The rooms were nice, big, comfortable, and clean. The staff member during the tour was a great person, got a lot of PR, friendly, and she had a very important position there.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents stayed at Solstice. They didn't have enough staff to really get involved with people. They had programs, game days, and games night. They had activities, but they weren't as strong as I wanted them to be. My parents never really got involved. There wasn't enough interactions with the staff. They had a salon, a room where they can watch movies, a workout corner, and a small reading room. The dining seemed to be the big thing because there really weren't any activities going on. Their food had too much salt and/or too much sugar in it. Nevertheless, the building was quaint. What got me when I first walked in was that beautiful staircase; it was elegant. There was also a big grandfather clock and a chandelier.

We're very pleased with Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi overall. The only drawback is that they only have one elevator, and several of the things my mother needs to go and do are upstairs. The building has three floors. Even though my mom can't see very well, their library has audio books. She uses a walker and would have needed to use the elevator, but aside from only having one elevator, it was really small. They were undergoing a lot of renovations and at first I was worried that there were a lot of things that were not in place. But the person giving us the tour immediately told us why we were seeing a little bit of disarray in the community. They're making an effort to make a lot of improvements.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has been living at Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi. They changed ownership and they're working things out. They have really tried very hard to update the facility and keep the level of staffing up to what we were accustomed to, so it has turned the corner into working out fine. The rooms are fantastic, bright, and airy, which is one of the reasons my mom wants to stay. We have a little bit of staff turnover, but we seem to be back on the upswing of things. There's not a single complaint that I have for the staff at this point. The dining setup is one of the things they're working on and the food is fine. We've had quite a bit of turnover of chefs, but I'm sure it will get better. The service is a little slow because they have not altered the way the service has gone from the previous owners, so if they're running a full dining room it can be a longer process sometimes. They brought in a new activity director and she's fantastic.

Solstice Senior Living at Corpus Christi seemed to be a little less formal and more like a home. It was not resort style like the others, which was appealing to us. They contract another organization to come in and do skilled nursing for their residents. One of the things that appealed to us was that my father would not be moved from one apartment to another, they just bring the care people in. Their staff was awesome. There were a lot of maintenance people doing something all over the place, and when someone passes by you they say hello. I thought that was really nice.

It would make my mother like she was at home. The place was very secure as well. They also had numerous activities everyday. They would take you to doctors, banks, and to grocery stores. It was more than adequate as far as activities.

I visited this facility

It was very home and warm. The people living there would go by while I was sitting at the lobby and they would go "Oh, hi! Are you moving in?" or "Welcome! We hope you like it here". It was very nice. I liked it because it was very clean. It didn't smell like old folks, although there were a lot of old folks there. I found it very nice. They had activities on a daily basis. There were four or five activities you could do a day. They had a beautiful workout room and a swimming pool. They would take you on shopping place, and there were two days a week when they go shopping. They would take you to any doctor's appointments as well. When I first started the tour, the staff told me that I was welcome to stay on a luncheon, but I said I would not do it at that time. However, after I sat in the lobby when we were all through with the tour she went to the office to get a brochure for me. A lady came in from outside and she said to me, "Oh you're gonna have lunch with us?". I said "No. I think I'm gonna leave", and she said "Oh, you need to have lunch with us. You know, the food is good". I told the lady I changed my mind. She said: "I'm gonna sit you in a table with some ladies that you will be comfortable with". I was very comfortable, and they were very nice. What amazed me was that you had your choice of food. They had two different kinds of menus for the lunch period, and they would ask which one would you want. They had four or five salads that you could choose from. The rooms were very nice and clean. I was amazed that you could decorate outside your apartment.

I liked the way that the people were mostly independent living than assisted living. It was more or less wide open, had a nice dining room, and was three stories tall. You can have an oak suite if you wanted, or you can have a small apartment; they had all kinds of stuff. They had a popcorn machine, they had movie nights, and they also have a computer room, and also you can hook up your own computer, which was one of the things that I liked. I met a person who became my friend there, and there were quite a few people who were helpful, nice, and courteous.

It was recommended by a health care provider and I went and checked them out and like them better than any of the others that I went to visit. My overall experience was pretty good. They're very friendly and helpful. I've been really happy except for the problems with pigeons on the patios. The surroundings and the rooms are very nice. I've eaten there and the food is very good. They have card games, bingo, movies, and water aerobics on the pool outside. They have days when they take the residents to Wal-Mart or to local grocery stores. My dad has been in this community a little over a year.

I am in here, and I chose it because of the price. The staff is very good. They have studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments. They also have 7cottages that you can rent, but they are usually full. The food and the dining are both good. They have every activity you can imagine. They have bingo. They bring in private bands to play country and western. They are going to have a Mardi Gras celebration, and last week they took some people out to a restaurant to eat. They have daily bus service to Walmart, large grocery stores, and doctors.

We also went here, and I liked it a lot. It was bigger and had more residents. I thought because of that, they had a lot more activities and things available. The residents there all seemed really upbeat and enjoyed being there. The staff was excellent. Actually, my father and I went back another time to ask some more questions, and they all came over right away, introduced themselves, and wanted to see if there was anything more they could help us with. They were extremely helpful. I liked the energy of the people and the energy of the staff. The food was very good. They had a nice method. You had your entrée but they came through with a serving tray, so you could choose your salad and your soup or a fruit. It was nice to be able to do it in that format because you could see what it was before you chose. The only thing that I felt was a detriment there was the hour that the laundry area was open because it was a little limited, but it was just minor.
