I visited this facility

Oakmont of Montecito was a really nice facility, but it was too expensive for our budget. They were excellent and phenomenal. The people seemed very happy. They have a beautiful building and great amenities internally. They had a great walking area, which was very secure as to where people could hang out. The support staff was very friendly and supportive. The rooms were very nice. They also serve two to three meals a day, including on weekends. They also helped with laundry service. Overall, it was a great place. I think it was very inclusive at that price. The manager has been there for a very long time. She's very experienced and super helpful. They put 30 percent of the rooms at a lower cost, and I thought that was a nice feature for the facility. The menu looked great, and the people looked happy.

I visited this facility

Oakmont of Montecito was extremely expensive, and the average age was 82. That's too old, and we're kind of looking at the time for assisted living so my loved one and I could be together, but the staff was very nice, accommodating, and forthright with expenses and costs. The facility was very nice and very clean.

The staff at Oakmont of Montecito was super nice. The grounds were beautiful. They had a lot of really cool activities. The way that they had their restaurant set up and everything was nice. It was as if they were going to go out to dinner together at a restaurant certainly. It was a very nice place. They did everything well. I visited the rooms and it was just like trying to find a nice apartment for yourself. It reminded me of some of the nicer apartment complexes when I used to get an apartment when I was younger. It was nicer than I expected. It was very clean and looked like it was probably recently updated. The menu looked like it had a lot of different choices that were cool. I visited other places and Oakmont of Montecito was by far, exceedingly the nicest location I have been in. They were like an upper scale, it seemed to me, compared to some of the other ones. Everyone I interacted with was super nice. I met some of the maintenance and not only were they super nice, but they were doing a good job fixing up one of the units that was coming available. I also met some of the general staff and some of the logistics people that run the facility and they were all nice. They were going to have music in the courtyard that evening and there were a whole bunch of other people getting together and doing fun things together, like playing chess or doing a craft together. It looked like a fun place to be.

Oakmont of Montecito was lovely. They were on a 5-acre piece of ground, so it was quite large, and quite spread out, and we were welcomed very warmly. We had their regular menu. I didn't have the special, it was just their meal of the day, and it was okay, but not wonderful. For a one bedroom, for the price, they seemed small. One of the things that was clear about them is the longevity of staff there. Folks like working there. And my experience was they were happy and very welcoming. The dining area was very spacious. It was very nicely appointed. We ate in the main dining room, I could hear the people there, and the voices sounded happy. There was laughter. We were very graciously served. There seemed to be quite a number of folks who were independent. They appeared to be independent in terms of, they didn't have someone taking them around. They were getting themselves around.

We are very interested in Oakmont of Montecito. We saw assisted living and memory care and they were both excellent. I liked the facility. The staff was excellent. The activity was excellent. The upkeep or housekeeping was beautiful. Everything was beautiful. The landscaping was beautiful. They had activities going on all day, every day. They have root beer floats, poker, cards, games, movies, water aerobics, ice cream socials, walks, and beach volleyball. They have piano music. They have a barbershop and a beauty salon, and they have transport services. They have everything.

Oakmont of Montecito is like a cruise ship on land. It has lots of activities and amenities. Their staff was very friendly and informative. The rooms that I saw were very modern and clean. It is a newer building. They have all the transportation and activities planned for every day. They have a library, pool hall, and all that stuff. The problem with places like this one is you're going to pay $6000 to $10000 a month, and that is beyond our budget. I would love to put my father in a place like that, but that's not really for a family like ours.

Oakmont of Montecito is huge. It is gorgeous. Touring the place was like going to Club Med or something. They have their own movie theater, beauty salon, workout room, personal trainers on staff for fitness, and an aviary with birds in it. The one thing I liked about Oakmont of Montecito is the accommodations. They were like a mini condo. It's got two bedrooms, a den, a private deck, a private laundry, and a full kitchen. It would be more spacious and more accommodating for mom. It was all expensive, but it was beautiful. Also, they offer garages as part of their accommodation. The director was very polished, very knowledgeable, and so compassionate. Their menu was more of a gourmet style. So, it's a little bit fancier. I was given a nice little package with macarons when we finished the tour. Everything about it is top-notch, except that they had private rooms for the memory care residents whereas the other facilities had more of a community feel to it, where they interacted with each other. So, I just felt my dad could get kind of lost and lonely there.

I visited Oakmont of Montecito. It was a beautiful place, but I just can't afford it. I liked everything about the place. It was wonderful. The people were nice. It was clean. They were very friendly, and they had lots of activities. There wasn't anything I didn't like about it, except the price. They didn't serve us any food, but they did give us some cookies. They were delicious. Their memory care looked very safe. I would have felt comfortable placing my mom there, but I can't afford it. The people were all gathered out in groups, milling, watching TV, or playing games. Some of them that could get around are out leaving or coming back. Anybody I talked to said that they really liked it there. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and roomy. They seemed very nice. A gentleman was in his room. When I asked if I can look in, he said yes and seemed very comfortable and happy there.

I loved Oakmont of Montecito. It was very nice. I liked it. The staff who helped me out was great. She seemed to understand the process and how hard it is to put one of your loved ones in a facility. In terms of activities, I saw them exercising, there were group things going on, and then they had a lot of staff, so that's good. The dining area was good. There were tables and you could sit down and eat by yourself or with the crowd. It was adequate. The building is built in a square and all the stuff is inside, like the courtyard. They have a real nice fountain, they have a fireplace, and they have musical things where groups would come in and play for the people. It looked like a really great place. The building had a nice curb appeal. It looked great.

I liked Oakmont of Montecito. It was very spacious. They seemed very caring about the residents. The food menu looked very good. The place looked very clean and very nice. The staff who showed us around was very knowledgeable about the facility. They knew a lot about how they care for people with Alzheimer's, so it was a good experience. They had a patio. They were remodeling it because they expanded memory care. We didn't go out there, but looking through the windows, they were working on that. They had an open courtyard and it looked like it was going to be very nice as well.

Oakmont of Montecito is a large, clean unit, it offers lots of assistance, and the food is better than average. I've been eating my dinners over there. It looks minimal. There's an interior courtyard where they're refinishing the pool, but I haven't been out in that area. They offer lots of activities. My wife is on fairly high care and they satisfy all of her basic requirements. The only difficulty we have is language, somewhat, and the mask can make that worse. She's in their assisted living and we're paying $4700 a month. These are such big numbers because there are so many services that come with it. I guess it's good because I was lucky we got one of the larger units. The place is beautiful, clean, looks new, and very well-maintained. The staff is excellent too.

I toured Oakmont at Montecito and had a great experience. The lady was very informative, very patient, and very knowledgeable. She went above and beyond with the information she gave me. It's just that the facility was much, much larger than what we needed. Their dining room area was smaller for the memory care, so it felt crowded to me. It was also older, but overall it was a nice facility. They were doing some remodeling of the rooms, and they looked nice.

Out of 9 places we've been to, Oakmont of Montecito is one of two that we would consider bringing my mother to. My tour there was great. There was somebody there to greet us, there was somebody there while we waited for the director to make sure any needs we had were tended to (i.e. coffee, water, whatever). The interview with the director was great. We were there for the memory care unit, and I love the memory care unit. The rooms were nice, clean, and well-kept. The whole place was clean and well-kept as well, and there was the interaction between the staff and the residents. We weren't able to try the food because the residents were eating, but it smelled delicious and look good. And I would say from what I observed, it was well-balanced. I can't think of anything they need to improve on. The place was nice, there was adequate room, and activities were going on to keep the residents busy and engaged. There was visitation going on, and it was just a relaxed, calm atmosphere.

I'm going to move into a studio at Oakmont of Montecito. It's very spacious and very, very nice. I like it. The staff is excellent and helpful. They would come to my house if I couldn't get there to do paperwork and to bring things. I've had two tours. We're starting to move a few things over. Everyone there is very, very nice and very helpful. They have so many activities: they have bingo, they play cards, and they have floral-arranging classes. Every day there are activities going on. They have a library and a PT room where you can go and work out. They have so much; you could do a lot there, and they have a movie theater. They have a courtyard with umbrella tables, a swimming pool and beautiful outside amenities. It will be nice for people to go around and sit under the tables and meet people. Everyone seemed friendly there.

After mom broke her hip we needed to find a facility for mom. From my first visit I knew this would be perfect for mom. We secured a one bedroom apartment, which includes a small kitchen, living room and a balcony to sit outside. We brought in moms furniture for home and did a mirror image of her living room and bedroom. From day one mom loved her apt. Montecito did a great job of keeping apartment clean up to moms standards and did her laundry once a week also. When ever my bother or I would show up unannounced mom was always dressed in clean clothes and looked happy and clean. Just that being said is a a lot to be thankful for me living 130 miles away it was always on my mind I wonder how mom is, and in the three years she lived there I never had second thoughts about her well being. I spent many nights with mom sleeping on a sofa bed. Like clock work care givers would come in to check on her. I seen and heard it many times care givers calling mom “mom”. My mother was truly pampered by caregivers and staff. As for the food, very good and a good selection you can choose from a menu. I have many fond memories of mom and I having dinner together and finishing with dessert and coffee. Montecito has many activities to keep residences busy and happy. Mom and I attended ballet in Walnut Creek, we all took the Montecito bus it was a wonderful event. We enjoyed many holiday dinners and festivities together I have many precious memories of our mother and our family together at Montecito. I truly could go on and on about Montecito. When I would take mom to her doctor appointments she would always say when we would pull into Montecito “ I’m Home” made me feel good to know our choice of a place for mom was the right one. Mom would still be here but god had other plans for her. She is still happy and dancing with dad and Jesus .

I did a physical tour of Oakmont of Montecito before COVID. The staff member was phenomenal. She was great, very informative, gave me a lot of good ideas, and very positive. I was very impressed with the place. There's one unit with two people per bedroom and then you share a bath. The dining room was down the hall. It's a long hall, so Mom would have to learn to walk inside.

Oakmont of Montecito was beautiful. I loved everything about it, except it was a little bit too far out on Clayton Road and my dad still drives, so I wasn't comfortable with the idea of him driving out Clayton Road at night. The facility itself was beautiful, and they had a lot of residents. They had the option of adding assisted living if he needed it, and you don't have to change your apartment. They had all kinds of activities, a movie theater, a swimming pool, and an exercise room.

Montecito is fantastic, and it was really the most elegant one, with fountains and everything. It was also the most expensive. Everything was OK, and the rooms were fine. The staff who accommodated us was good and attentive. Based on everything that I have gathered and all the other places I have seen, they're over-priced. The people that I have interacted with were friendly and nice.

Montecito is a fine community. If I have to rate any of the places where I would put my mother, Montecito would be my first choice. I like the activities that they have for the residents and I like the person who gave me the tour. She was very nice and helpful. She answered my questions, but wasn't giving me a sales job. She gave me more information, which was above and beyond what she needed to do. It was certainly helpful to me.

The people at Montecito were very nice, but the décor was a bit dated. The place was gigantic and felt a little dirty. They had a pool with a lift for people who could not go down, which I thought was nice. They had a workout room, a restaurant, a café, a social hall, and a game room.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to review our community. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed much of your visit. Though our campus is spacious, our community is small enough that everyone can get to know each other if they choose, allowing our residents to make lasting friendships with neighbors and staff. We are sorry to learn that you felt things were not as clean as they should be on the day of your visit. We pride ourselves on keeping our community in tip-top shape at all times; would you please drop me a line at your earliest convenience to share more details on how we can improve in this area? We were very interested in Montecito Oakmont. There was nothing we did not like about the place. They had very comprehensive and genuine care, a very up-to-date facility, a great deal of scheduled activities, and a lot of amenities. The living quarters and dining room were beautiful. It is a very large place with very long hallways. It was laid out really well. It looked more like a hotel resort with its center courtyard, pool, and jacuzzi than a typical senior living facility.

My mom was at Montecito Oakmont. The residents were extremely happy, energized, and well taken care of. The staff was very positive and very friendly, and the wait staff was excellent. A five star rating applies to everything there, except maybe for the price. We paid quite a bit more for it; probably twice as much as what we’re paying here in Texas.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am in Oakmont at Montecito (Montecito Oakmont Senior Living). I like that everything is done for me. I have a beautiful 2-bedroom apartment with an outdoor patio. I have 3 meals a day here. We have a dining room where I can meet other people. There is a very social atmosphere here. We are having a pianist that will come at 3 o'clock today to play the piano for an hour for the community. It is very nice that we always have some kind of a musical concert once a week. Everyday, we have card games, bingo, or scrabble. Everyday there are activities for the residents here. We have a bus that takes us to doctor's appointments and grocery shopping. They do my laundry. The staff is wonderful. I consider everybody here family. All of the girls that help me treat me like I am their mother. They love me here. I highly recommend it. The food is excellent. We have a 5 star chef in our dining room. We are very secure. We have gates all around the facility. We are on lock down after 9:30 at night, and nobody can come in unless you live here, and then you have to go to the front desk. It is safe here. I live with my little dog in the apartment. I have lived here for 2 months, and we haven't had any problems so far. We have a heated swimming pool, a hot tub, a Jacuzzi, and a walk-in bathtub. We have a nurse on staff here.

Mom lived in Oakmont, but she passed away last week. We're very, very happy with Montecito. One of her friends was already living there. They're very, very cordial, very caring, and got to know the residents. We chose the facility because of the proximity to where we lived. It's beautiful, has wonderful food and caring staff, and is just top-notch all around, we felt. They offered different kinds of rooms, from independent to assisted to memory care, so we liked the fact that there were options. She could move as she needed, which she did wind up doing. We thought the rooms were lovely -- simple, but big enough. We only have good things to say.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I live in Montecito, and it's really nice here. It's a living community, and you may go with assisted living for quite a few more dollars. I don't like it here. The main reason is it is so far away from my family and friends. I was in San Francisco for the last 35 years, and people don't want to drive this far to see me. It seems that when I was in the city, I had constant people coming, and here, I'm very lonely. It's my only complaint because the people here are very nice. The grounds are beautiful, they keep them up, and I've made some friends. It's a 1-bedroom, and it has a little kitchen and one little bathroom. It has a fair-sized bedroom and a fair-sized living room. It's clean and it's OK. The food is fair, but I am a gourmet cook, so I can't appreciate it like other people do. I know that they work hard, and they do have a varied menu. They have something going on all the time: cards, other games, movies. They have a bus and a person who will take you some places once in a while.
