We toured Carmel Village at Clovis. The people seemed very nice. The tour was pretty thorough, and we were able to talk with one of the residents. There were two classifications of rooms. One room shares a bathroom, and then you can pay more if you want a room with your own bathroom. Nobody wants to share a bathroom at that age, so I think that's just not a good setup. The rooms were very basic and small, too. They had somebody playing music for the residents. They seemed to have adequate staff, and they had places to mingle and different places to eat. The other thing that was really nice is outside of the memory care facility, they have a set of condominiums that you can rent month by month. If you had somebody at the memory facility, their spouse could rent one of those condominiums. That was kind of a neat feature. Or if you are not quite ready for either of the facilities, you could rent the condominiums. The condominiums surround the memory care facility, which was nice. I only met a couple of staff members, and they were very pleasant.

I liked the tour guide at Carmel Village at Clovis. She was cool. The staff members were all friendly. The one thing though when I was sitting down waiting, I asked the woman who's been a resident there for a week, and she said they don't have too many activities. She didn't like board games. She wasn't too enthused about the activities at the place. They had a couple of different dining halls. In their memory unit, there was no way they can get out and in the middle was a nice, big outdoor area. They had one through seven level of care. The staff showed me an apartment and it's pretty good sized. The courtyard was nice.

Carmel Village at Clovis knew each resident and the stories behind them. They were personable. The lady who toured us around didn't know my story, didn't know my father or anything, but she cared. They had a beauty salon and they do outings where they would take the memory care residents out for a drive throughout the community. So, it's more of a family community than just a memory care.

We visited Carmel Village at Clovis. It was very nice, and the people were very hospitable and friendly. There were opportunities for independent living, assisted living, and memory care so that one can step from one to the other easily. So people can stay with the same institution all along. The food was excellent, there were several staff on duty that we were able to see helping people. It was a positive atmosphere. Things were very clean and seemed to be very, very well organized. We were very happy with this, and I think that when the time comes to move, we will be well-prepared to choose this one. The rooms only had a kitchenette because they provide meals and also food between meals, so there's not a great need for cooking. But there's a refrigerator, microwave, and so forth. And the living room is big enough to handle just regular living room furniture, the one plus unit's bedroom can handle a king-sized bed, and the regular bedroom can handle a queen-sized bed. So they're certainly adequate for what we would have. The food was delicious. Overall, it's very clean and very well-kept, it's a good space for people to spread out, sit outside, sit inside, exercise, or play games. There were many areas for all kinds of social activities. They had a beauty salon, library, exercise room, a movie room, and spaces for playing cards or board games.

My husband is a resident of Carmel Village at Clovis. The thing I love most about Carmel Village is the caregivers, and the least I like about the place is the food. I like the way that the memory care facility is set up, and I like the fact that they have access to where they can get outside. So it's all locked up, but they can get outside to sit in the sun if they like to, or just enjoy being outdoors any time they want, whereas the other facilities would require them to get permission from somebody to let them out in the backyard or back inside. I like the cleanliness of the place. The nurses there or the medics are all on top of my husband's medication. The caregivers are very attentive and they speak to me every time I come in. I did a walk-through on another community here in Clovis, and I found that one to be loud and chaotic, whereas here, it seems to be calmer. When they do their activities, they include everybody in the facility and it's one activity at a time. The staff is wonderful. The presentation of the food and the combination of what they give them, as far as nutrition, is fine but the taste is terrible. The activities are very good, especially on Sundays. They take the residents that are capable for an hour every Sunday, to get them out on a nice drive to the mountains and stuff, which I think is wonderful. In terms of value for the money, they're all expensive. Things go missing but he's in a memory clinic and people are up and walking around, wandering and stuff.

I went to Carmel Village at Clovis. I thought the price was right. They were very nice and caring, and the facility looked nice. The staff was very knowledgeable and nice. The room was spacious, very clean, bright, and had windows. There was a salon and a patio. The dining area was nice and very clean. I thought it was excellent.

My dad moved into Carmel Village at Clovis last week. He's loving it. I saw him last night, and he's adjusting to quasi-communal life from being on his own, and he's doing good. It's probably one of the nicer facilities in the area. They're very attentive to my dad's needs. The dining area is communal dining. He is in what they call a studio suite. So he's in a one-bedroom, one bath suite-style room. They've got an outdoor patio area that has picnic tables and chairs. It's a great facility for him. The staff is very friendly. They do weekly activities. They also have weekly entertainment. So they have outside entertainers come in as far as activities go. They have in-house exercise classes. They go on weekly lunchtime trips, so they'll take whoever wants to go, put them on their bus, and transport them to a restaurant. I was not able to eat there, my older brother and my dad did, and that was one of the reasons why he chose Carmel Village. That was probably the final decision.

The staff were very welcoming. The marketing director took great care in making my MIL feel welcome. She was very informative and explained all the details of Carmel village thoroughly. The care for my MIL has given us a peace of mind . We know she will be taken care of, she’ll be safe and will receive all the Assistance she needs!!

Carmel Village at Clovis is one where the building was beautiful. I toured a higher-level room and a memory care room and they were all just beautiful. It just wasn't a good fit for my mom. She just needed a smaller place and that was the only reason why I didn't choose Carmel Village. My mom's too low-level and they're just a big place but it was very nice. They had a beauty salon, a dining room, and an outdoor patio. They had a shuttle service that would take people in and out of the community, which my mom wouldn't have been able to do. Those are the things I saw. They also have a family living room, a gathering place, or something. All of those were very nice. Things were pretty closed down though so there weren't a lot of crafts or any activities going on.

I went to Carmel Village at Clovis last month. We walked through all the facility. They showed us the rooms. They sat down, and that's about it. It's a pretty new place. When we walked in, it's like a high-end motel somewhere. It's really fancy. It wasn't like a homey place for us. The lady was really nice to us when we took the tour. It's set up with hallways, and when you come out, you're in a hallway. You have to figure out which way to go. You can get confused about where you're going. They have a garden area out back. It's a really big facility, and the prices they're asking is outrageous.

My uncle and aunt moved into Carmel Village at Clovis. My uncle made the decision and he liked the cottage they showed us. I've eaten there a few times with them, it's pretty good, but the desserts are terrible, and they're clearly purchasing their desserts. But the other food they have on the regular menu is pretty decent, they like it, and that's all that matters. The staff is okay, the cottage has had ants infestation, and there were a few things that were not working, other than that they like the spaciousness of the cottage. They have a nice walk-in closet, 2-bedrooms, and 2-bathrooms, nice, spacious living room, and so they're satisfied with it. When we arrived, my aunt and uncle were the first African-American residents there, the staff mistook them and wanted to know why they're there, and when I told them they were residents, they gave an inappropriate comment, because they didn't know they were tenants. I think it's overpriced for a small apartment with a little patio, and they only get one meal a day, because they had a kitchen and a stove.

Carmel Village has been a positive experience for my father. Everyone knows him and has positive things to say about him. He has many opportunities to socialize with the other residents and the facility provides many opportunities for the residents to come together as a community. Another great aspect is the number of opportunities Carmel Village creates for families of the residents join their loved ones. Some of those include super bowl parties and holiday dinners. They do a nice job building community and helping everyone to feel part of that community no matter how long they have lived there. They also have a wonderful salon that takes care of the residents needs from hair to nails and even a shave. I would be remiss if I did not mention the great job the food service does there.The food is wonderful and the staff are very accommodating for each resident and their tastes. Once again, they all know each residents name and after a small time, there likes and dislikes in foods. My family has truly enjoyed our time here at Carmel Village and have no plans to go anywhere else! ✓ COPIED

Carmel Village at Clovis was topnotch. The people were very friendly and it was fairly new. The whole place looked nice, but their prices were just too high. The guy that showed us around seemed very nice, very interested, and he explained everything about the place and showed us several different rooms. The rooms were very nice, big, and there was plenty of area. They had coffee and cookies and the people that live there could get them anytime if they wanted a snack or something.

My aunt is a resident at this beautiful community located in Clovis, Ca. The Care has improved so much since the new resident care coordinator has taken position. I believe her name is Pauline. Also, the amenities are fantastic such as dining and the activities. Brandon is a has been a great asset at Carmel Village and his enthusiasm with the residents is something that should be seen in every Senior living community. His way of handling situations is with so much dignity. The food has definitely improved since the new Chef Eddie came to the community. Things are definitely improving at Carmel Village. Not just for my aunt but for all the residents as well. It helps to have a director who knows what they are doing as well so that’s a plus!

My room at Carmel Village at Clovis was very small and difficult to get around in. The caregivers were good, but there weren't enough of them. They're seriously understaffed. They had a library and activity room, and the activities were a big disappointment since they were mostly boring. The activity director is always doing other things.

I liked Carmel Village at Clovis because they would take my dog. The apartment was very spacious, and it had a hot tub, which was a big plus for me. They also had memory care, assisted living, and independent living. They had a garage attached to the apartment with an alarm and security guard. It's the best place I found, but it was too far away from my family. The place looked brand new, but I prefer a better climate.

We liked Carmel Village very much, but we put down a deposit and were not able to get it back. We loved the town, the condominium layout, and the size. We liked the fact that it was new, had happy people, and was close to the town. They had a library. The marketing director made us feel very much like family. We were treated very well, and the fee was affordable for us.

My Dad has lived here for about 2 years. Food was good at the beginning but has steadily worsened since. There hasn't been a Director on site for several months!

Carmel Village at Clovis was fabulous. They provide high-amenities and high-end food. They have a one-bedroom, which is fairly big. I also saw a studio, and it was very bright, very light and clean. People are fabulous, and the amenities are amazing. This place is fabulous.

I toured Carmel Village while they were building independent living duplex cottages with their own parking garage, two bedrooms, two bathroom, a washer and dryer, a full kitchen with a breakfast bar, and patio. That is where I want to move to. The rooms are of a good size. They have a gym, art classes, sewing, and crafts. I have relatives nearby. If you move into the cottage, you prepare your own food, and if you want to eat in the dining room, the meals are $8 each, but I have not eaten there.

My brothers and I placed our Mother here when her health began to fail and she needed more care than was available in the independent-living facility she had lived in for the past 21 months. This is a fairly new assisted-living facility (opened in early 2015?) and is very well appointed with lots of community spaces for residents to gather, an exercise room, etc. Also, the dining area/kitchen is quite good with a flexible schedule and varied menu. The living units/apartments are also very nice. Our Mom chose a small 2-bedroom that was about the same square footage as the large 1-bedroom where she'd been. The staff, while a little green in some cases, was very alert and caring. And, there was a full-time nursing staff on duty, in shifts, 24/7. There is a "memory-care" facility being built directly behind the current facility and is due to open in July, 2016 and it's my understanding that those residents will share the dining room with the assisted living residents. That could be a potential problem as they seemed a little pushed to keep up with their current residents, and that's at about 65% occupancy. But I don't hesitate to recommend Carmel Village for anyone looking for assisted living. The staff is very caring and attentive and the facility itself is A+.

Carmel Village at Clovis is quite an open facility, and the staff was fine. I think they could add a pool as they don’t have one.
