I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
I have moved into Bethany Retirement Community. The rooms vary from a studio to a two-bedroom, and I’m not too sure if any two rooms are the same, many different floor plans. It is an older building, and there have been renovations over the years. My furniture has not arrived yet, so they put me in a guest suite within their building, which is very nice. Mine is different, and I am thrilled because I have direct access to the outdoors towards a rooftop terrace. I’m on the second floor, and there is a projection of the first floor that provides a rooftop terrace for an outside unit, and it is very large. It has a double French door, and it is screened. I have a cat, so the cat can’t get out if I don’t want him to, but I can have all the fresh air coming in. They have some units that have stoves and some that do not, and I got a stove. The unit that I’m living in right now has a full-sized refrigerator freezer, but the one that will be in my unit is under the counter, and it isbrand new. I will be the first one to have used it. And I will have a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub, which pleases me because I crack my shin on the bathtub all the time so I am very happy about that. The food is not the quality that it should be in my opinion. There is plenty of it and plenty of variety and you have options and you can say the day ahead what you want for dinner the next night, but clearly there is no chef in-charge. It is physically attached to a hospital.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
The Bethany Retirement Community is located at 4950 North Ashland Avenue inChicago, Illinois. It sits near a strip mall and grocery store which is convent for its residents. Its visiting hours start and end at a decent time and is a very average retirement facility, nothing special. It has adequate sized living spaces so its a good value for the amount of money it cost to stay there. There are also special activities the seniors can participate in on the weekend such as bingo games, book club meetings, dancing etc. Most of the staff has medical experience so they are prepared to handle an emergency should one arise. They also genuinely care for the residents and have their best interest at heart. While it is not a five star upscale facility, its kind hearted staff an well thought out activities make up for any of the short Cummings the facility has.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
I think It is a very nice place of the elderly to live. The have a lot of services that they provide to the resident, such as transportation, a beauty shop/barber shop and worship services. the also have this for the resident to do such as movies, bingo, and other activities. from the apartments that i've seen they have lovely floor plans. As soon as you walk in you get a welcoming feeling from the employes there. I had lunch with my family member there, and i can say that the food wasnt bad. I hope when i get older that i am able to live in a place as nice as this

I visited this facility
I instantly liked this place, feeling as if I had walked into an architectural treasure rather than a retirement home. From the outside it is easy to miss because Bethany Retirement Community blends in with the rest of the neighborhood. Once you're inside the facility feels like an old hotel, and not in a bad, musty way. There are chandeliers in the the lobby along with a Baby Grand piano and a fountain. The dining room is simple, but lovely, with light green curtains that are draped in an old fashioned style. The best part were the apartments themselves. At least in the one unit I saw, there was a cozy living room and kitchen, but the great surprise was the bedroom -- it was huge, almost a studio in itself. If you are mobile, the Bethany offers a great deal on the premises. There is an arts and crafts room, a library with dark wood and a fireplace which houses books, magazines and computers. There is also a welcoming little coffee shop called the Behive. I have a feeling that there is a lot of Irish people who reside here because of all the St. Patrick's day decorations, but the residents seemed quite diverse. Outside there a lovely enclosed park which should be welcoming in the next couple of months. Around the corner is the Methodist Hospital and I am assuming there is some connection here. As I said, I liked this place and the staff were very friendly.
