Holiday Ashley Park is a small community, which I like. I had a good feeling when I walked in. The people that manage it and run it are very nice and very helpful. There are two companies that help individuals who need extra help, which we use for my mother. They have good food and good activities. They're remodeling at present time which will take about six months, but they still make everything work fine for the meals downstairs and all. It has been a really good experience. My mother is there for independent living, but they offer extra companies you can hire that are there 24/7 to assist people who need extra help. She has a studio apartment. The studios can be situated differently, but basically the same footage. We upgraded a little bit for her to have a view of the courtyard. The staff members are wonderful.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Holiday Ashley Park is a good place. It could use an update of the carpeting in the public areas. Other than that, it's pretty nice. I've met some great people here so far. The meals are given on time, and it's pretty good. The dining room is nice, and the activities are great. I just recently joined a choir. There's also a dance class here. I just got here, so I haven't really participated in a lot of activities. The move-in process was pretty easy and straightforward. I have a one-bedroom apartment, and the layout is ideal for me. I love the fact that the bathroom is actually inside the bedroom. The appliances, the refrigerator, and the apartment were cleaned upon my entry. The transportation to get to my doctor's appointment is one of my major concerns. What I was told is not what it actually turns out to be. So, that was a huge, huge disappointment.

I've visited Holiday Ashley Park. They're independent living but they have a service where you pay for nursing separately onsite. We talked to the head of the nurse staff there who was willing to talk with you and wasn't scared of the multiple things my brother had going on. We took a tour and the facility was great. The salesperson was very knowledgeable, they all seemed to know the residents by name. She gave us various multiple options of rooms that seemed very nice. we were looking mostly at 1-bedrooms, and the 1-bedrooms were very nice-sized. I saw the residents playing balloon volleyball, they seemed in good spirits. We did some more true touring and when we got back, they were having ice cream. It seemed like a nice mix of ages. The cafeteria or dining hall seemed big and seemed like there were a lot of food options. The staff also did a follow-up on us after the visit.

We were not impressed at all with Holiday Ashley Park. The facility looked old and the grounds weren't all that well-kept. There were a lot of leaves along the walkways. When we came inside, it had the feel of a nursing home. That was a little depressing and the residents that we saw didn't seem to have too much joy being there. The one staff person that we met was the office manager. She was polite, but not overly accommodating. She was just taking us on a tour and answering our questions, but nothing more than that. The room that she took us on a tour had just been vacated by a previous resident, so it hadn't been cleaned or market ready. So, it was a little dirty and we weren't impressed with that at all.

I think Holiday Ashley Park was a little dated. It just seemed old. The people that we met were very nice, but they needed a paint job. It just wasn't what we were looking for. The staff who gave us the tour was very nice. I don't remember her name, but she was very knowledgeable. But we kind of lost our interest in it when we saw the facilities. They showed us a two-bedroom. It had a very large balcony that went around probably at least two sides of the apartment. That apartment had been painted and was getting ready for new tenants. The kitchen was nonexistent. It was a fridge and a cupboard. The bathrooms seemed nice. They were newly painted. They showed us a facility for working out. It was a hallway with some bicycles and treadmills and that type of thing. They have a bus that takes you to various places, Target and Walmart, and that type of thing. We didn't see it; they just told us about it. I think they had a movie night and they had bridge, and some other things. I think it was very clean, but I think it needed a paint job. A facility like that needs to be painted more frequently than a house would need painting just because of the number people it serves.

I toured the Holiday Ashley Park, and that one was terrible. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody because it stunk. Down the halls, in the rooms, it smelled awful, and that's the first thing that turned me off. Then we went down the halls into empty rooms, but the smell was the same in every place. It smells like old people and that was terrible. I think they should remodel the place and take everything out, if they do that, it'll make it a nice place. The staff who gave the tour was very helpful and very good. She knew that the smell was turning off people. They had scheduled lots of stuff for the residents to do, so that's pretty good. They had amenities like a gym and a card room.

Since the pandemic they have had a little trouble keeping kitchen staff. Otherwise this place is great! Super value for your loved one. Excellent location. Priced well. The caring staff and range of activities make it a home.

My parents have been residents of Ashley Park for almost four years. They enjoy their spacious apartment, and their private porch. It is comforting to know that they are fed well, and have a daily routine that keeps them active. They enjoy maintaining their independence through scheduling the community van for trips to a grocery store or medical appointments, since they can no longer drive. My parents really like the current management team, who makes themselves available to help or address any of their concerns. My family and I are very pleased with my parents being at Ashley Park, and hope they can maintain their health for as long as possible.

Ashley Park were a bit more open. As far as the space, they were spaced out. It was more spacious. I liked the facility and the apartment. The way it was set up, it was really, really nice. They had a little balcony where my mom could possibly sit outside and see the courtyard from where she was. It was really nice, and that was a strong point. The staff member was very friendly. She took her time. I've even gotten like three or four follow-up calls from them. They don't offer continuing care. For independent living, it is a five. They were doing a little festival that was going to come up, and the staff invited me back for that. They have a game room, a movie room, a library, and a TV room, and they used that room for church services as well. They would give them some alert button to wear around their neck.

Ashley Park was very nice, very friendly, and very well-kept. The rooms looked comfortable and well cared for. The food was very good, attractive, and nourishing. They had a variety of games and activities going on. They have baseball, bean bag baseball, some mind games, and puzzles. The surroundings were attractive.

I visited this facility

Ashley Park was an older facility, but it's small. It's not a very large place. It didn't have exactly what we were looking for. We wanted a two-bedroom place with perhaps a balcony and a swimming pool. They had a nice balcony, but no swimming pool. The two-bedroom was OK, but a little on the small side. We didn't particularly care for having the AC unit sitting against the wall on the floor. We're used to central heat and air. To have a unit in each room just sitting takes up part of the wall space. It's OK if you are comfortable with a very small place. It had no kitchen. It just had a small counter on which you could put a microwave. It did have a refrigerator and a cabinet, that was it. We were looking for a kitchen. They had one kitchen downstairs on the main floor, which was a community thing, but I don't think I'd be very comfortable going down there and cooking an entire turkey. They have people down that will cook like lasagna and then offer it to everybody. I hate to think that I'm just going to cook a turkey for my husband. That would be awkward because of the aroma. The rooms were very small, although one of them was OK. The guest bedroom was larger than we thought. It looked larger than the master bedroom, which seemed odd. They served us lunch, but it's not really for our taste. It was edible and all but a small portion. It was like a real tiny slab of roast pork, no seasonings, no sauce, no gravy, whatever. The salad was just a couple of pieces of lettuce and some ranch dressing. I call it airplane food. I know they're feeding people who are 90. We looked around and we thought we were the youngest people there. The majority is very old. Everyone was just like sitting in their chairs or wheelchairs, being very quiet and not very lively. They had a lady sit with us, she was 82, and it was a very good conversation. They call her the ambassador for Ashley Park. In fact, this was her second time. She sits with a visitor, which is helpful. She gives more of a history of the place. It was good that they did that. She's very welcoming, very polite and friendly. The rooms were a little on the small side and had no kitchen, that's kind of a dealbreaker. Other than that, the food was a little on the bland side, but I realized it's for older people. They probably can't do a lot of spicy. It's fine for someone who's 90 and doesn't have a lot of possessions or isn't into a lot of activity. It's good for that, but not for a younger person who would like to get out and do things. There's a hiking trail, but it didn't look like much. It's right by Ashley River Road, which is a very high-traffic highway. I like their outside balcony, it's the largest I've seen. Even in a hotel or condo, it's a good size. I was very impressed, but if you're sitting out there, you've got the constant traffic. There are a little bit of woods and then there's the highway. The place is on the corner of Ashley River Road and Tobias Gadson. It's at the intersection of a very busy highway. The noise would still bother us, probably not anyone with hard of hearing. If you need a hearing aid, it wouldn't bother you. We're looking for a quieter atmosphere, but I was impressed. They had an attentive staff. They had a lot of positives.

We went to Ashley Park yesterday. I liked best probably the attention people are surrounded with, and I liked least the lack of common places. I believe there are only three common areas, and all are pretty small. Also, there's not enough natural light. The staff was knowledgeable about what they're talking about. They tried to show all of the good things about their homes, and they were very helpful in finding helpful things for me. Most of the apartment looked at the courtyard. In the courtyard, there is always an activity. People walk their dogs there. They grill there. I don't believe they grill every day, but there is a possibility for this. It's kind of a communal apartment. You are exposed to a lot of sounds, which is not necessary. You can consider that people at this age cannot really hear well. If you try to recover after the illness and try to get a nap, you are so exposed to many sounds unnecessarily.

The rooms are lovely. My parents made it their home. The staff has been exemplary in these trying times. It is a careful balance between safety and living your best life. The activities are great, inclusive, age appropriate based on ability. Crossword, puzzels, art, social parties, music by talented musicians, bingo, games, plum much more.

My brother has moved into Ashley Park. It is a quiet retirement living community with plenty of amenities, great chef, and fantastic and convenient location to medical and other services. I'm very pleased with the staff and all of the help aides. It was a smooth transition for my brother. He's in a studio, but they have 1-bedroom, 2-bedrooms, and studios. They have many choices. For their activities, I think they have little communities and things they do for the residents. They provide all the meals for them as well, which I thought was great. They have an exercise room, a courtyard, a library, and a video or movie room.

My mother moved into Ashley Park. It's satisfactory, the room is fine, and the staff is relatively attentive. It's not bad. They have musicians that come in, they take people out, and they seem to have sufficient activities for people to get involved. The food is pretty good.

Ashley Park was OK, but I don't really see my loved one being happy there because she's too young. She wouldn't want to see a bunch of people lying around or in their wheelchairs. The interior was kind of dated. It's clean although there was some sort of a musty smell going through the hallways. It was very organized, but it had a very institutionalized feel. The staff who accommodated us during the tour was fine, I had no problems with them. I didn't see anything going on while I was there, but they had a board with listed activities. It was very clear that they don't put any money into the interior of the apartments. They looked like they were from 1985. The activities were great. They need to update their apartments.

Ashley Park was clean. The staff during the tour was very friendly and very informative. I was a little disappointed in what they call their gym. It didn't have a treadmill. They had a game room and an activity area. They also showed me a board where you could sign out to do different things and another board if you needed transportation to places or doctors' appointments.

I have a client, and Ashley Park would have been a very good option. It was older, but it seemed to be a well-maintained, clean, and inviting atmosphere. I had a favorable impression of the facility. The facility was clean, everything seemed to operate and seemed to be new and in order. I saw a 1-bedroom; it was nice, clean, and furnished.

Ashley Park was an older place but very clean. You have access to all of the amenities and physical therapy if you need it. They had laundry service, which we thought was very good, plus washers and dryers with which you could do your laundry. They would come in once a week and change sheets. They have two couples that live on the premises who are the managers. It’s very different from a lot of the other places. They have memory care unit. They also had a bus that came three times a week, twice for grocery shopping and other times for the bank, and they will take you to doctors' offices, also. They have a very nice exercise ladies lady that comes in. Their package includes three meals a day. They showed us different rooms: one was a studio apartment which was rather small, a one-bedroom apartment, and a two-bedroom apartment that were all very nicely furnished. You can bring in your own furniture or you can rent theirs. It was a very nice place with lots of activities.

The residents that I spoke to at The Ashley Park actually sold that place for me. The only concern that I found was the parking. At the moment, I am severely handicapped because of back surgery, and it's going to take several years for me to get better. However, I really liked that place. I saw a one-bedroom apartment that was bigger than what I saw at the other place I visited. It had a bedroom, a living room, and a little kitchen. We sat with two residents of that facility who told us so much about their lives, and they were very friendly. The lady next to me said, "Move up to the third floor because we party all the time. Move up there with us." I said to my sister when we left, "You know that table and the table next to us sold me on that place." Even though I would have a problem with the parking, I would move in there.

I visited Ashley Park. It was wonderful, it was friendly, and it was awesome. The staff is great, friendly, and very helpful. The one bedroom was small, but the two-bedroom was fantastic; it was big with a big balcony and plenty of space. It was very expensive though. I had a meal with them, and it was wonderful and fun. The dining area was gorgeous and clean, and there were chandeliers everywhere. We talked with several residents, and they all seemed happy. It was a real nice environment. They had an activities room, they had things signed up for the afternoon, and they have crafts class.

The Ashley Park is part of the Holiday Retirement. We had lunch there, and the food was fantastic. It was just a very pleasing meal. Everything was great, but it was a tad on the expensive side. It was an excellent place, and I could move in there tomorrow. I'm not going to, but I was very much impressed. We looked at a living room and bedroom combination. It was adequate and smaller than what we have right now, but it is one of the reasons you want to move. They are fairly busy, and they had a whole month's program up on the board. Every day was filled up, so there are lots of activities. Cleanliness was very good. I could move in tomorrow because it is everything you'd ever want, but it is expensive. So I got to figure out if I can afford it. I didn't see anything they need to improve except to cut down on the cost. That would be a nice thing to do.

Ashley Park was wonderful. Everybody was enthused about what they were doing and it seemed like they enjoyed their job. They have Bingo and throw-the-ball; they do church services; they have outside activities where they go places -- those are just a few of the activities that I can remember. I liked that everything was inclusive and that they didn't have to go outside to eat. Their three meals are prepared by a qualified chef. Someone comes into the rooms to take care of the linens and to clean it up whereas my mom and dad would have to do it all the time by themselves. The rooms were very nice and spacious. I know the manager is pretty hospitable. They were welcoming and everything -- they made sure that we had the opportunity to see everything. I got a follow-up call from them last week to see how the visit was and to know if they could assist me with anything else or how they could be of service to us. Everything about this place was very nice.

My mother lived at Ashley Park. When she died, we got a nice card from them. We've been gone for two years. I stopped by there to let them know that my mother had passed, and then later I got a card. They sent me some more pictures of them with my mother. It was only because my mother lost her sight that we moved her, but she loved it there. I was impressed. The CNAs and the ladies who were there are good. The only thing is that they not only care for the patients, they handed out the food. They were going in the kitchen, getting the plates, and bringing the plates back out. They were dispensing medicine. These folks who are not making that much money are pretty much doing everything. That place was exceptional.

The one I liked the most was Ashley Park. It was very nice; it was just like a very nice resort hotel. The food was prepared by a chef. I ate there, and the food was outstanding. The staff was great. There was a new couple who had not been there very long, and they were running the place. I really liked them very much. They had a couple of activity rooms and a library. She said they would take them shopping in the van, and they had all kinds of things planned all the time, so they had a lot going on. You would never get bored if you want something to do there.

What I didn't like about Ashley Park is that it's 185 miles from here; it is out of town. Also I didn't like that there was no continuum of care there. It was just a retirement community. But as far as the facility goes, it is a nice facility. They have different sizes of apartments that you can choose from and they have a calendar of activities for their residents. The best thing about it was that I know that my dad knows people there. Also Charleston is still familiar to him, so he is still in an area where he has friends and his church. Another thing I like about it was that he is getting meals there. When we found out about the meal plans, I believe this is something that my dad could take advantage of. However, the food I thought was a little unusual for that age group. Dad even mentioned that there were things on the menu that he had never heard of but he ate it and he liked it.

My mom has been living in Ashley Park for about a year. It's very clean, of decent size and the food is okay. The only difference is you have to bring the services in and that's what we've elected to do because my mother seemed very happy there. They do provide the meals and some house cleaning services but the level of care is only for independent living.
