I visited this facility

My brother will be moving into Atria Carrollton. Everybody seemed happy and all the residents seemed really upbeat. It was just a very nice feeling that you got when you walked in. Everybody was smiling and laughing. The person who gave me the tour, I loved her. She was very informative. She talked to everybody as she walked. Everybody had such a positive attitude, all the residents and the staff and everything. I loved the room. I was looking at a studio, it's very spacious, and within my brother's budget. All of that together is why we wanted to go there. They have activities. All day long, every single day, they have some kind of activity. They have Wii games (my brother loves that), bingo, and stuff like that. The staff member who gave me the tour was very good.

Close to family. The friendliest place I’ve ever been to. Staff members are always willing to help because they want to not because they get paid to do so. They are like family.

I love Atria so much for my Nana, she gets to continue her social life in a safe place... I know she's getting the help she needs but she still feels independent in her own apartment. She loves that she still has a happy hour to go to every week!

I have my parents and Mother-in-law at Atria Carrollton. We've been there almost two years, both in Assisted Living and Memory Care. The staff is so kind and helpful, both to us and our parents! The ease of medical care was the biggest initial benefit over our previous Independent Living facility. Managing doctors and wound care was traumatic before, often requiring more extreme medical care because they didn't have the close monitoring available at Atria.Navigating the aging process can be challenging, but the Atria staff have been helpful and supportive. They've worked with me to help find new solutions for changing needs, whether that is some modification they will try or something new the family can try. They were all so helpful when the family needed to consider and then make both moves to Memory Care, providing assessment, information, understanding and even ideas to make the move smoother. Dianna

I have my parents and Mother-in-law at Atria. We've been there almost two years, both in Assisted Living and now Memory Care. The staff is so kind, helpful, upbeat, and supportive both for us and our parents! The staff bring such a brightness to me and often help reset my mood on the way in; I really appreciate that our parents also benefit from their upbeat kindness! The feel of the building is a little old-fashioned, and I think that helps our parents feel at home - they are a little old-fashioned, too. My parents are in a Memory Care room together, so it is a little snug, but most other places couldn't even accommodate them and 2 walkers. Our parents enjoy meals with their friends. My MIL loves the MC garden (it is really nice!) and enjoys movie nights and mainly watches other activities, though she is welcomed and feels comfortable. At this stage, we most appreciate the seamless care and communication between doctors, nurse, home health, and staff; that has done wonders for their health and everyone's peace of mind.

I went to see the Atria in Carrollton and it was very good. The staff was very friendly and informative. They were probably the key to why we like the facility so much. The staff is pretty important to us. The assisted living facility is adequate, I would say. It's as pretty and nice as it gets. The rooms are a little small, but we thought the place was very clean. It was a great location for us too.

I visited this facility

We went to the Atria Carrollton, which we really liked. They do quite a bit there. They supply all the meals. It was very clean, fresh, and well-maintained, and it had a positive aura, too. The rooms were very nice, very bright, clean, and simple, and it had organized space and good amenities. The staff was delightful, and I really liked her. She was very upbeat, very positive, and very straightforward. The dining area was nice. They have an open area, and they are willing to work with you because my mother is a picky eater. When we were there, they were actually in their room where they were working on potting some little plants, so they were doing a little botanical activity there. The facilities were very good. The location was good, and it is in a safe environment. The Atria Carrollton is our first choice.

My father-in-law was in Atria Carrollton. They were wonderful there, he stayed two weeks there before he passed away, but they were really, really nice. I would highly, highly recommend it. I would highly recommend Anne, the lady that helped us in the beginning; she was also wonderful. They were doing in-room stuff for activities because of Covid, but very little. They took him to the porch, and he loved that.

Amazing people. I stayed at Atria for 6 months and enjoyed my time very much. The food was amazing and we even went on community trips together.

My tour of Atria Carrollton was very good. The place was very clean, but very old and musty, and the rooms were too small, so it was not what my parents need. The food was excellent. It was a good atmosphere. The staff seemed very nice and very attentive. They've got a patio and a garden that were very lovely. It's very well maintained.

We are very pleased with Atria Carrollton. It's the one we like the best, which happens to be the cheapest too. It is big, but it is not huge. It has a very homey atmosphere. The staff members are very attentive and very friendly. The apartments are very nice. My sister fits right in. She has a 1-bedroom. She has a microwave and a refrigerator. All the meals are included. The dining room doesn't have a specific time, which is nice when you get hungry at two. The food is very good. They have great activities that meet everybody's needs. They have a balance class and a yoga class, they have a very nice small courtyard, and rocking chairs on the front porch. They have a color coded system for their activities. Like if you're looking for something that has to do with games, with exercise, or with memory, they have a system there.

My mother was happy at Atria Carrollton. It was decent. She got to the point where she needed a little bit more care than they could give her with dementia and being legally blind. The food was great. Being legally blind, it was rough, but she did go and play bingo where they helped her play; it was her favorite thing to do.

Mom moved into Atria, and it has a good feeling to it. Clean, good-sized rooms, very comfortable, well-maintained. The staff seems very attentive and very friendly. She seems to be doing well with the social aspect of the place. There's a long list of activities every day. The food is OK. Sometimes it's like eating at home. Sometimes you like it, sometimes you don't, but honestly, the food could be better. Sometimes it's very good. I think most of the residents there will agree that they would like more seasoning. Pretty bland. She feels good about the place. She has made some friends there.

Atria was absolutely terrible. My wife is a phasic. She has front temporal lobe dementia, so she doesn't talk. They ended up causing her all kinds of trouble. There were all kinds of bruises, she was dirty and not bathed like she should have been. They had some activities, but I thought they were very limited. The residents spent most of the day watching television. They would play bingo once in a while. My wife was actually hysterical the day I picked her up. If my personal trainer had not been there to help that day, I wouldn't even know that she had problems. She had black and blue marks on her feet, her hands, back, and on her hip. It was an awful place. I'm just totally upset with the entire environment over there.

I am a friend or relative of resident

We had such high expectations for this facility. It was our first choice due to small memory care facility, fantastic tour, room layout, and dynamic administrators we met on tour. In less than 5 months, we have removed our loved one from the facility. There has been turnover in key roles so perhaps in the future improvement will be possible. But our experience was the TV in the one and only sitting area is on constantly with few other engaging activities, laundry has come back with stains, aides congregate together and enjoy each others' company but the residents may not be the focus, communucation with families is poor, there are many areas of disorganization and lack of leadership. Our loved one was in tears and we could not recommend this facility in its current state. Huge changes are essential. My heart goes out to the lovely tv-babysat residents who have to stay.

Provider Response

I thought that the facility had a very supportive and "homey" feel. The amenities were acceptable but I didn't feel that there was anything to luxurious about the facility. The activity room where I was most of the time was nice enough and we had a lot of fun with the residents. It seems to be an active community where the residents are encouraged to participate in activities such as playing board games, Wii Bowling or "bingo night". Overall I am very pleased with the facility.

Friend or relative of resident

I visit a family friend at this facility every week, and it is one of the better facilities that I have been to. The Atria is clean, and the room that my friend stays in is nice. She actually has quite a bit of room where she stays. However, I am concerned that the staff is a bit aloof. It is a struggle getting them to, well, assist the residents. My friend is particularly needy (she has dementia) and asks quite a bit of them because she needs more help than some of the other residents. Honestly, she is not happy there, and I wish I could do something about it. It's not the worst place a family member can end up, but I hope the staff is more compassionate toward the residents in the future.

Provider Response

Thank you for your feedback. We always appreciate hearing from friends and family so that we can constantly improve the service we provide to our residents. Visitors who spend time at our community often provide the best insights, and for that we are very grateful. I am sharing your review with the appropriate person at Atria Carrollton who can help make sure that your friend's needs are consistently met. If you would like to talk further, we welcome you to email us directly at customerservice@atriaseniorliving.com and include the Atria community name in your message.
