Describe your community's overall population of independent living residents. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?
Our age demographic is 55 years old plus. Our average age is 75 to 85 years old although we have residents in their 90s. Our seniors are vibrant and active. Some of our residents have walkers or other assistance devices. Some of the activities our residents enjoy are bingo, baking, arts and crafts, attending outside events and cultural activities, Silver Sneakers, luaus and Jazz concerts.
What places are nearby for independent living residents to enjoy?
We are located in North Versailles, PA which is highly populated with access to shopping, restaurants and cultural opportunities. We are minutes away from Walmart, Target, pharmacies and the Monroeville Mall. Our complimentary transportation allows our residents to take advantage of all of the opportunities in the Monroeville and surrounding communities. We regularly take our residents to the mall, grocery shopping, to the pharmacy, breakfasts at local restaurants, doctors offices, Target and Walmart to name a few.
What are some recent off-site events that your community activity director has organized?
We have gone to the Casino, downtown Pittsburgh for the Symphony, the Monroeville Mall to a local Farmers Market. We took our residents to Oglebay to see the Christmas lights. We have taken our residents to the Meadows. We have gone out to breakfasts and have gone out shopping in the local malls and shops. We have had trips to the Tangier Outlet mall. We have taken our residents to local church events and to the YMCA.
What transportation services do you offer to independent living residents?
Because we understand the importance of transportation to keep active and engaged, transportation services are included in your monthly rent. We have both a small vehicle for transporting to doctor appointments or errands and we also have a van to take groups of our residents to the theatre or community outings. Our transportation services include transportation to doctor appointments which we will both drive and pick up to give peace of mind to both the resident and their family members. We will drive our residents to church services on Sundays or church gatherings so they remain close to their support systems.
What makes your chef or dining program exceptional? What kind of menu can independent living residents expect?
The Residence at Logan is proud to offer our Signature Dining Program. We believe that dining is one of the most important aspects in a resident life. In addition to our 3 meals daily served restaurant style, we offer 24-hour access to our Grab and Go which is located in our Bistro. This is stocked with fresh salads, soups, sandwiches, bagels, and meals which can be heated in our Bistro or taken back to the apartment. We also offer our All-Day Cafe which provides cookies, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Our Chef prepares meals daily from scratch and uses locally sourced, fresh ingredients. Our Signature Dining Program also includes monthly Candlelight Dinners where we turn the lights down and decorate with candles. Residents get dressed up and we have entertainment. We serve special meals including wine and appetizers. We also do monthly Theme Dinners to keep eating a fun and nutritious event.
What common areas are available for independent living residents?
We have many common areas that and we encourage our residents to invite friends and family to enjoy these common spaces. Outside your apartment door is a variety of common areas to enjoy and to help our residents keep active and socializing. We have aBilliards Room with a pool table and table shuffle board where you will find our residents competing in billiards. We have a Pub which can be reserved for private dining with family and friends for special occasions or just to have a get-together. , WE have a state-of-the-art Fitness Center where our residents can walk on a treadmill or use the free weights to remain strong. Our Beauty Salon and Spa is an area where our residents can get hair cuts and sets and even manicures and pedicures. We have a beautiful Library and Computer Center with two computer stations with access to Wi-Fi.. Additionally we also have an outside Courtyard and Gazebo, a Non Denominational Chapel and a bright and airy activities room with a full kitchen.
What safety features or security measures do you offer to your independent living residents?
We have live-in managers who are accessible 24/7 for any unforeseen emergencies. Each bathroom is equipped with grab bars and step-in showers. Additionally, we have pull cords in the bathroom, bedroom and living area that gives access to our 24-hour Emergency Call System. We have security cameras inside and outside and doors are locked every evening for another layer of security. We also provide complementary safety pendants for each resident that immediate alerts a live-in manager if triggered.
If your community accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
The Residence at Logan is located in a quiet, residential area away from busy highways so our residents can have peace of mind knowing they can walk their dogs safely. We have plenty of grass and wooded areas for walking dogs around our community.
Does the community work with an agency or registry to provide nursing and medical assistance as needed?
Our goal is to keep you in your home as long as possible. For this reason, we have strong relationships with Home Health agencies to help our residents if they need assistance with medications, bathing, dressing or other needs. We find that these services allow our residents to remain in our community as their healthcare needs increase and that although we are an independent retirement community, we have access to agencies that can provide higher levels of care on-site.. We also have relationships with Hospice organizations with the goal of keeping our residents in their home.
