Holiday Bellevue Garden was awesome. Their prices were cheaper than the other places. The staff was amazing. Everything was just beautiful and lovely about it. The rooms were very nice. I went over the menus in the kitchen and the dining room, and it all looked delicious. They had a good selection of food. The chef was nice. It seemed like he worked at making really tasty, attractive, and healthy meals for the residents. The amenities were great. If I could afford it, I would have moved in there.

We went and toured Holiday The Garden Club. We walked around and looked at the layout of the building. It was a very nice and very well-kept place. They had some nice apartments. They had some two-bedroom apartments, which was what we were looking for. I didn't get the impression there were very many amenities there. I didn't get the impression they had group activities so much as they were just apartment-type living. They had a courtyard in there, and it was nice, but I didn't get the impression they were serving dinners and stuff like that because I don't remember seeing a big eating area going on. It was a very nice place, but the other community was offering quite a bit more than they were offering. The staff who assisted us were very nice though.

The Garden Club was at an intersection of two arterials, and it was dropped down below the intersection, so the cars are whizzing by, right outside the windows. It's not an area where I'd ever want to live. They got a washer and dryer in the unit. The fellow that showed us around said he hadn't known that we were coming to tour and the person who usually would take us around wasn't there. He complained the whole time about having to show us around. They have rides to events and a pool table. It's independent living only, so you have to go down the hall to do the laundry. The units were quite terrible.

Hi, Annette, Thanks for taking time to share your experience. If you'd like to talk more, please feel free to email us.

I liked The Garden Club, but it doesn't provide a lot of the transitional sort of services. Basically, you get meals and activities. Other than that, you're on your own. It was a little nicer than the other place. For about $400 more a month, you got a studio apartment, which was much, much smaller. Therefore, I'm sure my mother will be happier where she's going. The upkeep was good mostly (not 100%), but it was nice. No red flags, and everything seemed fine. It was encouraging. I think my mother could have gone there very easily, but she didn't get the transitional aspect. The other place has more care to offer. I looked at their menu, which looked just fine. They served their big meal in the middle of the day and had a light dinner. It's a fine choice for independent living, especially in terms of value for money.

We had an excellent tour of The Garden Club. I think they had some vacancies because there weren't a lot of people around. I loved the location of the facility, and they had protocols in place for COVID. Their dining area looked exceptional too. I looked at a refurbished small apartment. I believe they're putting in bigger refrigerators, but they're updating and downsizing to almost a Pullman kitchen. Most of us at my age don't want a Pullman kitchen. We want a kitchen, so that apartment really wouldn't have done well for us, but it was quite bright with a patio. There were a lot of people who were maybe twenty-five years older than I am, so it's an older community. Right now, they don't have that "younger group" of old people in yet. I love the person who is running the facility. I believe they have new ownership, and they are working with the new owners.

We went to The Garden Club. We thought everything on it would be checked at the highest level. The person who accompanied us was excellent, personable, and pleasant, and they answered all our questions. They had a good relationship with all the residents and knew their names -- and even their dogs names! It couldn't have been better. We saw five different apartment plans, we had lunch, and it was delightful.

I feel like the staff goes above and beyond to take care of my father. It's very gratifying to know he's in caring hands. Especially in this up-in-the-air time of hardship, I really appreciate the efforts made to take care of residents. I hope all the staff are staying safe and able to find their own respite in these unsettling times. I hear that food is now being served on reusable plates, which is much appreciated. Thanks Garden Club!

The Garden Club looked nice. The apartments were a nice size and had good layouts. The dining area was just a big area. They have a library. The staff seemed very nice and the place seemed clean.

This place is horrible. I am very concerned for my relative. It's gone terribly downhill over the past year. The food is not only poor, it is unhealthy (no diabetic options, no vegetables) and dinner is usually a half sandwich and a cup of soup. Some days not even that! they do not do the housekeeping as scheduled (not even 2x/mo). The garbage piles up. there is NO staff at night. The management keeps claiming "Sysco didn't deliver"--which means the GC doesn't pay its bills! Do NOT put your relatives here. Oh, and it's exorbitantly expensive!

Provider Response

Hi, we are sad to read about your poor experience with us. Our chef works to offer a variety of full sized options on the menu including sandwiches, healthy alternatives, and diabetic friendly desserts. Residents receive light housekeeping multiple times a month. If you have more details about your time with us you would like ti share please reach out to us to discuss this further.

The Garden Club is a terrific place and I feel very good about it. They've encouraged my sister to make friends, she's far more active, and she's getting exercise every day. They're very loving, caring, energetic, and wonderful people. The staff members are very warm, kind, attentive, and they try to solve any problems swiftly. They're fairly reasonably priced. When I walked in, people were gathered together talking and a number of them had dogs. It felt like a place where people live and not just a place where people are warehoused. It's a place where people are continuing to have lives that reflect who they are and afford them dignity and an active engaged kind of life. They were having a sample sale in their common area and they were having a great time. They are prompt, courteous, good natured, and helpful. She has a little studio apartment. I've eaten there and the food was very good and there were options too. They have a craft room, go out once a week, have a gym, a library, movie nights, and parties. They get input from the residents and put together special things, like live music. It's a lively place. Cleanliness and maintenance are really good.

Provider Response

Hey Martha, we are thrilled your sister is continuing to actively age and be fulfilled at The Garden Club. Our mission is to provide amazing communities for seniors to be engaged and happy. We hope she calls us home for many years to come!

I visited the Garden Club, but it doesn’t come close to the quality of our house. The facilities are low quality, with low cost construction, but the amenities looked pretty decent. They would be adequate for an older person who is not able to get around much.

Provider Response

Hi Noel, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We are disappointed to hear that you are not satisfied with your visit to The Garden Club. Your valuable feedback helps us improve for residents and guests. Thanks again.

My sisters and I are deeply grateful to the Garden Club because my father often tells us that he "really enjoys" living there. Several years ago, Dad sold our 50+ year family home in Bellevue so we were understandably concerned about this major life transition. However, we were quite surprised when Dad quickly settled in and was "very happy" with his beautiful new one bedroom apartment. He seemed relieved and unburdened too. It helped that one sister gave Dad an adorable live kitten for a housewarming gift, which he still loves. I highly recommend the Garden Club in Bellevue. The people who work there are wonderful and we enjoy meeting the residents too. Dad has his own kitchen and we often bring food, so I can't comment on the dining room. It was going through changes when he first arrived. Finally, our 25 year old son looked around & said he would like an apartment like his Grandfather's. It's quiet with a private entrance, garden view, kitchen, living room, office area, large bedroom, bathroom, lots of big closets, plus a friendly neighbor who shares her newspaper with Dad. The bottom line is that our Father is genuinely happy and independent with the perfect level of support.. Thank you Garden Club for helping our family during our hour of need.

Provider Response

Hi Pam, thank you so much for sharing these kind words on your father's experience at The Garden Club. We are glad to hear your father is doing so well, it's our goal to help older independent people live better. Please let us know if there is anything we can assist your or your father with. Hope to see you back soon! Have a wonderful day!

I toured The Garden Club, and it wasn't right for me. I liked the units a lot, but I didn't care for the location. The environment was very nice, the residents I met were very nice, but I think they have a lot of organizing to do. They have Wii bowling competitions, and they go to the movies, but their transportation doesn't have a wheelchair ramp. The restaurant needs a revamp. It's very disorganized, and you're sitting there a long time before you get served. The director of the facility was actually helping clearing the tables. They also have mandatory seating, which I don't like.

Provider Response

Hi Shirley, thank you for taking the time to rate and review our community. While we may have not been the right fit for you at this time, please keep us in mind if circumstances change and all-inclusive senior living is right for you. Thank you

I have moved into The Garden Club. They have been very nice and very friendly. They do have gluten-sensitive menus. I eat gluten-free, but a lot of times, there's nothing on the menu I can eat. Like yesterday, it was a mushroom burger on a bun, and I can't eat buns. They had stir-fry, and I asked them if the sauce was thickened with flour or with cornstarch, and they didn't know, so I couldn't eat that either. But they're all very friendly and very nice.

I have been here at The Garden Club for several months now. I find the food to be a bit too salty. They have a menu with a healthy choice every day but still has up to 700 mg of sodium in it. That is too much for me, and I cannot eat it. Other than that, there is a very good breakfast every day included in the monthly fee. Some people have one-bedroom apartments and a few people have two-bedroom apartments. The studio apartments are smaller than other apartments with bedroom. The Garden Club is a very nice place and retirement center.

My dad has been in Garden Club for a month now. It's a nice, roomy, airy, and well-lit place but expensive for what they offer. The dining room is very nice, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They could improve on the menu because the food is bland and ordinary and also improve on the overall maintenance of the building. They could use some capital to put into the building itself considering the amount the residents pay.

The Garden Club is great. You can bring in help if you need it. Everything is safe, clean, and upbeat. It’s just a really good place. My impression was this is just the best place. It was just a little too upscale for my mom because she is a very down-to-earth person. She likes something that’s more casual, and not too fancy so she won’t be comfortable in this kind of place. The dining area is clean. The rooms are nice too, and does not have that distinct smell. They have bingo. They have Bellevue Club basketball teams, and they travel to different places to play basketball against other teams. The staff who assisted me was great, and very accommodating.

We saw The Garden Club for my mother. I liked the place fine. It was probably my least favorite of the three I visited, though. The community was fine. The thing that impressed me the most was the Veterans Wall. We appreciated that. It looked like there were some good activities, like a karaoke thing that was going on; people seemed to be enjoying themselves. We only saw one room, and it was actually too small for my mom.

The staff was very good, and everybody seemed kind and friendly at The Garden Club. The rooms looked good, and the facilities were good. It was a good location. They seemed to offer many of the things that many of the other places offer. The only drawback that I would see is that my brother is a vegan, and there isn't a lot of flexibility on their menu. You can't order the food that you like, and there wasn't much of a selection, just a little bit of alternative. The rooms were nice, and they promoted a little bit of independence. They had a refrigerator and a microwave. They had a lot of good activities to draw you out of your room. They offered good cable TV, movie nights, various entertainment, and puzzles. They had an exercise room and a common social area in several places throughout the community, particularly on the main floor. It was a bit of an older crowd. My brother is 65, and he would be one of the younger people there. They also run shuttles to different activities as well as to the grocery store.

The Garden Club has quite a few couples, and that’s one thing we like better. The price is less, and we liked the dining room arrangement better in others because they had a two hour span that you could come in and eat. The meal is served at one time, and there’s 75 people in the in the dining room at one time so it gets noisy, but the food is good. There are tables, you order from the menu, and you have choices. Everybody was very courteous, and it has better access to outside areas for me to walk my dog.

I am happy with The Garden Club. It is not perfect, but nothing really is. They have a nice bunch of residents here. Holiday Retirement is a very big corporation. The locals have little authority, and I think that is where the problem starts. The criticism I have about the place is the orderliness. They are tight with money, and that is why it is difficult to get maintenance done. This particular facility has a parking space that is inadequate. I don't really have a problem with the food, but a lot of the residents complain about the high salt content. Other than that, I think this place is pretty well run. The three activities that get most of the people are bowling, bingo, and sing alongs. They also have bus rides. They do a mystery tour once a week. They also have a large group of health care providers who come in here for those residents who need it. I could say that the staff here is terrific. They are very pleasant and confident. I think very highly of all of them.

We were able to eat at The Garden Club (13350 SE 26th St). The food was OK, but it wasn't the greatest in the world. Their places were small, and that is one of the things that somewhat concerns me, but I loved the staff there. The staff is just fantastic. I liked the location there, too. I think it is a good location. It seems to be pretty convenient to everything. But I have to say that the staff was what really got me there. They were the ones that I was really excited about. I was also excited about some of the programs they had. They'd go for a Sunday afternoon drive sometimes, to get out and go somewhere or do something. They genuinely care about the people who live there. It's not just a job.
