Holiday Columbus Estates was nice and clean. The people that lived there looked pretty happy. They're very communicative. The only thing my mom didn't like was they didn't have a stove and they only had one refrigerator because they would provide meals to their residents 3 times a day. She likes to cook, so that was the only reason she didn't like it. But she liked the place, she said it was beautiful. Alex was very nice, very presentable, and very professional. He took us to the places and showed us what they do every day. They had hobbies. He was very patient.

I went to Holiday by Atria Columbus Estates. It was not what I was looking for. It's a lovely place but because it does not have any sort of medical staff or whatever, it was not of my interest. The floor plans and the apartments were very nice. To me, it's just more of a nice apartment complex for seniors, but it did not have the onsite services that I was interested in. They showed me the main lounge public spaces, an apartment, the grounds, and the parking area for your car and that type of thing. In terms of cleanliness and upkeep, it's very, very clean and well-kept up. The person who assisted me at that time during the tour was very helpful.

Holiday Columbus Estates has adequate visitor parking. The facility is very clean and very well maintained. They have great landscaping. It's a very calming environment. We met with a gentleman by the name of Derrick. He was extremely helpful and very informative. He took us for a tour of the facility. We met some of the residents who were very upbeat and positive about their experiences. He explained in detail the services they offer and the things that were available to us as a resident, and then he took me to show me a couple of units that he had available. We saw a studio apartment with a balcony, and then we saw a one-bedroom apartment with a balcony. They were extremely nice. It looked like they had recently been painted or upgraded because they smelled fantastic. They have very neutral decor, but again, very, very nice living arrangement. The only thing I was concerned with is I'm currently handicapped and they only have one elevator for wheelchair access and it's a three-story facility with living arrangements on each floor, but the elevator thing may not be an issue for some or a majority. They also had what they called cottages, which were two-bedroom units that were separate from the three-story unit.

We chose Holiday Columbus Estates for my mother because of the price and because they had a place open. When we went to look at it, it was very nice and the staff was awesome. My mom has different reviews of the food, some of them are good and some of them were not good. They've got bingo and activities like that, my mom likes it. She's got everything she needs, they do a good job there, and we're very happy with it. They have a courtyard and a place for my mom to go out and smoke, they also have a patio that she can go out on, and they have a cafeteria where they wait on you. Overall, it's a great value.

I was able to tour and see Holiday Columbus Estates, but they're independent living so my mom won't be able to go there. They're an older building, and the food is not as good as I've eaten their food. You can't order off a menu, they have daily specials, and other than that, they have a few things that you can get, but not many. They have a dining area, but their food is limited as to what you can have. The rooms were adequate and the staff was very nice and pleasant. Everybody that I saw was pretty happy with their situation, they play games, do things, and they have field trips that they go to. They don't come and check on you because it's independent living, you have to make arrangements with them. It's an older building and it's not as clean, neat, and spiffy like the other places I saw.

I've visited Holiday Columbus Estates. It was nice, but what didn't help was they had their residents in quarantine. The rooms seemed big there, they weren't bad, and they looked nice. My concern is how often are they going to have their residents eating in their rooms? My dad needs to be around people. And when we went there, it was very quiet, and there was nobody around. It wasn't the type of environment that I was looking for for my dad. I saw the dining room, laundry room, entertainment, and the activity room, which was large and nice. There was one or two people walking by, and that was it. It's an old building, but they said it's going to be remodeled. The place looks clean.

I moved into Holiday Columbus Estates. I chose it not only because of the price but also because they sell a lot of things that appeal to me. So far, the people are nice, and the things that they have planned for you are pretty nice. I have enjoyed my stay here the last couple of weeks, and I would recommend it to anybody. If you get into a situation where you feel that you can't take care of yourself or that you need assistance, this is the place to be. If you get internet, you have to pay for that, but you get your television for free. You have to do your own laundry. They will do your linens and towels. They have a shuttle if you need to go somewhere, like a doctor's appointment or shopping. You have to sign up the day before. You're free to come and go as you please. There is no time limit. They give you a key to get in. They give you a life alert that you can carry and hang around your neck, which is good. The cleaning lady comes in and cleans your room. The way they set up the dining room is almost like going to a restaurant. You have two or three different options that you can pick from. You get your three meals a day. The food is really good. They have small bingo games, a movie night, exercise classes, brain teasers, and outside activities. The value that I'm getting for my money here is really good.

I toured Columbus Estates for my dad. They were nice, and the pricing was very reasonable. This is an older, older-looking facility. It didn't have quite as many of the amenities, but for basic independent living it would meet the seniors' needs very well. But the staff was very nice. The apartments seemed to be a good value and the care is very good. It's just the facility is where it should be for the price. I mean, I think it's very good value for the price but when you look at some of the others, it's just not all of the bells and whistles. It just wasn't as upscale as the others were and is just more basic. There's nothing wrong with that. All the residents eat at the same time, and the dining was clean and well-staffed.

The tour experience I had at Columbus Estates was nice. I'm kind of hesitant because it would be like living in a hotel for the rest of my life because of the rooms but I understand I don't need much there. It's nice and it's not a large community that's kept nice and neat. Alex, the person I was with during the tour, was great. He explained everything and gave me some stuff to bring home to look over. The dining area is nice. It's like a restaurant, and they have servers that come and wait on you and take your order. The place is very well kept and the grounds are nice.

We were pleasantly greeted at the front entrance of Columbus Estates and offered refreshments before our appointment started. We spoke to an assistant manager that day and we received an overview of the independent living for seniors, and everything went well. She made time to answer questions and then she took us to two different apartments. The rooms were clean and they were ready for a move-in. They both offered a nice window view. One had a little patio and she also showed us all the safety features.

We chose Columbus Estates assisted living for my dad because it's close to where we, his kids, live. Everybody there is very, very friendly and very helpful. If you have a bad day, they make sure you have a good day by the time you leave. His apartment is nice, I was really surprised. He got a studio and everything was immaculate there. It had new carpeting and the shower was accessible for him. The only thing is that, and I'm sure it's just because it's an apartment living style, they could have a little bit bigger refrigerator. Other than that, everything else is nice. The facility is very, very nice, it's very clean and well-kept. Because my dad has his own caregivers, they take him to his meals and help him get dressed. The amenities that helped him a lot are the bus rides to his appointments. That's a really good part. The best thing for my dad is that they have a barbershop on site. That was the most important thing to him. I have tried their food and, as a matter of fact, the first day that we went to meet up with the gentleman who gave us a tour, we had a lunch of chicken fried steak, and that was very delicious. They told me they have a few activities like bingo and puzzles. My dad does some exercise so I think they also go and help him do some of it. When we were there a couple of days ago, I thought it was really cute that they had someone come over the intercom and, like in the Grease movie where the teacher went, "Boom, boom, boom" and they go, "Santa Claus is in the building". That was cool.

Columbus Estates was beautiful. The staff was great. They were cool, good, and very friendly people. They do movie nights, exercise classes, Bible study, and bingo. For me, I'm still living a very active life, though. They have all those activities and stuff there, but I do a whole lot of other stuff, which wasn't what they're doing there. We also looked at some of the rooms, and they still weren't done yet. If I was the one doing a business and showing my property, I'd make sure that the rooms and everything that I was going to be showing were clean and ready to go, but the rest of the place all looked good and professional.

I visited this facility

I took a tour at Columbus Estates three years ago and just went back to this place recently to see it again. When they told me they had a cottage available, which is what I wanted, I went there to check on it. They pretty much have everything. One of the things I like is that they have put attention on Christian values. If you want to partake of it, you can, and if you don't, you don't have to. They put out materials for scripture reading and I love that because it reminds me that I've got to do this. I have a friend that lives there too and she told me that she could not be happier. They have a varied menu for the meals. Sometimes when you eat at these places, you would think that their food seems to taste the same even though it's different, but I didn't get that from this place. It was a really good menu, and it felt all homemade. I had lunch there and I don't really like beef ribs, but they served me one and they were delicious. They offered all kinds of drinks throughout, just like they do in a regular restaurant, and so it was nice. We saw pictures of activities that they do and they talked about how the family can be involved. I have great- grandkids and they said that they can spend a night there. So, I think it's going to be a good fit for me. The lease is only three months and then it goes month to month. If something happens that makes me unhappy, which I couldn't see happening, I could always get out of it. I can have my pets and they can walk them, they even have stuff for you just in case they have an accident. It's also close to home. Alex was the one who's been keeping me in touch with me and I met Melissa there, the activities director, and all of them know everybody there. They take time to get to know the people and that's a good thing. It was an easy visit. They explained everything and I'm happy with it. The cleaning staff made it look like nobody lives there because it just looked so clean. You don't see a paper on the grounds, it was really quiet, and people were having lunch while some were walking their animals and that kind of thing. It reminds me of hotel living. You go to a hotel, have breakfast, they take your order, and they're not rushing you out. You can sit as long as you want. It's not an assisted living place, but should it happen, that you'd often get into that kind of a situation, they can help out.

My mother-in-law moved into Columbus Estates. We liked it right from the beginning with the staff being very friendly and the residents seemed happy. They have restaurant style service for meals, and they have a transport vehicle, a minibus that you can take for appointments. They have activities, but she hasn't had the chance to do anything yet because she just got in. They have a beauty shop there onsite, and an exercise room as well. They have a theater room where they have a little popcorn machine and a big screen TV. Alex and the general manager were both great. They invited us in before we signed the lease, and my husband and myself went with my mother-in-law and we all had lunch together there. I only had a salad, but my mother-in-law seemed to like the food. I think they have some people with a bland diet, but they have a pretty good variety. They have very mature landscaping; it seems very quiet and secure there. She's really excited about it. We looked at one place that was lower in price, and then we had an appointment at another place that was higher, so I think it's a pretty good value. We saw this one and it was reasonably priced, and close to the area she wanted. She's lived in this area of town for the last 40 years, so she preferred to stay over here. When we found this, she definitely wanted to move in because it's like five minutes from where she was living when she was on her own. If she goes to the grocery store, it will be a store she's familiar with. She knows her way around this neighborhood well.

We visited an independent living community called Columbus Estates for my uncle, and it seemed very nice. They seem to offer the services that they advertised, which is amazing. The grounds were well kept. It was my first time having this type of experience, so I did not know what to look for. What impressed me was that the grounds were well-kept, the staffing there was friendly, and they offered the service of providing meals. I was happy with that. The staff seemed to be well-informed about the duties that they would be performing. They seemed to be passionate about the jobs that they had taken on. Those two ingredients together sold me. They offered in-room services for meal times or the residents could go to a dining facility. Also, there was an activity calendar that looked like it would encourage my uncle to keep participating in the community. I think that's really important. They also offer appetizing meals and transportation to local eateries within that area.

We moved into a Holiday Residence called Columbus Estates. The management is terrific, and the food is wonderful. It is just great. The management has hired the correct help, and they're friendly and helpful. I don't have anything bad to say about them. We are in a two-bedroom-two-bath, and it's a single unit set away from the main house. We have a fireplace, a complete kitchen, a garage space, and a patio. It's wonderful; it really is nice. They have a bus that takes us anywhere we want to go. Within four blocks there is a gas station, a big doctor's office, a Walmart, and an Albertson's, so we are in a good area. My husband and I are very lucky we found this, and it's really heaven after you visit some of these other depressing places. It's not as modern as the new ones, but it's immaculate, it's well kept, and it's got mature landscaping, too. We have had our shots. We came from a different area, but they're just starting their shots, so we're pretty much on lockdown right now.

We went to Columbus Estates. It was OK, they showed us the place, and gave us the amount of money. There was just one thing that I don't understand. It was for $2400, but you had to bring your own TV. Other than that it was a very nice place, I would recommend that to somebody if they had the money that could afford it. The staff was very nice and helpful. I saw the room, it's nice, there were cabinets right there, a decent size bathroom, and the one room is a pretty nice size. It's clean.

The care that Columbus Estates provides to my mother-in-law is excellent and the staff is excellent. The food is not very good, probably because of the situation right now. They are doing puzzles, and they do door-to-door little paper activities that they can play and participate in. Her apartment is spacious and has a kitchenette but no stove, just a sink and refrigerator.

I wasn’t impressed with Columbus Estates, there was an odor when I went in, and the furniture showed a lot of wear. It was up against a hill, Columbus is a busy street, it was right overhead, and I didn’t care too much for that. It was like a hotel overlooking the next building over. The outside building looked nice and clean, but I was disappointed when I went inside. The rooms were small, they weren’t dirty, but they weren’t well maintained. The dining area was like a restaurant that could accommodate quite a few people, and they had a small area with exercise equipment. I had difficulty walking, and in that area, I don’t think I would be able to walk up to the parking area.

Columbus Estates was clean, well cared for, and there seemed to be plenty of staff on hand. The lady who showed me around was knowledgeable, very courteous without prying, and assured me that there was something within my range and I could afford it. The dining area was generous in size. I was invited to their Mardi Gras celebration and several other things. They offered the possibility of being able to bring part of my library, my keyboard and my computer. It had two bedrooms and two full baths. I was very pleased with what I saw and I felt very comfortable. The staff was very gracious, answered all my questions, showed me everything she thought might interest me, tried very hard to please me, and arranged for takeout lunch for me since I'm a vegetarian. It's one of the best and one of the most reasonable in Bakersfield.

I toured Columbus Estates. It was very nice. I liked the people, but it is not a new development. The rooms were nice. I think the tour guide was special. I liked this place a lot mainly because it is warm and friendly. I had lunch, and it was very nice. Everybody there was friendly. The food was great. You can get what you want. I can't say enough about this community. They have an activity center. They have a variety of activities to pick from. I was there during the lunch break and there was nothing going on necessarily. They have a salon for hair and that was nice for people who have the inability to raise their arms, which is my problem. I like the fact that they have a salon.

Columbus Estates was nice. The people there were very inviting. One girl keeps calling me back making sure everything's alright. It was really nice compared to the other ones that I have seen. They take the residents out for day activities, and they were doing Bingo the night that I got there. They have a little board with the itinerary on it, so they have a lot scheduled for the people that live there. The residents seem happy and real cheery. For a 1-bedroom, even a studio, you could fit a pretty good sized bed in there plus a furniture, a TV, or whatever. They also have a cafeteria which looks more like a restaurant.

Columbus Estates had a recreation room where they had all kinds of things to do and see. The rooms had a patio door, which went out to a lawn, which was something I wanted. There was only one bedroom, which was terribly small, but it was clean and neat. They have a small but workable kitchen, and they have a full size refrigerator. I'm looking for something smaller, but not that small, because I do a lot of crafts. They have a lot of things to do there, like dances and live music. I was impressed with the social life and the proximity to shopping.

For the most part, the people do not care about the food at Columbus Estates. They complain a lot about it. They have all sorts of entertainment. They have events where you can have your grandkids and kids join you. They always have something going on. I am really pleased with them overall. My mom is in a studio apartment. The only frustration I have is sometimes when I ask for things to be done; they are not quick to do them. They keep her apartment clean. I have never walked in there, and smelled anything bad. I think it is a great place. I think they do a good job. The only complaint of the people could be the food. They have a lot of activities for the people, and the management is really thoughtful and encouraging. They have an exercise room.

The facility and the staff were very nice. They were helpful and toured me all around. The rooms seemed adequate, clean, and up-to-date. Their dining room was set up well. They had a variety of activities, and the residents I spoke to enjoyed them. My mother is still driving, and Columbus Estates is on a little hilly area which has a nice view, but she would have a tough time walking to her car, which was down from the entrance. If she was able to walk pretty well, it wouldn't be a problem, but for her, she has to do it on a walker going downhill. The staff and others could help her, but doing it by herself would be unsafe.

My mom has only been in Columbus Estates a little while, and the people have been very good and friendly so far. What I’ve seen so far I would recommend. All the residents are friendly and very happy there, so I think we made a good choice. I’ve eaten there twice -- very good food. She has played bingo, and they play older music records or CDs. They have lot of activities for seniors, and we’re very happy so far. The family can stay with my mom, and another thing is, whatever care you need you can get it. It’s independent living, but if you need bathing or somebody to help with getting out of bed they can provide it. You don’t have to go into assisted living if you don’t need total assisted living.

This is a first rate facility. Everything I saw was excellent---from the individual rooms, to the dining room, to the auxiliary and support services; all was of the highest quality. A resort atmosphere prevailed; the residents were happy, active and friendly; interacting with visitors and staff in a relaxed, gregarious manner. Every amenity is furnished at a very reasonable price. I researched in behalf of a friend, but when the time comes, I would be very comfortable living here.

I have my friend placed in Columbus Estates. It is our choice because it's good price, it's very nice looking and it's close to my home. The facility itself is very well-maintained. The staff there is very nice. They're very professional. My friend moved in around the middle of August. We included add-on services for more care for her so that she has what she needs. She also has a nice full apartment. I would recommend this place to others. The food was great the week I took her there to visit; however, on the second week of her stay, the food has been gross. She eats it but it is not very appetizing. They're trying to make it senior-friendly, so it's really soft and it's like overcooked actually. They could improve on their food.
