Holiday Bear Canyon Estates was a beautiful facility. They had a lot of activities that they offered to the residents, as well as social outings, field trips, and that kind of thing. They had a very extensive restaurant quality menu that they offered in their dining area. It was communal dining where the residents had an opportunity to socialize and interact with each other and then they were served at their table. They had studio and one-bedroom units. I took a look at a couple of different options there. They were updated. They were beautiful. A lot of them had very nice views of the mountains. It was a very nice community. There's a Target and other smaller shops very close by, as well as several restaurants. They had a game room and a library. They have floor ambassadors, so there was someone on each floor who would welcome new residents, answer any questions, and make them feel right at home. There was a barbershop and beauty salon on the premises, as well as a company that provided home care if that was necessary for any of the residents. The staff was very friendly. They called to follow up and answer any questions that I had after the visit. They were very accessible, knowledgeable, and very customer-oriented. I reviewed the menu and it looked fabulous. The facility was very well maintained and very clean. It's a controlled access building, so it seemed very, very secure as well.

Everything about Holiday Bear Canyon Estates was wonderful. The rooms were very spacious and they were very well equipped for the handicapped. Each room had a little balcony of its own. So, it was just wonderful. They were awesome. Each one has their balcony and they have a game room where people are playing cards or dominoes. They have physical therapy and stuff. So they have a lot of amenities that are just perfect if mom was able to get around.

Holiday Bear Canyon Estates looked real nice. It was very well-kept and very clean with very nice people. The lady that gave the tour was great. She loves her job. She cares for their residents and knows them all by name. She was very personable. We would have loved to have had my parents there, actually, but we decided that it just wouldn't be good for them in the stage of life they are in. We're quite impressed with the menu and the dining area, and there were people there waiting for dinner.

Holiday Bear Canyon Estates is an excellent place. I love the area, and I love the facility. The only problem that we have with them is my mom is allergic to stuff in the air, and she would not be able to tolerate the cleaning supplies that they use. The person who toured us was excellent.

I had an in-person tour of Holiday Bear Canyon Estates. I didn't see people doing things, so it seemed more isolated. I only interacted with one person, and she seemed nice enough. The tour was quite nice, but it didn't seem like the kind of facility that I would enjoy being at. The rooms were very nice. The setup was nice. The dining area was nice. I know they have an exercise room. The staff answered my questions. The facility seemed a little more upscale to me. They had a lot of fancy stuff.

Holiday Bear Canyon Estates is a little expensive, but I love the place. The one that we met on the tour seemed to know quite a bit about what was going on. The rooms were nice, and my mom liked them. The dining room was fantastic. The food was great. The grounds were well maintained. They had everything from a beauty salon to a recreational room. They had an exercise room and a library.

I toured Holiday Bear Canyon Estates for my mother. It was nice and I really enjoyed it. They have things that she can wear in case she falls or anything like that, and they would go and check on her. They have a laundry area for her, and they have an entertainment area. They also have TVs and stuff. The staff member was really wonderful. He was really nice, and he did an excellent job. The dining area was very nice and open. There was a coffee machine there, so you could go and get coffee, and they had little snacks and everything. They had a beauty salon and it was really nice.

We went to Holiday Bear Canyon Estates. They weren't expecting us even though I had contacted somebody online. We used their chat box, and they said they would let them know we were coming. I hadn't heard anything for a couple of days. I got on again, and they gave me the number; however, it was not the number on the internet. I talked to someone at the front desk and told them that we were coming and that this had been set up. But when we got there, they didn't know we were coming. They scrambled to get the person that does the tours and scrambled around to gather up papers or something. It was very disorganized. Besides them not expecting us, the staff took us to a room that was empty. It was dirty, and it smelled. The setup was OK. I understand that could happen. If it's a room you're going to be showing people, you should at least spray some Glade or open the windows or something. Then she took us to a different room, and her key didn't work. She got the housekeeper with the master key, and the master key didn't work, so we just gave up on that one. She took us to one another one that was a couple of doors down. It took a couple of minutes until she finally got the key to work. The room was OK. It was a little dirty. If you really want a balcony, there was a room at the end that had two balconies. It had one off the bedroom and one off the living room. The one off the bedroom was the size of another room.

Holiday Bear Canyon Estates had some very nice balconies out of their apartments. They had activities, but they didn't have as many (maybe because they're smaller than some of the others and so their population was not as great). I wanted a full kitchen, but they didn't have full kitchens. They had a smallish refrigerator and there was no stove or anything like that. There was no washer and dryer either wherein some of the other places I went to had a washer and dryer in the unit. I thought it was an older place as well. I popped in and didn't have an appointment with them, but the person who took me around was very, very pleasant. She wasn't the tour manager, so I did not see everything they probably had to offer, but she was very generous and warm.

I visited Holiday Bear Canyon Estates. I liked the location the best. What I liked the least was that they have not kept up with the services that they advertised providing for the people who pay to live there. The staff were OK. They had all the amenities that you would expect, but a lot of their amenities were not staffed. Therefore, they could not provide those amenities like they said they were going to. The cleanliness and upkeep seemed to be good. The dining area was really nice, and the furniture was pretty. There were lots of places to sit. It was a wide, open area, which I liked. I did not like how regimented their eating hours were. You had to be there during certain hours or you couldn't get your hands on anything.

Holiday Bear Canyon Estates was nice. The amenities were all good. The lady that took me on the tour was very helpful with everything. If my mom choose to live there, she could have her dog, drive her car, and all that. The room did not have a full kitchen though. You have to eat in the cafeteria. Their prices were also a little bit higher than what I think we can afford, which is not really their fault.

I like Holiday Bear Canyon Estates. I would seriously consider moving there. It was beautiful. Everything was clean, and the people that live there were very friendly and welcoming. I got all my questions answered. Everything was good. The person who did our tour was Meredith, the manager. She was very professional, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. I had lunch there. It's not a five-star restaurant, but it's fine. The service was really nice. They placed us with two residents, and the servers knew what those residents liked in terms of what they wanted to drink. They obviously have paid attention to the people who live there. I thought that was nice. We were told about a lot of activities. I didn't actually observe any, but it sounds like they have something going on all the time. I looked at two studio apartments and two one-bedroom apartments. The studios were quite small and probably not what I'm looking for. The one-bedroom apartments were very spacious and had a nice big patio outside. I thought the floor plan itself was very efficient and would work for me. it had a big bathroom and three closets.

My dad will be moving into Holiday Bear Canyon Estates. The staff members were kind, caring, and courteous people. We visited some of the residents. It's just a great facility for those that are elderly but still capable. The facility is very clean. The tour was very positive. The residents were very sweet too. The apartment was very nicely decorated. The dining room was large. We went there during lunchtime, and it was full. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. They offer a good selection of meals. They have coffee all day at the coffee bar. They have a library and a gym.

I like Bear Canyon Estates very much. The accommodations are great. I have a studio apartment for myself. The meals are cooked and provided daily (breakfast, lunch and dinner). They have hundreds and hundreds of activities here. All kinds of things to do during the day and places to take you sometimes. They have an exercise room, a library, a TV room, a courtyard, and everything. The staff is 110% excellent.

I was very disappointed with Bear Canyon Estates. I had told Patrick, one of the managers there, on the phone the day before the tour, that I desperately needed a 2-bedroom but he tried to show me a studio and I said, "Absolutely not". Then he showed me a 1-bedroom, which reminded me of a dormitory room at a college. Neither of them was anywhere near acceptable. I didn't like anything about it. It looked like it needed a good facelift. I had two of my daughters with me and Patrick kept talking to them and not to me. I found that rather insulting. I'm not senile, I'm not disabled in any way, and I'm the one that's going to make the final decision on where I will live, not my daughters. I was kind of upset about that. On the outside, the place was okay, but inside, it needs some refurbishing like painting and some work on the carpeting. I was originally under the impression that washer and dryer connections were available in the rooms but that's not the case. It's a community washer and dryer on every floor. I don't want that and I don't like that. They had plenty of activities that were fine, but I'm a very active person without somebody planning my activities. Patrick was very sweet, very nice, and very knowledgeable, but he ignored me. There's no way you could cook in the room that we saw. They also have a common dining area. It was clean, but it was rather dull and not vibrant. The people had just finished eating when we saw it.

I live in Bear Canyon Estates in Albuquerque. I love the people and I love the food. I like the employees very much. It's an independent living and they maintain the property quite well. I like its location too. I've been here for a year and a half now. The staff is very helpful, and they try to respond to your needs as soon as they can. I like the wide hallways, the atrium, and the dining room layout. They have card games, entertainment that comes in, and they have something going on all day, every day. They have ice cream socials, scrabble, and church groups, just about anything you can think of.

Bear Canyon Estates is a very good independent living place and my aunt is really happy there. Other than the basic challenges the whole country is facing with staffing and stuff like that, it's very clean and they're very easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend them. The staff has had some transitions and it was kind of hard to fill those positions but they do well with what they have. I haven't personally had any food there, but she seems to be happy with it. There are just a few things that she hasn't enjoyed but not that many. For activities, they're not able to take them on outings as much because they don't have a driver right now so they're kind of limited to just what's going on inside.

My mom liked the Bear Canyon Estates. She would love to live there. She liked the walking path that she could walk around. She liked everything about it. She was really happy with that place. But it's an expensive place. If she was to get her veteran's pay, this is probably where I'd move her to. The staff was so nice and helpful. They have studio rooms. They're perfect for my mom because it has a little sink and bathroom. Everything was cool. It had a nice little view in one of the apartments. The staff showed us the bigger rooms and the smaller rooms. She told us that the rooms were pretty much the same. They had a library, an exercise room, a washer, and a dryer. All the people there were so nice. They had a big dining room, and then they had a small little room where if my mom wanted to cook her own meals, she could go in there and cook her own meals, so that was nice. Everybody that was in the dining room seemed very happy, and they were waving at my mom.

Visited this place recently. After calling ahead and setting up a time to tour the building, we showed up and nobody had no idea we were coming. It was donut day. It was a bit shabby. We asked questions, such as are there eyes on the residents in case one of them is down and out in their apartment - the answer was, "no, because they're independent." This was a stark contrast form other facilities that kept an eye out for residents who missed meals, etc. The apartments don't have kitchens, just a sink and a small fridge. Because meals. So are they independent or not? Frankly, they just don't know.

Bear Canyon Estates was fine. There were things to do. They provide meals. I liked their attitude. All the people seemed happy. It was not a nursing home kind of an atmosphere at all. This is a place where you can live and be comfortable. There's nothing I disliked. I didn't meet other staff, but the woman who was doing the rounds was very informative. They have activities and they can play games (pretty normal stuff).

My mom is staying at Bear Canyon Estates. The good thing about it is that it's a Holiday Retirement community and there's 2 of them right here in Greenville, probably 30 minutes away from where I live in Spartanburg so if mom were to decide to come east, I would assume going from one Holiday Retirement community to another would be a fairly seamless transition. She's been in there for almost a month and she can't say enough good things about it. It had everything that we needed. She was moving from an almost the same size apartment, so everything that she had was going to fit. They also had other people there in mom's similar situation of having macular degeneration. It had an elevator because she uses a walker or a cane when she walks so that was convenient. Three meals a day was good, the laundry room was there, the facilities were wonderful, and the grounds were beautiful. My sister said that the lady that showed her around and helped her out was Anna and she was just a fountain of information and very helpful. It just fit everything that we needed at the time and there is extra care available should my mom need it. She can't say enough about the meals. She was not eating very well at her home because she couldn't cook anything so it was just very basic stuff like hard-boiled eggs and chicken noodle soup. On her first morning there, she couldn't say enough about the oatmeal with brown sugar. It's the little things. She's enjoyed meeting people, the activities, and she found bingo right away. She's a bingo nut. The people have been wonderful, very helpful, and caring. She's met a lot of good folks and it hasn't even been quite a month yet, but honestly, she can't say enough about it. It's been wonderful and it's been quite a relief for us, her kids, living out here in the east with her so far away because now she has people around her should she become ill again like she did last time instead of being on her own. That is one, obviously, a good thing as well. There are more folks around her knocking on her door and saying, "Hey, you coming to lunch, you're coming to breakfast." If something were amiss, it would be known right away instead of at the other apartment where she was, where she might not see or hear from somebody for two weeks. My brother and sister and I have all been out there to see it. We helped her move into it and we were all very impressed as well. It's pretty much independent. She does have macular degeneration and she is legally blind but she can still see some. She walks with a cane and sometimes a walker. Right now, that is her only limitation. As time goes on, something else could occur that she might need a little extra help with. She's getting physical therapy and occupational therapy from when she was in the hospital in late September. I'm not sure how much longer that's going to go on, but that's through her hospital. That's not through the place there. For now, it's mostly independent but she has somebody doing her laundry because she can't quite seem to adjust the dials. They have someone come in once a week to clean her apartment. They wash and change her sheets and towels, they remake her bed for her, and that's all wonderful as well. She had some difficulty with her cellphone, though, when she first moved down there so she took it down to one of the folks that were at the front desk. It was only her second day there and they were very helpful and tried to help her get over her cellphone issues. Everybody that we've met has been wonderful. The facility is beautiful, very clean, and just the overall appearance is stylish. The grounds are lovely too. She wears what is called an OptiVISOR, it's kind of what you might see a jeweler or watchmaker wear so that they can see small, tiny things. She can see the bingo card when she wears this so she was ecstatic about that. Even though she doesn't see very well, she has gone to movie nights, mostly just to have something to do because she doesn't have a TV in her apartment because she can't see it. Nights can sometimes be a little dull for her but she'll go to movie nights there. She'll listen and she'll sit up close so she can kind of sort of see it. From what I understand, the value is very high. I think it was $2600, but considering everything that she's getting and all is included in that, I think it's well worth it. I'm going to move there myself 20 years from now.

Bear Canyon Estates seemed to be professionally run, seemed to be well-organized, had nice common spaces, a lot of a variety of spaces, and activities available. The rooms -- the actual residential rooms that I visited -- were not as impressive as the other facility. They didn't have as much as up-to-date furnishings and appliances and so on. They were fine, but they were not as up-to-date, and probably not as good quality as the other facility. The staff at Bear Canyon was very, very cooperative, and accommodating, answered all the questions I could come up with. The visit was a very good one. They have a small library, very well organized, I guess, by one of the volunteer residents. They have a game room, and kind of a TV viewing space, a craft room, and an open and very airy dining area. They have outdoor spaces that people can walk on. They're pet friendly, which I thought was very positive. They had elevators going up and down for anybody who needed them. So there's quite a range of activities. They have some assisted living facilities or services there at a much higher price. They do have a menu, and they said all their meals are prepared with the residents in mind and can be individualized as needed, so it looked good.

I was very impressed with Bear Canyon Estates. They were very professional and informative. The studio and one-bedroom were adequate and appropriate. We did a tour of Bear Canyon Estates, and it was great. Patrick, who is the general manager, showed us around and we toured one particular apartment that we loved. That's what we're waiting for, it's a 2-bedroom. The dining area is beautiful. They have waiters and waitresses to take your order. They had very nice tables, comfortable chairs, and the food that we saw was very appetizing. I would like to see more of their cottages, I don't know how many they have, but they're wonderful. They have a gym, and they have some other things. Everything looked very good. Everything was very clean; the places that we toured and just in general. The atrium and the facilities that we looked at, in the gym, and things like that were very nice.

Some of the main things about Bear Canyon Estates that were a draw were the very kind and attentive staff, and the safety features that they have, both physically and just their system. It's updated and comfortable, and things are in good shape. They have resident ambassadors, so some of their residents volunteer to help new residents get adjusted. And so that was a nice feature. So someone who's living there helping the new resident. The staff spoke directly to my father, who has a hard time communicating, but they gave him time to speak and gave him space to take his time rather than talking to me or talking over him. They offered that we could go for a meal to try it out but we didn't do that. The facility looked updated, the furniture is comfortable and well cared for. The workout room is not large but suits their population.

I toured Bear Canyon Estates and felt that the facility was more directed to giving assistance, which I do not need at this time, but it was well maintained and pleasant in many regards. The staff person who was assigned to lead my tour was knowledgeable but I think she could have introduced me to more people. She was a very pleasant woman though and she showed me two rooms and both were spacious, well maintained, had balconies, and very nice especially considering their cost. The dining area seemed pleasant too, but somewhat lacking in options, as compared to other places I've seen. They seem to have activities, card games especially too. I was a little disappointed they didn't give me any kind of thing to take home. Most places will give you their calendar, their menu, or a brochure describing the apartment. She sent me an email with the layout of the various apartments, so I had that information, but I think she could have given me a handout. It was a nice building. It's older than the other one that I went in, but it was well maintained and seemed very pleasant.

Bear Canyon Estates was very nice. What I liked about it was that it's independent living, but they have kind of an a la carte basis, assisted living services available, if my mother needs transportation down to dining, which is pretty much all she needs at this point. But there's a nurse, and that's an option that, as they age and get progressively worse, they have services available there without going, "Hey, we got to go to another facility." It's very clean. There's a lot of trees at the entrance, it's a big facility, and the dining hall is nice. If you are unable to get down to dining, they will bring it up to you. Every apartment has a balcony, which is great. The staff has been very good. I've been following up with her and they showed me pretty much everything. I looked at the studio, I looked at a one-bedroom. They were asking questions about what mother's able to do, what she's not able to do, and what was available in all of the accommodations. A couple of them just had a pull cord, here they have like a GPS monitor that they can push at any time that is on their person. You know, if they fall, you don't have to worry about them trying to crawl to a pull cord, all they do is press the button. They've got a fitness room, a beauty salon, and like a TV watching area. They've got like a community balcony with flowers on it and stuff, they've got a pool table, although I don't think Mom's going to be playing pool. They've got card rooms, and I think they've got a chapel in there. The location is great, and I really liked Bear Canyon Estates.

My mom will move into Bear Canyon Estates next week. We liked the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the facility, and the layout of the community. It was just friendly, welcoming, and easy to navigate. The cottage feels like a little apartment, and that was perfect for her. They have a variety of options. We were able to tour three of their options, and it was a hard choice. They allow pets, they have several activities, and they have a beauty parlor on site, a little store, and local transportation. They were doing a vaccination clinic for the residents, so we were not able to check the food.

Our experience with Bear Canyon Estates has been really good. We worked with Anna to get my mom in there and she was fantastic, especially in dealing with the COVID situation. They were able to get the paperwork signed without face-to-face interaction and took care of electronics and everything to get things signed and processed. The staff members were really good about us moving her in without contact with a lot of people. It has been really good and we've been really happy with it; my aunt is also happy with it. So far, they've all been very pleasant, helpful, they're positive, and they have a good demeanor. I haven't had any negative experiences with them, and so far she hasn't either. They were able to work with our budget. She had tacos the first night. So far because of COVID she hasn't gone down to the cafeteria, instead they have been bringing her food up to her, and she said it's been really good, it tastes great, and is filling. They have lots of options, and they give her at least two options for each item so she can pick her own menu and they come back with it. They have a few things going on, but you have to go through weeks of quarantine before you get to move around. A couple of the tenants there play cards, they have movie nights, and if they haven't gone outside the facility or anything they can do stuff like that. It's pretty neat considering the situation. The building was very clean, they're really good about coming in to hook up the TV, the walls were freshly painted, and all of the linens were clean. I have no complaints. Even outside the flowers were all landscaped and it was very nice.

Bear Canyon Estates looked very typical of a senior living facility. There was a large open space when you first walk in. The staff was helpful and very friendly. It was well maintained. It's nice that it's tucked away in the neighborhood, and it's in the upper northeast heights, so it appears pretty safe. It's a nice and clean facility.

Bear Canyon Estates has three stories. They serve three meals a day. My mom is in a studio facility which is just one big room. They have washers and dryers for people to use, and a library. They have all kinds of things for seniors to do like play bingo, and people come in to speak. My mom has friends there now. The food is pretty good. They have transportation services for them to see their doctors and go shopping. My mom is in assisted living and they keep the residents from walking off. They have a nurse who comes in and administers medications. The staff is pleasant.

Provider Response

We did not care for the food or for the regimentation of the dining times at Bear Canyon Estates. The dining area is a large room with lots of tables. First impression was good, and the place appeared to be clean and well-kept. The rooms were small and did not have full kitchens. Kel, the person who helped us, seemed very nice, accommodating and informative.

Bear Canyon Estates was located in a nice area. I didn't care for the food. The room they showed us was nice and had a nice deck that we would enjoy. They didn't have a workout room that I've noticed, but they have activities for the residents.

Bear Canyon Estates is like a 5-star resort. It is very nice and the staff is wonderful. They're always so fun and happy, and are ready to do anything to help. They have activities all day long, and Mom is doing great. They play Bingo everyday in the afternoon. The food is awesome. Table service is three times a day, and there's a coffee bar, juice, drinks, and snacks 24-hours a day.

Bear Canyon was very nice, but it was more expensive. The dining area was very nice, and the people were very friendly, but I wasn't crazy about it. Their menu wasn't as good, and the choices were not as varied. They had very nice courtyard. The residents were well taken care of, and they're happy.

Bear Canyon Estates had everything that we were looking for. We're pretty impressed with it. We went into a couple of the units, one in particular that they were preparing for another couple to move into. They were cleaning it, and they were doing an excellent job in getting it ready, which to me was a biggie. The place is also right up next to the mountain, so you're going to get the breezes from the mountain, which is a big plus too. It's just a nice, pleasant place to be.

I liked everything about Bear Canyon Estates. It seemed like it would be an ideal place for me. The food was very good, and I liked everybody there. It was a very nice place. When I visited, they had something for St. Patrick's Day. They had a lot of entertainment and games while I was there. It was very lively. I liked the idea of the washing machines outside. Everything was perfect.

My visit at Bear Canyon Estates went very well. They showed me a studio and a 1-bedroom, and then I had lunch there. Lunch was very good; the food was excellent. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. It is mainly an independent living place. You can arrange for assisted living, but basically you have to bring in someone from the outside to do the assisted living work. They have a computer room and very good workout equipment.

The people at Bear Canyon Estates were very nice. I saw the dining area and some of the rooms. It had a chapel which was important for my mother. It was in a developed area with a lot of trees and good views of the mountains. It was very pretty and very clean.

We moved our mom into Bear Canyon Estates. We like the personnel that are there. We like the fact that all the rooms have balcony spaces because my mom likes the outdoors, so that works pretty well for her. The price is in our market. It is also convenient to all of us. They have a lot of activities for the people that are there. They offer transportation services. I eat there several times with my mom, and the food is very good. She likes the food a lot. She complements it all the time. The people there are more independent. I think it is considered as an independent living facility, and we like it that. Someone is preparing their food. They come in, clean the apartment, and do her linen. They do other things. It fits my mom very well right now.

Bear Canyon Estates was very good. Their independent living quarters were separate from the main building, like a cabin. They were very nice. I liked the place because it had a regular cooking range and everything that you would need in an apartment. However, the meals would be served daily over in the main building. In good weather, that would be really fine, but if it was snowing or really cold, going three times a day for meals would be a little much. Other than that, it was a lovely, clean-looking place. The staff was exceptionally nice, and the price wasn't that bad. I did have a meal there, and there was some entertainment that night. Everybody was accommodating.

Bear Canyon Estates was very nice, but it was only independent-living. They did not have anything else to offer. If the person is still on their feet, can move around, can feed, shower, and can perform all the activities of daily living, it’s a wonderful place. It was beautifully set up. It was clean and very well maintained. The grounds were lovely. The apartment that we looked at seemed to be very nice. Nice views of the mountains, and the people were very nice. They gave us a nice tour and invited us to stay and have lunch.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father was a resident of Bear Canyon for five years. He had a lot friends, and they gave him a lot of freedom. He had a tiny room, but they didn’t charge very much, and it was probably cheaper than most places. A lot of his friends were older like him who had been to other places, and they told me that they were very happy there. The facility was large with about 140 units and immaculate. They had a shuttle service, entertainment, and celebrated holidays.

Bear Canyon Estates was very open and friendly. Everybody seemed happy. I liked the layout. When you walked in, the dining room was right there, and it was huge. They had a second-floor activity room, and you could see the second floor from the first floor. I just liked that it was so spacious.

Bear Canyon Estates in Albuquerque was nice, and the people were very nice, but it’s a little far from my home. It was older and still nice, but the rooms were smaller, more expensive, and in a more congested area of the city.

Bear Canyon Estates welcomed us profusely, but their meal plan turned us off. They have three meals a day, but very slow to be served and the three meals are too close together. The atmosphere was positive. The apartments didn't have real kitchens. We simply do not fit there.

I visited Bear Canyon Estates, and the staff was really nice. We did take a tour of their rooms, and their one bedroom apartments were really big. I like them, and they had good size facilities. She liked the people and the convenience and just the fact that she wanted to know how much assistance they would give her and the cost was. The staff was very informative when it came to what they were charging. We liked it. Their dining room is really nice, and it was very comfortable. It is set up like a restaurant where you sit down and order your food.

Bear Canyon Estates was very clean and bright. The lady who showed us around was very efficient and answered questions well enough that we felt we knew everything we needed to know, and she offered us a discount if we enrolled soon, but my parents were not ready to do that. It was good. We didn't really see a lot of the activities, but they were setting up to have a band in the atrium area that day for people to come and listen to, the exercise area seemed to be right there as you walk in rather than an exercise room -- which was one thing I didn't think was as good -- and there were people playing some little game where you toss beanbags into something right there as we walked in. That's all we saw; we didn't see a lot of the amenities.

We went to Bear Canyon a couple of years ago, and that seemed like a really nice place too. They were very friendly. It was a little different setup. I thought it was fine too. It was very nice and clean, it has a big dining room, we ate in there, and then we got to tour some of the rooms. It seemed a little more spread out, so a little more walking would be involved. It seemed a little more independent, but it was very clean and well-kept, and the staff was really nice. He had tried to call a couple of times for follow-up, but my mom wasn't ready at that time definitely.

I enjoyed living in the Bear Canyon Estates. I was very involved, and I got to know a lot of people. The room we had was very nice. It was a corner room, and we had a view of the mountains. Bear Canyon is an older facility. It only had one elevator. The staff was very nice, and the food was good. They have a gym facility. The rent went up, so I could no longer afford to live in this facility. They had a huge turnover as far as managers were concerned too.

My mother has heard the name of Bear Canyon Estates, so I went to visit just because she was curious about it. The staff was very helpful and very nice. The rooms were very pretty and clean. They had a full calendar of activities, but the only thing I saw was like a town hall meeting sort of thing going on with the residents where they could all raise their concerns in a group and talk to the director, and I thought that was nice.

I like Bear Canyon Estates when I visited there. It's a large facility. They have exits and entrances from the inside as well as the outside where you can unload your groceries just right outside your door. It had the dining room where the residents can go in and order whatever they wanted anytime. Their menu is a restaurant-style menu. Those were the two things that stood out. Their apartments has two-bedroom, two-bath, living area, and kitchen and it was large.

We rented a place in Bear Canyon Estates. They’re doing all the upgrades for us before we move in – putting on new bathroom fixtures and lights, painting and expanding the closet. We spent 3 hours with them and showed us everything. The facility is nice, neat and clean. They have food and different activities that we are eligible to go to. I spoke to a new employee and he has only basic knowledge but he was more willing to ran back to the office and get the information needed. Every time I asked him to go back to the office, he would walk up to a resident and would ask them how they liked the place and how long have they been. Most of the people we talked to have been there for 8 – 10 years and we are very pleased with that. I’m only concerned that the place is small and maybe problems with the people around.

Bear Canyon is an Independent community that is close to the Bear Canyon Senior center. I found the staff very helpful and knowledgable. The rates are very competitive with other communities in the area. The residents are very happy to be a part of what they call "the Bear Canyon Family". We found that they have several residents who have lived at Bear Canyon Estates for more than 5 years and some who have been here since the building was built. My mom has moved in and is happier than I have seen her in a long time.
