Reviews of UDC Respite Aide Companion Program
Some1cares February 01, 2012
The UDC Respite Aide Companion program is a part of the University's Institute of Gerontology. They pair seniors/ active retirees with seniors who are in need of care. This is not a traditional home health aide service rather a program. The program assist seniors who want to volunteer to help other seniors. They don't provide nursing or professional home health care but it is a more informal, social in home support support they provide. I have referred caregiver's who used the program as a supplement with the care that their loved one was already receiving and they loved this service. And the companion can come, in some cases more than once a week. The best part is that it is free!!! Unfortunately, it is only available to DC residents
