I thought their care was good. They were extremely helpful whenever we had issues. We always resolved whatever the issues were. When my mom had a personality conflict with someone, they would take care of that immediately. If we had an emergency situation and needed advice relating to health, they got right back to us.
When she had to go to the hospital several times, they had someone there when they're supposed to. They're very flexible. We were very happy with them. The caregivers were polite and they do what they're supposed to do. They're very accommodating.
I was very happy with Paula, the young lady who provided care for my father and my step-mother. She did an excellent job. Paula helped my step-mom with her daily functions and help her through out the course of the day. They're very good and wonderful. I had no problem with them. I would definitely use them again.
I came across Ready Hands through researching on the internet. I interviewed 3 other companies. I think it's more of knowledge of Dr. Benson and Jo-Ellen that I decided to get them. Jo-Ellen is very involved with the community. If something came up, I knew Dr. Benson would be out her to see my mother. Not as a physician but to oversee and to check out.
When I dealt with Jo-Ellen on the phone I cried a lot. She's so compassionate. My mom was in hospice for 15 months. It was a miracle because we even had her for 15 months. It was a blessing.
The whole time that we had them, there was only one day that I couldn't have somebody. They were sick and they just could not get somebody out here. They help me to learn also. The services are great. I think they screen a little bit more their employees.
We had Ready Hands for 5 months. The caregivers that we had were very good.
There was a woman that I called and she was like a private elder care strategist. She recommended Ready Hands to me. Ready Hands was wonderful. We were with them for 6 years. We started as part time and then we went to full time as the need grew.
The first time that I had to contact Ready Hands was when my dad went straight from the doctor's office to the hospital. I happened to have the number for Ready Hands in my wallet. My mother who had a stroke could not be left home alone. I called them and told them that I need a 24/7 caregiver at that instant. They came through for me. The had just had a girl walk in through the door. She was sent there out that night. I cleaned the room and set it up for her. We had a 24/7 care that night. They were amazing. They were a blessing to me. For the next 6 years, we had 3 different women come in and stay 24/7. The only reason for the first 2 caregivers leaving is because they got pregnant. They didn't leave because they were disgruntled or had issues with our family. I felt that Ready Hands really treated their staff well. They didn't work weekends, so they had time off. The people that came in to take care of my mother since she had a stoke are really good. I had such beautiful women. Believe me, they were fantastic. They were loving in terms of taking the time to work with the patient. All the 3 caregivers I had were very patient.
The last caregiver we had was Gladys. Both of my parents came home from hospice. She watched both of my parents pass away. She was there with me 24/7, day in, day out. I did the night shift and she did the day shift. We turned her, we changed her, and we medicated her. She was right there at bedside. She was totally supportive and was there with me like a sister.
I could not ask for anything better than Ready Hands. I love them. I really do. We worked with them for quite a long time. They were expensive but the quality of care was 100%. I did look into other companies at one point in time to see if I could get the price down. Cost is a major issue with death and dying or with illness. Then I decided to stick with them. The quality of their care is worth it in terms of the price. I would highly recommend them to others.
