Whenever we needed to change the hours of care, they always responded quickly. I liked most of the caregivers. If one of them couldn't make it, then they did their best to fill the spot.

The most helpful part of the services is that we don't have to be there all the time. We have confidence in the caregiver that gets her ready every morning, so we don't have to go over every day. I like the caregivers that we have had. They have been very good, they were also very accommodating when we asked to have the same caregiver every morning.

They are expensive and have pressed their prices up even higher. I have had different problems. I slipped on ice and broke a couple of bones, so I was quite disabled at first. They were there to do whatever I needed. I am down to just one day a week because I don't need as much help now. They are pretty steady. If the caregiver can't come, then they make other arrangements for someone else to come. It is hard having someone completely new come into the house though.

Not all the caregivers have enough training for what we require of them. They need to send me caregivers who are capable of helping us more, but they have been helpful in some ways.

I think they should do better with their scheduling. I need more notice on who is coming and when they are going to come. I did just get a schedule for the next few weeks for the first time. They have made life easier for me by helping me with day-to-day stuff that right now I cannot do.

The starting process with Gauthier Family Home Care is good, the consistency with staffing was good, and we never had an issue with people showing up late or not showing up. However, there are some of their staff members that will take advantage of older people. The most helpful part of having the services from Gauthier Family Home Care was that they would engage with my father-in-law every day. He didn't have high needs, but he really just wanted companionship and Gauthier Family Home Care offered that to him.
