They need to send me a driver when I need to go to a doctor's appointment, and I need a caregiver who does not smoke. I need a person to drive me around to my appointments, and they have not been able to always supply me a driver when I need it. I am very allergic to secondhand smoke, and they continue to send me caregivers who smoke.

They are really good about letting me know if they can't come or if a different aide is coming out. As far as the aides themselves go, there is a list of tasks for them to do. I'd like them to get through the tasks. I would tell a friend that they are reliable, responsive, and answer my questions and help me with problems. They are reasonably priced. The aides are friendly and reliable.

If I could, I would give them a 1/2 star. My mom was with Bright Star for about 2 months. She did have some care givers that were real nice and helped her with her exercises, did what she asked and were friendly and helpful. They also sent new girls all of the time so she had no idea what stranger was coming to her house day after day. However, most of the help she had were young girls that were still going to school (nothing wrong with that) but had absolutely no experience with home care. Didn't know how to clean, cook, make a bed or do laundry. They didn't drive, so they had to take a bus and were always late or simply didn't show up. Because they didn't drive they could not get her groceries or take her for any appointments, which they said they would do for her. They were young and ALWAYS had their phone in their hands. They sat, fell asleep, played on their phones, did not finish their duties. Would wash dishes but wouldn't dry them and put them away. They would ask mom for food or drink. Many times mom shared her dinner (frozen dinners that my sister and I had prepared) with them because they were hungry. I would NOT recommend this company for home care. So many times I would call my mom and she would be crying because she was so upset with her help or should I say non-help. My opinion is if they paid more they could get professional help that know how to do their job, not a bunch of kids who really don't care or have any idea what they are doing. The 1/2 star is for the good ones. Thankfully she had a couple of them.

They change a lot and they aren't capable of doing the job, and they don't seem to have the knowledge to take care of seniors. It's been over a month when I finally got a good one, but I've had to go through so many bad ones first.

I am not using the company at this time because I am going through Chemo. I didn't want any one around me because I get so tired from my Chemo. I didn't want to be too agitated around my caregivers. I have temporarily put my services on hold. When my caregivers are here, they clean my dishes, the bathroom, and my floors. They are willing to take my trash out. Most of my caregivers from this company have been pretty good, with the exception of one caregiver.

I think they could be doing better if they had people available more often when caregivers call off and cannot come in. They need to have replacements because often it does not happen. This Friday I had someone call off at 7, and they did not find someone to come until after 10. I needed someone to help me get out of bed so that day was hard. One of my caregivers is good, but the other ones are not good.

When we first started care, they sent caregivers to my loved one's home that were not healthy. That put my loved one at risk. This current caregiver doesn't go above and beyond to clean up messes. I also think the training process was not good for them because I would think it would tell them what basic things to do like that. I'm working with them. I didn't want to get rid of them right away because I want to give them a chance. It's nice to know that their diapers are being changed. The two hours has taken away my stress at work of worrying about them because I know that someone is sitting with them.

BrightStar Care can have a greater impact on my life if their caregivers would show up. I am supposed to get out of my chair at 7 but I would be stuck in it until 10 am. My original great caregivers either had car problems or had different jobs and so their replacements just didn't cut it.

I would tell someone that BrightStar Care is doing well for the client, they are careful, they give her comfort, and they do what she wants them to do. The client's life is very difficult because of the stroke that she has had, and there is not much that could be done better than if we had someone available on a moments notice at all times.

Everybody that we had to deal with at Brightstar was fantastic. The girl who came actually lived with my grandmother. She was right on top of everything. If there was a problem, she made a phone call right away. I have nothing but good to say about them. They were just wonderful. It wasn't like a job for her, she actually cared.
