It was new to him, so he wasn't as cooperative. There was a tendency, depending on where the people are from, a language barrier. Most of the people are old and have a hard time hearing. When you add that in, it makes things difficult. It was very professional, and they never left us without a caregiver. It worked out well. They were also excellent with Parkinson's issues.

I started using Assisting Hands services this past summer in 2020. My parents needed extra help with various needs around the house and due to Covid needed some socializing as well. They provided the perfect people who really took the time to understand my mother and how she liked things done. Unfortunately, in late fall, my parents health declined substantially and both required a higher level of care. Assisting hands shifted to higher level caregivers who attended to my parents needs with amazing compassion and dignity. My parents both passed away in December and I could not have made it through that unimaginable time without the entire team of people at Assisting Hands that supported my parents, in particular my father after my mother passed and me. Their support and care was beyond anything I could have expected, I was so blessed to have had them there with me. These are people you can trust with your parents. As you can imagine demand for quality senior care is high in SW Florida, it's challenging to find caregivers with such experience and compassion, Assisting Hands has the team to help you.

When I initially called, they didn't ask if my father needed to take any medications because they don't have an LPN or an RN to administer the medications. I was staying up 24 hours to do that. It was excellent, they were a lot of help. They took care of feeding him, made sure he was comfortable, and bathed him.

When the three caregivers came for us to interview, we would never even consider two. The third one was just hired and had no real training. She didn't show up the first day, left early the second, and a few days later she quit. We did go with the second person after the third person quit. I looked them up online and I found a mugshot of them. The caregiver that quit sent me and my sister a text that said that it wasn't fair that she wasn't paid. We had to contact the point person and tell him that the caregiver was contacting us in the middle of the night.

The quality of the people they send are excellent and I really liked that they would call me about a change or concern right away. For example, during the hurricane they offered to send someone to be with him during it since I am out of state. I said that would be wonderful because due to his dementia I could not get him on a plane to evacuate and they found someone to stay with him. My father doesn't need much, but they help with his laundry, cleaning, medicines, and taking him places. They are very willing to keep him company.
