If you want the option to transfer out of hospice, do not use these people ever. Every time i called with a medication question, i was told to stop life-continuing meds not related to reason for hospice. Strong opiates were prescribed in layers without research of interaction with other meds - i had to point out their error after husbands vitals plummeted. Was also encouraged to have husband placed in their inpatient facility - exactly the opposite of his wishes. Scary, self righteous group of people - do not recommend.

Day 4 with this Hospice chapter and so far, not impressed AT ALL! Services are not as described, horrible/lacking communication.. For all of the wonderful things I've always heard about Hospice devices, I would never, ever recommend this chapter.

My husband was served by Evergreen Hospice. It was not at all the way they descried their services to us. the first nurse they sent out was rude and rushed. We asked for specific training on two care tasks we were asked to perform. She said she didn't have much time to do any training and told us to just "figure it out" she said it was easy. We did not know how to empty the catheter when it needed to be emptied. We asked that she not return. The next day he was bleeding from his mouth and had a lot of discharge from his mouth. I called hospice at 7am. 7 phone calls and 6 hours later I finally got a call back and a nurse came out. He was wonderful and helped us with training and explaining things to us. He emptied his catheter, and showed us how to move the patient in bed...things the first nurse didnt have time for. A third nurse was sent out on the third day. I told her about our experience the day before when it took 6 hours for a nurse to call me and we were very alarmed as my husband was bleeding from his mouth. I told her how disappointed I was in the services he was receiving. She told me that they were NOT an emergency service. I told her that I had been told that if I had an urgent issue I was to call the hospice number and they would get in touch with me within an hour,.she then said" lady, you can keep reuminating about what happened or you can quit talking about it and forget about it. I told her that she was not in in my home to insult me. She was not compassionate or understanding,..just plain rude. The social worker came out once. She asked me if I wanted a chaplain..I told her no that we had our own pastor..she then told me that I didn't need her for anything else...and left. She never discussed counseling, support groups or other services for our family, never came back and never called. Caring for a dying loved one is very stressful and the hospice liason at Overlake told us that hospice would make it easier because they had so many great professionals who would give us lots of support...That never happened. We had two very rude nurses and a social worker who offered us no support. Your agency made our experience worse...your staff need to be told that they should not go into someone's home and be rude and act like we were not important enough to take the time to help u when we needed help. Some of your nurses are in the wrong area of specialty..if you lack compassion and even manners,,,you should not work with vulnerable families. I will never recommend your agency to anyone and will file a report with the state for neglect

My mom just passed away last Saturday at their facility. All the nurses, techs and volunteers were so knowledgable, professional and helpful. I had a misconception of hospice but my mom's physician assured me I would love Evergreen Hospice center and I surely did. I'm so glad my mom was at their amazing care in the last few days of her life.

Evergreen Hospice Services was fantastic, and their nurses were out of this world. The nurse was dead-on on her assessment on what was happening when my father started his dying process. She recognized immediately and was able to give us a timeframe, and they were accurate. They were very professional and attentive, and I give them very high marks.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We placed Mom at Evergreen Hospice because they are connected to the Evergreen Hospital, and that's where she spent the last three years in and out of her doctors' appointments. The staff is very good, and the place is very nice and clean. This is the second time I've dealt with them.

Yes the grounds are beautiful. Most if the staff were competent, caring people. We felt blessed to have their help. It was not an unalloyed ease though. Our social worker wasn't competent and it created real problems for our family when she didn't verify insurance coverage that had been granted. Due to this, my husband was exited. One of the nurses was despicably rude when my husband was returned to hospice inpatient due to an unforeseen circumstance. Unforgivably rude. And at such a time. To most staff there, and volunteers, thank you. The others need to reassess their calling to this field.

My husband died at Evergreen In Patient Hospice in 2014. The staff and the facilities are beyond belief wonderful There were three placed for family to sleep in his room. The grounds are so beautiful. He did not suffer at all. There is a huge family room and a family kitchen. The social worker, the provider, and the nursing staff were very attentive and listened well to our concerns and addressed them. I can't thank this inpatient facility enough for their care

My loved one used this service

This very difficult time in life was made so much worse through the inept performance and rude behaviors of all the hospice staff at Evergreen. They were so disorganized it took us over a week just to find out who our case social worker really was, and who the RN assigned to my mother really was. They gave us a different team every single time we asked. They failed to order the very necessary supplies my mother needed, and the result was my mother burst through her stitches and leaked almost all (over 7 liters) the fluid in her stomach that was protecting her kidneys. On the third day, they finally agreed to let her return to the hospital to have her stitches redone and stop the leaking, but they failed to do the registration work and the hospital didn't know she was coming, which caused us additional stress and a scolding from the doctor who said he needed more notice when we were bringing her in for treatment! Thank you, hospice. Finally they assigned another team who managed to meet with the family only to cause even more problems. We had requested 2 baths a week for mom, they said that would happen, then decided not to. Mom's urine catheter fell out and they refused to re-insert it, which put her in a diaper and brought exceptional stress on her. They REFUSED TO HONOR PRIVACY LAW. My mother stated explicitly that they were not to give information to her out of state daughter because she tries to take over without finding out what is already underway and creates endless problems. But, they spoke to her anyway. End of life is horrible to go through. Hospice is supposed to tend to the comfort and dignity of the patients. This group at Evergreen is a miserable FAILURE on all counts.
