I am a current client of this provider

This company is worthless, and I do not recommend them. They don't really do anything that I would consider helpful, and the LPN that finally showed up after 7 hours of calling was sassy and without an ounce of compassion and could not even administer medications. She was immediately dismissed. I did not even allow her to come into my mothers room, who might I add was in the throws of passing. They will be terminated immediately.

Cannot get anything right with people who are dying!! 2 weeks ago we signed up for their services. My father in law has Pancreatic Cancer, late stage. My husband and I thought it was a good idea for someone to check on him once a week to prepare his medications, Check his vitals, etc. This company has been an absolute nightmare from day one. The only reliable part was admissions. They miss appointments, and the last week no one has even called him nor my husband for any updates on anything, no one has been out to see him. They are supposed to be available to the patient 24/7 or so we were told. My husband called around 15 minutes ago, it took them a while to answer, when they did, the lady just did a lot of typing and transferred us to another person. That person told us that it was after hours and someone would get back with us tonight. His medication‘s need filled he is out, we were told that they were going to take care of that. They haven’t. In our experience and observation these people could care less about their patients. They charge Medicaid, and do nothing. We are speaking to someone tomorrow to have the services stopped immediately and contacting Medicaid. This place needs to be reported. My father in law as well as other patients deserve better care than this!! Do not hire this company!!

I am a past client of this provider

VITAS took care of my father during his terminal illness. There is no way we could have made it through that time without the caring support from the entire team. They cared for him as if he were a part of their family. The nurses, chaplain and doctor were excellent. When we called, they are responsive and helped to calm our fears and provide us with answers we didn’t even know to ask. Watching a loved one go through illness and transition is very hard, but having compassionate, professional care and support really helped my family managed the process. This week marked one year since his passing and fortunately, VITAS offered us ongoing survivors’ support. I have recommended them to others and am glad they found them as much of a blessing as my family did.

We were partnering with Vitas as a client transitioned from our home care and care with a different hospice provider to care in an assisted living property in Columbus. The client had a medical issue which needed attention just as all these transitions were happening. The VITAS team was all about action and compassion. The medical attention was provided with great partnership and care. Our shared client and their family was put at ease, given the many moving parts on this day there was plenty of stress. VITAS assured us they were on it, they communicated with all parties and worked with us to create the best outcome anyone could have imagined. Now, we no longer work with this family but VITAS does. I recently visited them and they are very happy with the care and help provided by VITAS. This was my first interaction with VITAS but I hope not my last. They were excellent partners. Thank you for your attention to detail and agility, VITAS.

Very disappointed. I am a palliative care NP who uses Vitas here in California very often. So I referred my grandpa to Vitas in Ohio when I felt he was appropriate. The intake was a streamlined process. Very good explanation of benefits. But that's where it ends. Nurse doesn't come when she is supposed to come. The bath aide show up for several weeks. My grandpa didn't get a bath all that time. He has claws for fingers and toes. No one has given him that basic nail care. This tells me they don't care or don't bother checking. Either way, pretty sad. He is also choking when eating and is at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Again, someone is not asking or checking. One basic tenet of my care is to ask if there are other family members involved. Granted my aunt may have decided not to include the California side of the family, but I would have made an effort to encourage her to include all family members. She's not handling things well and they are not doing a good job of assessing for caregiver burnout. I chose hospice so my Grandpa can have some quality of life in his end times, and chose Vitas because of their stable reputation. But I am sad that I did. My grandpa is not getting any benefit from them.

I am a current client of this provider

My husband Ron has been with VITAS for roughly a little more than one year. He has progressing dementia and literally everything must be done for him. He is still able to walk because of the patience and support of my VITAS aide Ali Kabia and my hospice nurse Pauline Peak. Ali and Pauline have been my families lifeline, providing caring, dedicated, consistent, cheerful and professional care for Ron. They have become like family to us giving me the uplift, encouragement and support I need as the sole caregiver for my husband. Pauline has gone out of her way to make sure that every support mechanism is in place for Ron. She just recently coordinating with the care team an absolutely fabulous 72nd "catered" birthday celebration for Ron . The chef George was outstanding and Dolores, the VITAS staff volunteer coordinator were in my home to prepare and serve a gourmet Italian spread for our family. So to Ali, Pauline, George and Dolores, thank you so much for being such a warm and wonderful part of our family that day. Each of you speaks and represents VITAS quite well!!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

They responded to my mother's needs immediately. She was uncomfortable and afraid. They had equipment and medication for her comfort within a few hours. They stayed with her around the clock until she passed the next day. Then they stayed with us until her body was picked up, providing support for us, her family, as we dealt with her passing. They offer grief support and pastoral support if desired. They are now following my father as he declines. We are very pleased with the care, concern, support, and services they provide. They are all very compassionate. I'm so glad we got Vitas Hospice involved in my mother's sudden passing and will probably have them for all of us as needed. I'm so glad my mother did not die in a nursing home or hospital.

Kimberly could have cared a little more about my father. She was on her phone the entire time. I would not recommend to anyone. It showed incompitance and rude.
