I am a past client of this provider

Recently my mother was with CARIS and passed away in tremendous pain and suffered for days begging for me help her end her life life that she couldn't take the pain any longer. The RN with CARIS was there at the time and said there was nothing they could due even with a temp of 105. The next few days I begged them to help her....they finally decided to get a med pump which was delivered on a Friday, two RN's came to setup the pump, neither knew how to set it properly and it keep alarming. On Saturday one of the RN's came back and said it must be the pump, a replacement was delivered 5 hours later. The nurse attempted to setup the replacement pump and failed. I kept calling and was told she didn't know what to do. Finally on Monday they sent out an LPN who knew to call the infusion partner to get the code to run the programmed infusion and my mother finally received medication following 96 hours of suffering with septic infection. The staff was uncaring, unprofessional (wearing her PJ s), rude with lack of knowledge in there profession. I attempted to transfer my mother to another provider was was unable to do so in a timely fashion due to CARIS's failure to complete a Mandatory Compliance (face to face Certification with a Nurse Practitioner) within a certain timeframe. My mother pasted during the transfer to another hospice provider. Please do not trust your loved one rot CARIS.

The clinical & pastoral staff are fabulous! Not enough of clinical staff. They were driving 3+ hours to visit my dad. Never even considered calling them as my Dad was declining. They didn't add anything. Physician at NHC managed his care & was not paid by Caris. Caris Med Director is not involved in patient care?!? Administratively, they are a challenge to pay their bills to NHC. They are subsidiary of NHC, but it's not seamless. Choose a hospice agency that's local & reputable. Ask around in the healthcare community first. You have choices.

This company doesn't deserve any stars. My mother was released from the hospital on Saturday. Her care package was supposed to be called into the pharmacy and ready for pick up. Still hasn't been called in. It is 3 pm and the nurse is supposed to come today. Still no phone call and no nurse. After repeated calls, the manager is off and is now on the way to the office to have a "meeting" with the nurses. All we want is care for my mother. Trying to work with this company is like getting all your teeth pulled out without Novocain. It seems that the care really isn't there. This experience with Caris so far has been dismal at best. We are now going to look for another company that truly has some compassion for both my mother and our family.

Wonderful experience with this hospice. We had used a different hospice with my mom and the experience with Caris for my Dad was so much better. Very good communication, everyone was so compassionate from the office to the nurses. They are all angels!

My brother was under Caris' care for less than a month before he died. He was a cancer patient, but what killed him was pneumonia. We reported a fever over the wkend. We were told to give him tylenol with a promise that the nurse would see him first thing that Monday. At 4pm still no nurse. I called and was given a bunch of apologies with a promise she'd be there within the hour. She showed up around 5ish, "checked" his vitals, "listened" to his lungs and said everything was fine. As a precaution, an antibiotic was called in. When we went to pick it up at the pharmacy, we were told that it'd been written wrong and would require correction. That was finally done on Tuesday morning. My brother went into septic shock that evening and died the following day. My 72 year old mother had to endure her son screaming for help because he couldn't breathe. Several attempts to reach the emergency nurse at Caris went unanswered. When contact was finally made, she showed up 3 hours after his 1st attack. Having spoken to the nurse in question since his death, she's admitted to me that both her and the doctor "thought" that a blood infection he'd suffered in the past had come back. My brother was never seen by Caris' doctor. Presumption on their part ended my brother's life. I've spoken to the agency's director who promised to follow-up on my complaints. That was 2 months ago. I've never heard from her again. Not a company I would recommend!
