I never thought I would be writing a review for Hospice care. That being said, I would never have made it through mom’s passing without Vitas’ entire team by my side. Mom was a healthy, vibrant woman who touched everyone she encountered. Unfortunately, due to multiple hospital and staff negligence occurrences, we found ourselves on the receiving end of a phone call we never expected. From the moment I received the call, the Vitas Hospice team (Delray Beach) walked me through every step of the way. I was not only constantly updated on mom’s care but educated as well. The team helped prepare me for what was to come. In mom’s final days, the team kept mom comfortable, relaxed and pain free. I always thought of the word “Hospice” as scary, cold and dark. This by far is NOT the case. Hospice is love, care, compassion, dignity, warmth and understanding. The team at Vitas became a second family to me and but more importantly, gave mom the ability to pass with dignity and surrounded by love. I am forever changed by compassion so many of you gave not only mom, but myself as well. You truly are God’s walking angels.

We got hospice that comes out four days a week. We have VITAS Healthcare. My mom is in pretty bad shape, and she is bedridden now. They're absolutely wonderful. The nurse is wonderful. The doctor is wonderful. The aide that comes out is wonderful. There's a nurse who comes out once a week, and an aide comes out five days a week. She cleans my mom's room, and she changes the clothes, sheets and everything. They have a very good reputation, so I chose them. The nurse is wonderful. She checks everything with my mom. Billing and scheduling are good. They're great. I don't know what we would do without them.

If I could give them 0 stars I absolutely would. TERRIBLE care. Asked for a wheelchair and that took about four months even with my family member falling out multiple times because the chair was too small. Took the doctor four days to return urinary results. My grandfather had to go to the hospital because it was a severe infection and he could have died with how bad it was. Took them 3 weeks to do any sort of following up testing. The care is the worst care I’ve ever dealt with. Team leader, Mona, for team 304 was extremely rude and would never return phone calls regardless of how urgent the situation was. NEVER gave direct answers to any questions. The entire team needs to be replaced as they DO NOT care for their patients at all. The only positive thing I have to say is the nurses from the critical care team we’re absolutely wonderful!

VITAS Healthcare is fantastic. My mom has been very agitated so she has not been that nice, but they've been putting up with a lot with her. They've been really sitting in with her and providing her 24-hour crisis care. They've been really keeping up on her, sitting with her, and taking care of her needs as much as they can. They're great and they contact me daily. They give me updates daily and send the chaplain in to pray, and they're really on top of trying to keep her comfortable.

My father spent his last couple of weeks on this earth doing Hospice at home. I was his main caregiver for the first couple of weeks. During his last week, the comfort care team came in and took over because he was no longer talking and pain management was the key focus. I was so impressed by the nursing staff. Julie, Elizabeth, Kerene, and Peter were the nurses who worked in shifts providing my father with round the clock care. It was a welcome relief because both my mother and I were lacking in sleep. They were all so compassionate and would answer any questions that we had. I was so inspired that I decided to go back to school to become a hospice nurse! Even though the experience was difficult, it was bearable because of the fantastic staff. If you can do hospice at home, I highly recommend it. The units can be depressing. We wanted Dad at home and he was so happy to be going home.
