Gentiva has wonderful nurses and employees. We have encountered a few problems with having to make repeated calls to them to get prescription refills, having made trips to the pharmacy and find the medicine is not there. Same thing with delivery of boost, the last time it took a call everyday for at least 6 days to get some action. As much as our insurance pays them a caregiver should not have to worry about these things. The latest is my husband is having what the nurse thinks is 'focal seizures' and she was to talk to the doctor 2 days ago and to get his thoughts and maybe increasing one of his meds, which his current med had no refills on, and she would call me that afternoon and she didn't. Found out yesterday when a sub nurse came and talking with the supervisor that she did not talk to the doctor and did not call in his prescription. It seems Gentiva is more interested in their bottom line profit than taking care of patients and getting what they need and deserve. They do not provide any in-home nursing care except for their weekly visits. When I've needed them after hours the nurse on call took 2-3 hours to get here.
